Well I have to say every time I come to badweb to check things out, one of you has cracked up. Most of the time it's Mike(he just hangs it out there). And now Jim...Glad you are OK (subjectively), kinda scary that you lost all that time. Not having a bike and not riding...SUCKs. Hope you get both yourself and the bike rolling smoothly again soon.

Ok, I got to the YZF this weekend. I had ordered new foot pegs(old ones were floppy and torn. Replaced the brake and clutch lever(clutch was broken, and got both in black from Ebay). Pulled the tank and airbox...Used carb cleaner to clean up a little. I started the engine which would only idle on 3/4 and choke out when the throttle was turned. I sprayed some carb cleaner in and after spraying each a few times I was able to rev the engine into the 12 grand range. It is quite loud with the Kerker exhaust, although it is a weird loud compared to my Buell. I pulled the Carbs, and I am taking them to have them cleaned ultrasonically. I only hope I can put it back together...Hope all is well with everyone else. Take Care

Finally got out on the X-1W Sunday; what a hoot. Could tell it had been a while, as not only did I feel like I was all thumbs, they were on the wrong hand. The road was about what I expected (went up 209 to the 63 intersection and back) with lots of sand/gravel and a few wet spots. Slid the bike 3ish times, even though was maintaining a Very Prudent speed.

Not sure about the D&D muffler though. As a believer in the "Quiet Pipes Save Rides" approach, this can may be a bit much. Still really good to get out. And the skills did seem to be returning by the end.

Ride safe and have fun!!!! Dave

Jim,

Any ride you can walk away from is a good one. Breaking the bike sucks, I know, but it means nothing in comparison to you.

Well after a month in the barn I pulled two of the bikes out. The Uly would not start. The factory battery still in the bike is now fading. I was late to meet Mark and John for lunch so I jumped on Kristi's Blast, which after a couple dozen cranks, it barked to life. I put the Uly back in the barn and hook it up to the charger.

Kristi got the splitter needed so we could have both heated vest and gloves at the same time. After 20 minutes of wiring I was ready to ride and very late. So off to catch up with the group and as I get past the halfway point, I notice I did not have my wallet. It was just one of those weekends.

Good ride Saturday. The Blast did a good enough job keeping up with two 1200s. The little joker seems to find its wind in third gear. Nothing to brag about but it did keep up, sort of. Only problem, poor thing only got 48mpg while I was wringing it out.

So Sunday Kristi and I caught up with Mark and Ellen and we have a couples ride, couple of Ulys and a couple of Blasts. Kristi and I get to Mark's and I feel my neck is a little cold. I pull out my keys with the bag key and pull out my GoreTex bandanna. About that time I turn around to see Mark and Ellen pass me. I hurry up getting back in gear and mount on the bike and we are off. About five miles down the road I think, "Did I lock the truck back up? Where are my keys?" I do not keep the Uly's ignition key with my other keys because where the ignition switch, a key chain with a bunch of keys just scratches everything on the side of the bike. Riding down the highway I reach around and pull on the tank top. It does not move. I can't seem to find my keys then I feel keys in a side pocket and I think I am okay.

We ride a good way especially for Ellen. It has been a while since she was on the road and she was doing great. It was a fun ride with two Blasts sandwiched between the two orange Ulys. We really had a great ride to Trenton where we stop for gas. I get off the bike and as I walk around the back of the bike to see the trunk is unlocked. CRAP! The key I felt was my other ignition key, my key chain with both car keys and house key are gone. Not to spoil the ride I tell Kristi but we go on with a great ride all the way back to Mark's and Ellen's. We get there and I look around the ground, no keys.

Mark and I ride back through the route we just took on the Blasts. Low and slow and perfect for the Blood Hound job at hand. the Ulys just buck and complain at walking pace, not so with the Blast. You know you can ride those things at walking pace for a long time. After a while Mark is riding in the grass on one side of the road and I am on the other. The Blast engine speed was so slow it sounded more like a hit-miss motor than a motorcycle motor. It never bucked, coughed or complained. We make it all the way back to Mark's with no luck. Kristi and I leave for home knowing I just lost the both car keys and the house key. Ellen sends their son to ask neighbors if they found a set a keys as we leave for home.

We pull into the house to see we had a message from Mark. Sure enough Kyle had luck. A neighbor checking his mail found my keys and noticed the blue Buell bag key. He thought it was Mark's so was holding onto them. I am about to head back to Mark's when I hear a Buell coming, sure enough here is Mark with my keys in hand. What a friend.

