for those interested in the fmf pipe..i just installed it last week and as luck would have it, we had one 40 degree day dry and sunny. i have the ebr race ecm as well....i had the quiet insert installed in the least quiet position...at idle it is loud, id say just below the obnoxious sound level..but tolerable...at speed it sounds like a deep v8...and ironically not that loud..a real nice tone. for comparison purposes i have a vance n hines on my s1...at idle the 1125cr is louder...guessing due to it idles at 1600rpm vs 1200 on the s1...at speed id say the db is around the same..hope this helps with those of you thinking of a slip on. |

Is there anyway to modify the "quiet insert" to make it a little quieter? I think it could be tappered a little more from what it looks like. |

Grrr I can't decide if I want this pipe, lol. $352 shipped is a crazy deal on an exhaust. Kinda' want to wait for the Barker or X1 exhaust to finish development. Decisions decision, thanks for the heads up regardless. (Message edited by JeepinBueller on February 24, 2010) |

Just ordered one in carbon fiber/titanium. Was stuck in "indecision" mode for the last few weeks. This made it easy, thanks for the FYI! |

Kinda' want to wait for the Barker or X1 exhaust to finish development, but they're over $500 each. Barker's comes with a tune. The Barkers price is $395.} |

but they're over $500 each. Barker's comes with a tune. The Barkers is $395.00 retail, color option $50.00, quiet core option $20, flat rate US shipping $25.00. ($380.50 forum price, for pipe & shipping). There is no tune available that I'm aware of.} (Message edited by puzzled on February 24, 2010) |

Right you are Puzzled, I was too quick with the fingers and got confused. The X1 exhaust will come with a tune but is ~$750. BWB price for the Barker's is $380 shipped? Damn ... just complicates things. Have you heard that beast?! Sexy ... FMF just sounds kinda' loud and raspy ... but not a lot of bass from what I've heard. |

Just check in with UTube and there are several postings of sound clips of the FMF Apex slip on. One clip in particular kind of bothered me. The owner ran the bike up and down a parking lot with his camera in a stationary position. It was clear on de-exceleration the pipe produced a clear and distinctive backfiring and popping noises. I'm fairly sure a FatDuc manipulator will fix that because the bike is likely running too lean. The prototypes for the FatDuc should be ready soon according to the inventor. Installing the connector for the rear cylinder should be easy, but the front cylinder is another matter. Hopefully all it takes is removing the radiator cowl. Great price for the FMF though. |

999: that was my video, I've been meaning to delete and redo it - that was an exhaust leak (put pipe on with no silicone) - not a pop due to being lean - I just sold the pipe to my bro-in-law tho - we will get a better video soon |

How's everyone's consensus of the sound? I listened to Barker's video and it doesn't seem it has a lot of bass in the note. When you hammer on it under load does it give you a nice thump or is it all mid to higher pitched? It doesn't affect power from what I hear, which is fine with me. Hopefully an EBR pump gas ECM will help out free up something. |

07xb12ss: If you fixed it the pipe sounded great otherwise. If you don't mind, why did you sell it? |

-The_ROCK, Thanks for the response, I'am aware of their site, thats where I got the contact info. and tried several times to get info. on their SS exhaust. The one pictured is a full system, for $1699.99. I love the round can SS look, that's why I was trying to find out if they have a Slip-on version. The slip-on they offer is Carbon Fiber. Good price. But no response or info. on a SS slip-on. Really liking the D_adams RT, there is no sound better, like that one. Barkers is another choice, good sound and Love the looks. Not a lot of info.(like performance or how well they work w/ a ecm) but if they could gain some HP through out the power band and not loose any, I'd be down for one. They might even be considered the next Vance&Hines, or Muzzy! |

Ottobotz-FMF only offers the Carbon body Ti caps slip on. FMF is a racing company so they try to look the racing part as well. $439.99 through March 31 through your local dealer via the Take 20 off promotion. |

DownTown Harley Located in Renton, WA treated Me very unfairly. I had a 2001S3T that i got and had for 8 years. I had been the force behind 3 Bike sales at their shop. Made my payments for 7 years on time. I was wanting to test drive the 1125R, he wouldnt let me test drive it? and I wanted to buy it! so the buell tech that knew i was a Buell told the manager "dude, let him test drive" so they let me. I went in to sign papers for $10k, they tried to get me on 21%, my credit wasnt that bad. we complained and magically he could drop it to 17% which still blew. so someone at their shop mentioned something quietly in passing that i was suppose to take the hint (about the future of Buell) I didnt pick up on it. so i buy it. 8 months later Buell shuts their doors. and Downtown Harley in Renton drops price to $6000. I spoke to the guy who mentioned about future of buell 8months prior, he said "their was writing on the wall, i just could say anything". So in 8 months I loose $4000. ontop of that they screw me at 17%. I personally think Harley knew the whole time, and till it was annoucened wanted to get every penny outta Buell lovers and watched us buy at full price for 1 year before they stuck a @#$% in our ass. Unhappy. I still love Buell, I still love the look, the sound, the feel. but I dont like my loyalty being taken advantage of. I will never send another friend to Downtown Harley in Renton WA. I was responsible Myself for $36,000 in sales for them. not to mention their INTEREST on the back end. somebody is laughing all the way... |
