Well a very sad event occurred in my life Sunday. A dog jumped in front of me and caused me to crash my bike. I haven't looked at it closely yet but at a glimpse prior to leaving the scene in an ambulance I would say it is definitely totaled. Bent the front forks, Broke the stem mounts off the front of the tank/frame, and shattered the fairing and stay. What I didn't see that a buddy told me was that the whole left side of the bike is gone and that side of the tank/frame is caved in. It made me so sick. That was my baby. I spent the week in a trauma center with a lacerated spleen and had an operation to fix that. Just came home today. I'm in a lot of pain but I know it could have been worse. I never got around to taking any good pics before the crash but I have a few from my blackberry that I will try to post to show some of the mods I did. Here's a list: Homemade fender eliminator LED taillight with integrated signals Crosstrax pegs with 1" drop DHM swingarm slider spools Modified exhaust tip Pegasus tank decals Black reflective wheel stripes Gloss black muffler, heat shield (both), tire hugger, and belt guards Cut down upper belt guard 12V accessory outlet behind fairing RAM GPS mount Blue accent LED lighting Quick detach kit for rider seat Traction grips Kick Ash Windscreen Clear right heel protector Denoid I know someone recently showed how to post pics but I cant find that thread with the search function. Can someone help me out? |

Out of curiosity, what were you wearing for gear during the crash? For pics, the easiest way is probably to upload to Piccasa or Photobucket or something & link them that way. |

I had on my full face scorpion helmet (which suffered some bed scars), a leather riding jacket that a friend has and I haven't seen yet, Mechanics gloves (which only had one hole tore in them and scraped a knuckle), and leather boots that held up well. Unfortunately I didn't have protection on my legs, only jeans, so my legs suffered some pretty bad scrapes, but I consider those minor compared to my spleen. |

Oh man.... Sorry to hear that Dan. I take it you avoided hitting the dog and then hit something harder than a dog? As syonic says get a photobucket account, upload your pics into an album you can resize them as necessary (the medium size seems to work well) and link them to this site. on photobucket, once you click on the picture you want to link, you'll see in the lower left corner of the screen a box that says "share this image" with 4 codes. you want to click on the img code, it will auto copy, then you just paste the link in your thread. If I can do it..anyone can. Wishing you a quick and a full recovery Mike G |

You can click on the upload attachment button below and upload your photos that way, or you can hotlink them off photobucket/imageshack or any other online photo hosting using the Imagelink command. Details are in the Help link at the bottom of every page. |

I raced a raccoon the other morning and won! If I had of lost, then i'd probably be making a similar post. That stupid raccoon was trying to cross a 4 lane divided highway at 5am in the morning. I left the bike in 5th gear to give him a sporting chance. Can I buy your inner airbox from you, please! Sorry about your bike. |

Buffpilot. I avoided hitting it because its owner was standing at the roadside. I've had lots of people offer to kill it for me though |

I pulled up next to a group of bikes on a backroad one time, and a full HD bagger had hit a 100lb Labrador Retriever. I learned on that day that dogs arent near as squishy as youd think, because it thrashed that bagger. Hope you get well man, and I wish people would put their dog in a fence. On top of safety for people on bikes, youd think that someone who even mildly cared about their dog would lock them up so they cant get hit by a car or something. Get well soon man, hope you have a quick recovery. |

I saw this sandblasted bare metal Buell and had no clue what it was. It was parked out back at a bar I had just started hanging out at. Fast forward to now. I'm buying an 1125r and I realized that was a Buell in back of the bar. (it was beyond beautiful. Bare metal and carbon fiber). So a month ago i ask the bartender who's the owner and where are they. She says "Ken Fisher" and he ran into the back of a truck. No skid marks and he didn't make it. I know I lost a best friend that I never had. I'm very glad your still here cause we are the best friends we could ever have. |

Preface each with this, but without the space after the slash. \ imagelink{http.bla.bla} Links with spaces in the address don't work right though. They will turn out like this if they're formatted correctly. This is someone else's photobucket pic.

Not that its any of my business or anything, but do you plan on filing a law suit against the dog owner? I would. Id make him pay for my bike and my hospital bills for being an idiot and not locking his dog up. |

Man that really sucks. Did the owner not have control of his animal? If not he's responsible. Hope you totally heal up. Hoping I don't sound too much like a vulture, think you'll want to sell the Ram mount? Where did it actually mount? |

Budgolf: I used gloss black engine enamel on the exhaust can. IMO it made it look 100% better. After a little while riding the gloss wore off the collector but it still looked better than factory. Mr incognito: I can't file a lawsuit because it happen on a back road out in the country and there is no leash law there. It's no different than any wild animal being in the road in the eyes of the trooper. Sknight: I don't think I will sell the ram mount because I'm sure I will reuse it even if it's not on another bike. It was the mount that is simply the 1" ball with a bolt coming out of it and I drill a hole in the fairing stay directly in front of the IC. It looked great. Not too bulky or unappealing when I didn't have the GPS on it. I used the shortest possible arm on the GPS bracket and it let it sit directly over the IC between it and the windscreen. |

I agree, it looks much better. And I bet it's easier to keep clean. I think I'll go buy some VHT tomorrow. As far as the dog owner goes, I think you should call a lawyer. Most will talk to you for free. I had a dog one time that I let run loose all the time (lived out in the country) and she jumped at a horse with a rider riding down the road. Horse bucked, girl fell off and broke her shoulder, and I was about 15,00 dollars lighter after paying for the surgery she needed. I was responsible. Of course I didn't fight it. A dog is property not a wild animal. I bet if that guys dog attacked a kid and killed him or had rabies that trooper would have a different opinion. |