Conclusion - This winter sucks, where is this Global Warming everyone is talking about. It's been so cold, wet, snow, ice, etc. for so long I am out of the groove of riding. Rode the Blast for 300 miles and the Uly 100 miles, not bad for February.

On February 23, 2008 I bought the XB12XT that was transformed into the XT-BOLT.

On February 23, 2009 this is what the odometer looked like:

1 year mileage

On February 23, 2010 (today) this is what the odometer looks like:

2 year mileage

Can you guess which Buell I rode today?
.
.
.
Yeap.
.
.
.
I rode the 1125CR today! After all the dang weathermen all said it should've hit 60 here today. Lying bastards!

I guess I'm fortunate where I reside as I have been able to ride every day that I've needed to get someplace,

You're very consistent with your mileage.

My love affair with the S2 started similarly. In the 7 month riding seasons the state of Wisconsin offered (and partially due to an insurance 'deal') I managed 10,000 miles each of the first 2 'years' on the S2, the 3rd year was a nice 13,000 mile figure and after that I quit keeping track. Kind of odd that, in the end, it took nearly 10 years exactly to get the S2 to 100,000 miles. However, throwing a trio of Wide Glides and the V-Rod into the mix starting in 1998 could account for some diminished S2 seat time.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds in store for mileage accumulation on the 4 bikes in my garage...

I forgot how fun a 9 can be...

Just got done helping a colleague move his '06 CityX into a short-term storage unit. Even though it was less than a 10 mile ride, that Buell perma-grin was unstoppable. This is the same colleague I put down his deposit on an '09 1125R before he got back from working in France.

I think I've about got him seeing the light of the brotherhood of Buell. He keeps saying that once it gets warmer we NEED to get together and go riding. So I'm hoping that soon we'll all be able to get together for a nice group ride.

Anybody willing?

Spent Saturday building a shelf in my tool closet for more storage space. Spent Sunday sanding the plaster in the kitchen, shopping at Costco and playing over sized scrabble for the visually impaired. Didn't get to ride until Monday for the huge 7 mile drive to work.

I had a fantastic morning. Amanda and I took off on the bike around 10:30. It was still a bit cold, but certainly nicer than it's been for a while. I didn't have much of a plan for were were were going. Those unplanned rides tend to go South, as that's the quickest way out of town for me.

We ended up taking exit 84 off US-1, which takes us by the Merry Oaks Brick plant, and down Christian Light rd. That ends at Highway 42, which I took into Sanford. Somewhere along 42 I came up with the idea that we could have lunch in Pittsboro, so we took 15/501 from Sanford and 10 miles later were pulling into downtown : ) Pittsboro. I parked the bike and we went into the general store for lunch. It's kind of an artsy place, and the food is excellent. We were cold by then, which makes sitting down someplace warm, with a cup of coffee and good food really exciting. It was simply fantastic.

I went to REI last night, as Amanda suggested I should look at glove liners. I ended up with a pair of lines, as well as a new balaclava.

I don't shop at REI often, as their stuff tends to be a bit pricey. I will eventually learn that that is because it's worth it.

I wish I had had these glove liners years ago. They keep my hands much warmer, and they are thin enough that I can use my fingers with out taking them off. Really nice for digging in my pocket for keys and not getting hang nails.

The Balaclava has a separate piece for the top of your head, which allows you to fold it down and look like a normal person, with out having to completely remove it. I've always been careful to remove them when I go inside, as I don't want to be taken for a robber. Now I can leave it on and just fold the top portion back. It looks like a scarf when you do that. It also means I can put ear plugs in w/o having to take the entire thing off. It should would have been nice to have last week.

Had a good ride today! My friend Pat got her license just before me last year. She's riding a Sportster. She came out and rode with Webe, Ellen, Carlos and me. We rode Old Maple Hill Road and had lunch at Fish Camp. What a great day!

Best of all....I've got a set of Lightning Bars coming my way for the Blast! I love BadWebbers, especially C3ers!! Thanks U4euh!

Oldog & U4 - just let us know what works for you and we'll make something happen on our end.

Carlos is riding to work this week...wish I could. Looking forward to Sunday!

Luke started T-ball tonight! Talk about cheap entertainment. There are 16 5-6 year old little boys and girls. They are very excited and many of them have never stepped foot on a baseball field, Luke included. It's so fun watching them learn and be so excited about a new sport.
