I recently purchased a 2001 X1 with 14k miles. found a large leak coming from the primary cover. I pulled the cover off and i didnt pay any attention to the timing. I need help! |

Do you have a service manual? I'm not to sure, but I don't think there are any "timing" issues relating to the primary drive. As I recall when I pulled my primary drive cover (to rebuild my starter) the only real concern was getting the tension correct after I put the cover back on. The only "timing" issue is to make sure you put the gasket on before the cover Make sure you have the new updated (beefier) primary chain tensioner. I think the changeover was 2001 sometime, not sure when. Search the board here for pictures of before and after... |
