Hoser, If you've got some way to support the frame, undo the shock and let the swingarm move in it's full range. Then just adjust it when the three (axle, bolt and shaft) are in a line with each other. |

Greg, How's it hard on the isolators? I see it being hard on the right side wheel bearings and the tranny output shaft bearings, but not the isolators. Chain tension load is reacted through rear sprocket to wheel hub to bearings to axle to swingarm to mounting block to tranny cases to tranny bearings to output shaft to drive sprocket. The rear isolators just support the chassis and are not in the load path of the drive chain/belt tension reaction. Jeff, I'd just make darn sure the suspension can go full travel without the chain becoming overtight. Just unpin the shock and check/adjust it through the full travel of the swingarm, then use that as a baseline for the future . |

Blake: Another worthy suggestion , I will follow your's and Peters direction before it goes on the dyno this week , and keep youz guyz posted on the result , it will lilely reach / exceed 100hp , has 205lb/in3 cranking pressure , S.E. .536" cams Mikuni hsr 42 , buell Pro series exhaust system , late crank , windage tray etc. , etc. |

Hoser, Peters suggestion sounds right on to me. BTW, just to let you know, I just adjusted my chain on my RR last week. My RR manual states between 1 1/2" and 2" of free up and down movement measured directly below the foot peg with the bike unloaded. -JW:> |

Just got back from doing 2800 miles on the S2T,in New England.Had a ball!Met Chauley(sp),met Kevin Smith from San,Jose.I don't remember his user name.Met Jim Daniels, who lurks on this board. And his wife Ann,who was a real trooper, putting up with the three amigos,on three Parkway Blue S2's,rain and wild rides thru the countryside of seven states.Did a hundered miles or so with Darthane(Brian).Made several dozen new friends. And remembered why I ride a Buell, the people, the roads and a bike thats more fun than aught to be legal!Did I mention the people? There was the guy in the gift shop on top of Mt. Washington who asked what I road from Columbus,Oh. to New England. When I replied a Buell,he had a look of amazement on his face and asked, how long did that take?Only seven days.At hearing this shocking statement,he said did you call ahead to set up feed?Trying to hide a chuckle,I told him it's Buell,B.U.E.L.L.,not mule! With that,I think I'll go fall in bed. Mike Powell(missing the road!) edited by buellish on June 16, 2003 |

The S1 at Wieblers has about 800 miles on it. I took it out for a spin last summer. VR1203, I'm going to be back in Dubuque in a month, we'll have to meet up somewhere and go for a cruise. I know Dave has all sorts of good stuff going on in Waterloo! Alex |

Buellish, LOL! That's great! Do I smell a new installment to the Tale Section on its way? Jeff, Sorry for the duplicate suggestion, I'm sometimes slow to post where Peter is a real quickie (not sure if his misses would confirm that or not ). Your customer's race bike sounds like a real beast. Will be interested to hear/see the dyno results. The ~2" sounds about right since the belts are now specified to be between 1.5" and 1.75" free play, right? Have you heard if Costa Mouzouris is campaigning his XB9R again this year in the Canadian Thunder series? I really enjoyed following his exploits last year. |

Blake Blasterd, Buell 27661-00Y (10R12) (Supersedes old/hotter 6R12 OEM plugs) NGK DPR7EA-9 hot (not recommended) NGK DPR8EA-9 medium NGK DPR9EA-9 cool (equivalent to Buell 10R12) DCPR same except socket size

NGK equivalent to 10R12 would be their DPR9EA-9 plugs. It has been difficult for me to find them with the end caps, so if you have a set of plugs with screw on end caps, save the end caps for future use. |

Blake , Peter , Greg , ........ Thanks for the help , today I knocked off early to set up the chain , do some preliminary dyno runs and put some run time on this engine , I was afraid of the chain derailing the way it is to be set up for riding . I adjusted it a little tighter for the dyno time , will back it of for track use , any body wanna see the graph ?? , it's a scanned print , tomorrow I will have another session and so I can do the rejet / retard & advance routine. The air / fuel graph isn't ideal yet , too much pump shot and the midrange is lean. |

Hi all, Laid the Sportster down a few weeks ago after a Geo slammed on brakes right in front of me. I wasn't on the Buell so didn't have all the stuff on. I didn't have my full face on, lost both my front teeth to the asphalt gods. The dentist dug what was left of them (the roots) out the next day. Not fun I tell ya. Got the temporary bridge in now. It feels weird, kinda like wearing a football mouthpiece (ah the memories), but I think I'll get use to it. Damn near lost it yesterday eating corn on the cob at Dad's house. I have a new appreciation for people with dentures. I get the permanent bridge put in once I get back from Sturgis. All is well anyway. Roadrash is healing nicely. I wish I had owned some Neosporin stock prior to the spill. That stuff is expensive. I never realized fake teeth were so expensive too. A lot more than a full face helmet. The bike didn't get hurt too bad. It basically amounted to getting the handlebars, turnsignals, mirrors etc I've been wanting for 5 years. Shit happens. ride safe, lib |

Blake: I'm not sure about Costa , that's way far from here , so I have not watched any of that series , I'm hoping the Canadian thunder series comes to the west , some of the locals here race buells but they run in middleweight sportbike , we need a class that Buell motorcycles can compete in. I would rather build an engine with the intent of it lasting an entire season than some high strung rolling time bomb , that blazes around for a while then grenades. Classes in Calgary are - Open Sportbike Buells get thier asses spanked in that one , Middle weight sport bike - Buells finish mid to back of the pack . Edmonton is a tighter track and they have a "super twins" class , which a Buell can potentially win or place respectably. |

Buellish, sorry I missed you and didn't get a chance to ride with ya. I'm currently still in NH,since my family lives here. But I rode in from AZ a week ago, and have been having a ball running the windy back roads for daze... ) I'll be heading back in another two days, my S2 and I can stop for a visit in OH if your around and have a few cold ones... drop me a line. Ride hard, ride fast, if it wasn't for us, the fast lane would rust... |

Greg, I see your point. If the chain is tight enough to actually hinder swingarm movement, you'll have much more serious problems than the isolators getting loaded up. FB, You need a Storm Front topic for that info. Lib, Heal fast. Will you continue choosing your protective gear according to the style of bike you are riding? I'm betting no. Got a pic of your toothless grin? Might fit in well on the crash page. |

Lib, I know what you speak of. Still feels weird eating corn on the cob with four crowns on my upper set. It was so odd at first that I found it hard to bite into anything substantial. It is more due to loss of the nerves than anything else. |

Bartimus, If you stop in Ohio for a cold one with me,you will have missed me and my S2 by a couple of days.I live in Woodstock,Georgia and made it home yesterday.I was in OH. for two reasons, the BRAG Northeast Touring Adventure started in the Coloumbus area. And my friend Norbert Wickelman, who also rides a 96'Parkway Blue S2,lives in Xenia,OH. and made the trip with me. But you are more than welcome to stop by if you come thru the Atlanta area. |

Blake, as far as I know, Costa is not racing in the Canadian Thunder series this year. He is however competeing in the SuperMoto series. See the details here: http://www.supermotocanada.com/home.shtml I hope motard racing takes off here in Canada. It sure is a lot of fun.
