Bike feels down on power. Check codes and every possible sensor shows a code. Tried disconnecting ECM and battery but codes remain. Is there any way to clear without ecmspy or ebr cables? Any help would be appreciated not anywhere close to stock ECM. K&N and FMF slip- on |

I assume this is the race ECM... if so the codes are just codes from when they load the tune on the bench... you can send the codes to EBR to verify the codes are just the ones from the programming... If it feels down on power i would get it checked out on a dyno to verify its operation... |

Sorry to hear you are feeling a lock of power going from stock to race ECM. I have no complaints and my set up is identical to yours. I would not worry about the codes. They are historical codes from when they programmed and tested the ECM. I too have heard the 50 starts deal...but I've started and run my bike more than 50 times and they are still there... |

If you have a ecm spy and a cable pm me and I'll give you the 49th startup cell location counter reset instructions.after thr 50th startup the ecm goes through a check mode and tests all the sensors . (Message edited by blackflash on February 28, 2010) |

I just installed the EBR Race(pump gas)ECM last night with the RT-5 slip on (K&N not arrived yet)and did the De-Noid removal proceedure, disconnected the bank angle sensor and reset the TPS. Took it out for a cold air temp=38degF.CT ride 80mi total. Since the bike is being broke in I have not beat it to badly but here is my first impressions and maybe a problem or maybe not. First of all the bike runs a bit better in the 3-4k range and pulls nice through mid range, but of course it is not a mild mannered city bike and the highway playing around did not reveal (to my but meter) any obvious big hit or much gain in peak hp but it is smoother getting there. I can tell the bike is running about 12 deg cooler than before (now 172 vrs 185) vrs stock ecm. But here is my question, after getting off the highway and riding back road home (1st and second gear) I notice two unusual things. My gage for AT was reading 38 deg when I left the house but was varying between 46 and 60 deg. (it certainly was not that warm) Second unusual thing was when I down shifted lower gears and have the engine slow me down, it would try to maintain 2500rpm with the throttle shut. Like pushing me along. Do I need to reset the TPS again or is something else going on? |

That's new to me. I did notice a lot less back torque so maybe the RPM bump is how they accomplish that. All my temps and stuff appear normal. |

Blackbear, if your EBR ECM number ends with a 62, you do not need to disconnect the bank angle sensor. EBR verified this in an email. As far as the AT reading between 46 and 60 degrees, this might be from the radiator heat drafting into the air intake under the triple tree. The air intake temp. sensor is located right at the front of the intake. You can see it if you look there just to the right of the opening. The down shifting issue sounds normal. Mine acts the same way. It may be a symptom of the higher idle of the EBR racing ECM. Hope this helps. |

Redbat, my EBR ECM is Y0152.10AZ 1125r model pre-programmed ECM for use with pump gas. I don't see any "62" referance. |

Blackbear, You need to reset the TPS every time, before you start the bike EVERY TIME YES. |

Reset the tps eveytime?? god i hope not... you dont need to do that with a stock ecm, why would this one be any different? its the same ecm, justa different calibration in it.. black bear on the ECM itself, it should have a white tag or marking with 62.. atleast mine did, actually both of them did, heck the first one had my name.. |

Justa4banger thanks, I took a pic of the race ECM just before I installed it and yes it has the last few #s 062. So I guess I didn't need to unplug the bank angle sensor. I'll plug it back in. Now as for the TPS reset procedure "every time I go for a ride" can that be real!! Also, I read a lot about error codes, but I put on 80 miles today and I don't believe I have any error codes showing. |

Justa4banger, When the first 2008 1125R cam out, I noticed this on the dyno to do this. And start telling people to do this. YOU NEED TO DO THAT ALSO WITH THE STOCK ECM EVERY TIME. When you reset the TPS and start the bike, it is changing the degree already of the TPS Sensor, by shutting the bike down and start it again without doing A TPS reset, the amount of degree is changed. Even when the bike runs stationary, it is not running on 1 and the same percentage. If you want the bike to run every time the same as the last time you shut it off, RESET THE TPS |

I disagree with the reset every time approach...That sounds off to me. I have not done TPS reset for months, and still see a closed reading of "2" and open reading of "100". This has been the same reading for each and every one of the dozens of times I have checked since last reset. |

Could someone just confirm the proper method to reset TPS? I have read here that you turn on the key and before starting open the throttle WOT and hold one second, close one second, repeat a total of three times. Does it matter if the ignition switch is on or off? Any other factors to consider? Thanks. |

Easy, I am just saying that TPS is indicating correct positions consistently on my 2008 MY 1125R. That said, my interpretation is that you are either implying that the TPS is indicating incorrect values, or your blanket statement may not be accurate. Can you provide any more details? I would like to check anything you may be able to offer, against my own bike. |

Ponti, How do you measure the TPS signal.. Mountainstorm, Contact on, wait untill check engine light is off. Then open close 3 times |

Easy, I am measuring throttle position via TPS indicator in diagnostics on cluster. TPS closed value of 2, open value 100. No additional information is provided in the FSM as far as I can tell. Have had no indicator that anything may be wrong with the sensor, so have not referred to my electrical diagnostics manual. Is your measuring process different? What are the steps? What values do you see using your process, and at those times what is displayed for throttle position in diagnostics? |

Sorry easy, i also can not agree that a TPS reset should be done eveytime before you ride.. IF the TPS was that sensitive you would see/feel changes while riding.... Also the values never change when in DAIG MODE on my bike..same as ponti. If you have proof that it makes a difference i would love to hear it...enlighten me What makes this TPS on THIS buell different from every other TPS on the planet..??????? |

So you also only used the diagnose mode on the bike and nothing else to measure the signal, well then try too use another tool to measure THE TPS signal in your case and let me know what happende here. And if you don't want too that's fine.. |

What I was told .... During a phone conversation with Michael Richter from EBR a couple a Saturdays ago , Michael had told me at least , that the current version does not require TPS to be reset everytime when installed , however , if the ECM were to be removed and re-installed , you will need to reset it everytime you ride .... I would send them an email if you want to know exactly . |

Easy , I'll gladly entertain your method once i get back, but if anything i imagine values might be a bit lower/higher but not change every time i start the bike... I can see if the DIAG MDOE shows 4.2 volts max and a multimeter shows higher or lower, but your suggestion that turning the bike on and off changes the tps voltage... i find that hard to believe... |

Thanks EasyRider. I was not sure if the contact needed to be on or not. Just for yucks I do reset the TPS before I head out. It's not that big a deal. 6 seconds is not going to ruin my day. Interesting to hear that EBR says it is not required each and every start up. It's one of those "Buell Lore" phenomena that floats around. |

I can only tell what i see on my dyno, and tell that to other people who mith concern, I don't tell things other people tell, I only tell what i experience myself. Do with it whatever you like, I always reset the TPS when I take my baby's for a spin. Even with a EBR race ECM I reset the TPS (-: (Message edited by easyrider on March 01, 2010) |

resetting the TPS on the 1125 is easy I do it every now and again in the summer and directly after the winter when the bike hasn't been used much. Much easier process than with the 2006 Firebolt |

My bike went in to the dealers over the weekend because the bike sometimes is not responsive. it wasn't faulting when e started it but they said they would look at it. they came back and said that the throttle position sensor was fault. only giving out 70 at full throttle (2.68V) they showed me a reading of a bike at 100 (4.00V) they then said they need to change the throttle bodies as a complete unit because buell specify this when this fault occurs. is this right or could it have been put right by carrying out the tps reset procedure? cheer Kev |
