Yesterday at Willow Springs International Raceway - Streets of Willow course, Shawn set two class lap records on the R6! He had initially set the absolute lap record but a couple races later, Jeremy Toye cut a couple tenths of a second of Shawn's lap time for the overall record. Shawn now holds the 600 Modified Production and 600 Superstock class records! When you consider that Toye was racing the CBR1000RR in Superbike prep - close to 200HP, Shawn's times on the R6 are that much more impressive. Man, you CA riders really ought to come out to watch - yeah, it's hours from NOWHERE to get to Willow but it's HELLA cheap entertainment. |

Steve, Willow is only about 12 hours from ABQ. It's about the same as going to Vegas or the new Chuckwalla track from here. I think it is safe to say that Lisa and I will make one trip to Willow sometime later this year. I've heard so much about it, got to see it. Probably worth it to make the 4 trip. |

Good for Shawn. Doesn't mean much for Buell enthusiasts in a Buell forum though... unless we're rooting for him honing his skills for the Big Bike. Aak, running, ducking for cover... |

He doesn't need to hone his skills for the big bike, he's going to be racing it in just a few weeks at Daytona. |

just today, I was trolling Tilley's site & came up with these facts: Shawn won the 1st-ever race on a [branded] Buell, a 1998 AMA Pro Thunder race, for Don's team - also in 1998, Higbee won races in AMA Sporty class, again for Tilley's (Message edited by firstbuell on February 23, 2010) (Message edited by firstbuell on February 23, 2010) |

Yeah, The Hammer bike AND the Robison Hammer clone were way before that and they won many races back in those distant times.........Maybe they don't count because they had bored and stroked XR-750 ( Harley ) engines? |

jeesh!! my bad, it was 1988 - a simple mis-type...... guys, even if this business about Shawn riding the brand's inaugural racewinner is still inaccurate [thx for "AM" link, Court], I still hold Shawn in a unique, high regard for his many valuable contributions to our Buell machinery's development |

Shawn is one heck of a nice guy and an exciting racer. He's no where near the first to race a Buell. |

Would it be inaccurate to say that Shawn played a huge part in the development of the Buells that we are all riding? He deserves our gratitude and wishes of success with anything that he is racing. |

You gotta realize that the 1125R he's going to ride has no contingency money except whatever Dunlop and the other incidental sponsors are putting out. Shawn has to race the 200 miler on the 1125R almost entirely out of pocket. He COULD race the R6 and more easily spend other people's money. GO Shawn, Go Erik Buell Racing, Go Buell Racers!!! |
