Hey guys I wasn't too sure where else to put this so I apologize if it is in the incorrect place. I am wondering if you guys will lend a minute to give me some thoughts/opinions on this. I just got back from one of our dealers here (blue springs) and I am not too sure of what I was told and sold. I went in looking to pick up an oil filter a new set of the Buell Pro Spark Plugs (32822-01Y) and a set of the Buell Pro Spark Plug Wires (31955-01Y). Well naturally they had the filter, well the short one, I asked for the Dyno and was told they didn't have it. I gave them both of the part numbers for the plugs and the plug wires. The plugs they didn't have. Ok well how about the HD equivelent? Me: "these are the same thing?" Parts guy: "yup well as far as I know." (first hint of worry) Ok I will try them. he Gives me some screaming eagle triple platinum plugs part number 32996-01 . I say "ok I also need these plug wires." He looks in the computer "well that is a discontinued part number are you sure you wrote it down correctly?" I get him to look in the 2003 catalog and yup the numbers are right. He says "well I can't get you those." "We dont have any and appearently cant get them. I can sell you some HD ones but looks like they will be pretty long." I say no "thanks is thier anyone you can call to see if they have any left", "well no not really I can try to call the jerks at Buell tommarow and see if I can get you some." At this point I can see where this is going I say "ok well I would appreciate it if you would find out and let me know." I pay for the filter and the plugs he gave me and I split promptly. Now my questions. Should I use these plugs? Or should I take them back? I don't want to F anything up. I am attempting to service this bike myself not ruin it. What should I do about the plug wires? Buell is not making a set of wires anymore for our older tube bikes? I guess I am just having a hard time believing that 6 months into the year and parts in the catalog (which have been in each years catalog since I bought my bike) are now discontinued with no other replacements available?? Or does this guy just have no clue? Well anyway. I probably should have waited to talk to you guys but I was anxious to start tackling some of this stuff this weekend. Well I appreciate any thoughts/opinions you guys may have for me.. | ||

Sounds like you entered the apathetic dealer zone. We've all been there. Personally I'd move on. | ||

"I can try to call the jerks at Buell" Call Buell customer service and ask them if they can recommend a better dealer. Tell them why you are asking. Then move on. You can try to improve things at that dealership, but if the owners won't participate then it is a lost cause. Or keep asking around there until you find an employee who does know Buells or is at least supportive and then use only that specific employee. I've done that at one dealership and it really annoys the rest of the employees when I stand there waiting while the other employees are doing nothing. Eventually they'll figure it out. | ||

Yea I hear you guys. This is nothing new around here. I just felt I needed to share the experience. It never suprizes me really. Anybody have any thoughts on using the spark plugs? Any thoughts on the plug wires being obsolete?? | ||

Personally, I wouldn't use'em without understanding what the heat range is (which I have no idea). My information source indicates the plug wires are still available, $12.95. Your experience makes me appreciate having High Country HD/Buell next door, those guys are always helpful and have never tried to pull that kind of BS on me. | ||

Take the plugs back, better safe than sorry. I don't know if they'll work well for your bike or not though. Plug wires are available from better dealerships. Click some of the sponsor's links on the site here and one of them should be able to set you up in a hurry. Then take the parts bag back to that dealership near you and show them that the parts are in fact available and that the only jerks around are, ... well ... you probably get the idea.  One of the dealers local to me had the wires hanging on the wall when I was there last week. The plugs are placed in your hand as soon as you say Buell. Usually I just have to say "plugs" since at that shop they know what I ride. A good dealership is always more help than hinderence. (I don't know how to spell hindrence, hinderenerence, hassle today). | ||

Crap that is what I figured. So I called the other 3 dealerships in the city and no one had the parts. I called Topeka HD/Buell and they have both the plugs and the wires in stock so looks like I'm taking a ride to Topeka sometime this week. I can't wait till Central HD/Buell gets up to speed on the Buell side! Oh well! Thanks for the input guys! | ||

This does not appear to be happening. The parts guy there told me they only stock parts for the Blast, they have no demo bikes, this even though they claim to be a full line Buell dealer. I wouldn't hold my breath. Get familiar with the route on K-40 to Topeka. As long as Dave and Bruce are there the Tubers will be well taken care of, despite the ownership not giving much commitment to other Buell things like accessories. | ||

I tried to get those same wires myself. They have been discontinued...the existing stock is all there is. My dealer had a couple sets on the floor and told me they had none over the phone! Ah well...I got 'em from Accel instead. The V-Rod plugs are the equivalent to the Buell cool range plugs (10R12A or something like that). | ||

Tripper- yup! I will be taking that route on saturday morning!  When I called Dave wasn't around (probably lunch) I got another guy their who is hooking me up with the plugs and the wires. I will still hold out hope for Central. (never hurts to hope!) Rick- What is Accel? Pardon my ignorance! | ||

Accel makes performance plug wires for Harley and Buell...only just not in the pretty colors. | ||
