Search high and wide on Google and all Buell forums, but couldn't find it. Was going to reply in another thread about the 2010 LED tail light but they were in archive so I'd probably never get an answer. Could someone with a 2010 parts catalogue tell me what the part number is for a 2010 clear LED tail light WITH the license plate illuminator lamp? WITHOUT it, it's Y0401.7AC ... I just can't find any info about the 2010 license plate light. How it mounts. How to modify plastic under tail light to account for it, etc. Any info is appreciated. Thank you |

Call Al at American Sportbike. I bought it from him he may have to wire it to fit the 09 Cr. Thats what he did for me and then its just plug in and go. If you want illumination on the license plate you will have to drill a little hole underneath tail section. I have not done that yet. I dont think I want to unless a Cop gives me a fix it ticket. www.americansportbike.com |

good option from Al or you could also talk to Robert at www.XBLights.net He is also a sponsor here and makes awesome pieces. Mine is clear with running light strips, brake light and blinkers all in one. Its also completely plug and play. I used a dremel tool to open up the bottom of the undertail since i also ordered mine with led's for the lic plate built in. Takes two seconds and looks awesome. PM me if you need pics or info too. Thanks guys. Just how it's worded on all the dealer's ordering pages it makes it sound like there's an option to get the 2010 taillamp WITH the license light other than the stock mudgaurd unit. I'm getting Jardin'e FE. Maybe my thinking's screwed up, lol. I like Robert's taillights, a lot, I just don't have a $200+ taillight in the budget right now. $50 seems too reasonable to pass up for a stock LED component ... I just want a better distinction between running mode and brake mode, which the 2010 unit does better. I know it's not as bright. I know drilling/trimming the plastic under the light works with the '08-09 lights because the plastic under there is clear (white light on plate), but for the '10 light wouldn't it make the plate light red since the lens is clear and LEDs are red? Plus if the LEDs have any directionality at all it wouldn't light up the plate much. I just know the LEOs around here would pull me over in a quick second for a red plate light / no plate light. No, because there is only one lamp. The license plate light is separate, and not needed on 1125 models. |

Sorry, I edited my post Froggy. The reason I ask is because I'm getting rid of the stocker fender. That makes sense though ... I just remember seeing another unit that slips behind and under the taillight (maybe on the XB's?) ... I know it'd require trimming of the under light plastic which I wouldn't mind doing. Y0514.7AA That is the 2010 license plate light. Basically a housing with a 194 bulb that screws to the back of the 2010 tail light. I have it on my CR with the 2010 LED light. I trimmed the undertail to let it shine through onto my plate. ac |

Yeah Al got me the 2010 model LED tail light and license light comes all built in to one for around $50. He said to just drill a little hole underneath tail section to get the illumination if I wanted it. He also has an option for all into one LED and turn signals not sure about the license light on that one. Illumination should be clear. I didnt really ask him if there would be a little red coming out of the hole after drilled. |

That's all I needed. Time to contact Frederick Buell and get my parts. Should cantact Al first to see if he's got them and could do that for me. Thanks. (Message edited by jeepinbueller on February 26, 2010) (Message edited by jeepinbueller on February 26, 2010) |

Freezer, Are you sure that is the BUELL 2010 light? That pricing doesn't sound possible. The Buell light lists for $57 and the plate light for $15. I know Al sells a few different aftermarket examples. ac |

Now Al told me the connections need to be tweaked a little to fit in the 09. I would check before you buy if you are going the 2010 LED route. |

Yes. 2010 tail lights come with a connector on the wire lead to mate to a 2010 wiring harness. No big deal. You cut that off and install spade connectors to match the 2009- lights. Done. ac |

Yep there you go. I believe I bought it November of 08 if I recall. It was 50 to 60 bucks. I said hell yeah a lot of aftermarket was ranging well over $100. |

Avc, you're a God-sent. Google didn't bring that page up b/c he used lower-case letters in the part number >:/ lol I'll be going with this, along with an LED 194 bulb from another source. Perfect (though I'm going to try and make it look stock with a Dremel tool and sand paper. His cuts look a little edgy ) I just hope it works like it did on that Lightning. We'll see, if not, $15 ain't losing much. (Message edited by jeepinbueller on February 26, 2010) |

It works great on the 1125R. To be honest the LED is kind of a wast back there. The LEDs are generally made to shine forward and this relies on the light shining 90 degree down. FYI, the factory part comes with a bulb. I believe it has a harness, but the stock 1125R plate light bulb/holder can be used directly so no wire mods are necessary at all. ac |

Funny I did not realize there were two part numbers. Al had one already set up for me. I just plugged it in. |
