Just thought I'd post a happy warranty tale to prove they do happen I hadn't ridden for over a week so last Tuesday, I decided to ride Ronin, my 1125R. They were predicting rain so I was thinking it was a fairly good chance it wouldn't It was hot and humid and I was running a little late, fired him up and... clutch goes straight to the 'bar. I know the clutch is light, but I don't remember it being that light! Hmmm, maybe it's just me... pump clutch, drop into 1st... grass and mud every where then stall. I guess it's leaking somewhere! A bit of checking and found hydraulic fluid on the clutch cover. #$%#^@@*%^!!!!! Oh well, I still wanted to ride, so I pull out the X1. I haven't ridden "X" for a while... Starting to get hot and sweaty (I LOVE Brisbane summers... ), I hit the go button and... NADA, NOTHING, not even a click-click-click. #$%#^@@*%^!!!!! Flat battery or starter problem!? Deep breath, think Zen... I try again, and I can hear one of the relays clicking but nothing else. It wasn't a good sign, but still determined to ride, I go and grab the battery charger and hook it up. Knowing now that I'll be late no matter what, I decide to have a smoke and relax for 10 while I let it charge. I finish my smoke, hit the button and BRMMMM BRM BRM BRM, X fires into a nice rumble. Phew! I rode to work rattling windows and annoying the traffic and generally grinning like a fool, remembering why I love riding my tuber . The forecast was right though, I got soaked returning from a job in the city! In the afternoon I rang the dealer I bought Ronin from, Morgan & Wacker, and explained the problem. Gary said he'd find out how long it would take to get the parts and ring me back. Less than 10 minutes later he rang back and advised they had the latest kit in stock, they should be able to do it on thursday, and asked if I had "Harley-Assist"? I did (comes with all new Buells in Australia for the warranty period) and I rang them next. "Harley-Assist" were very helpful but advised they were flat out with the rain. I was okay with the bike being picked up the next morning, and a bike specialist towing contractor with a custom ute picked up the bike wednesday morning. Spoke to the dealer later in the day and they confirmed it would be done on thursday and they would ring when it was ready. I was starting to wonder if I should ring the dealer when the phone rang about 4pm. Clutch all fixed, pick it up whenever I'm ready I picked the bike up on friday. They had put in the latest kit (a one-piece seal instead of several parts?), and replaced the clutch cover as the fluid had got to the paint. Interestingly mine was the first they'd seen in the service department with 1125RS fairing panels. So even though my bike has had a failure with less than 2,000km's on it, I was truly impressed with the customer service and that the bike was fixed in less than four days. Total cost to me = $0, and I spent a day hooning around on X . |

Great success story. What year is your 1125? Just curious which models are effected. Thanks! |

His is an 09. The 08 and 09 models would most likely be affected. I now have the Rev C cover on my 08. I've gone through Rev A and Rev B. Rev C is suppose to be the permanent fix to this. So far those who have gotten it say it works. |

Great story, sucks you had the clutch issue, but nice that it was resolved quickly and without problems... I sometime wonder about this whole clutch leakage issue. My R is an 08 and with just over 3k miles in 2 months i haven't had a single sign of problems with the clutch.. i hope i never do, but atleast i know theres a quick fix out there for it , if i should have a leaking clutch.. |
