Yep, back to FEKs and yes there is a thread about one right below this one. So who likes which of the mass produced FEKs? Below you'll find one each from Jardine, STD (has LED signals), and Evotech (OE signals).

Personally I like Evotech's, but I HATE THEIR PRICE! So I would end up getting the STD. Why, because Jardine's does not have a plate light and I don't want to hack anything on my machine to make light for the plate.

Now I have a problem. I like a sleek tail. So I want to eliminate my fender and install an integrated tail light too. However, I ride in all weather. If I remove the fender will I get road grime all over my back? If so I think I'll keep the fender on.

All right let the threading begin!

i bought the one from sportbike lites.....

this is what it looked like after 24 hours...

Also those itty bitty led's IMO are worthless except for at night and even then they are barely adequate.

Now of course i got my money back and the company was great to work with in that respect, infact i'm sure other products they sell are just fine, but umm yea.. the FEK broke off...

Go with a Jardine and either take your time cutting out the section for the tail light or drill 3 small holes. either way you won't be able to notice anything unless you go looking for it.

AF Broham, use that COLA for the Evo and an XB light.

I am very happy with the Jardine. No "hacking" was involved for the light. I simply drilled 2 holes to let the light shine down from the tail light. Looks clean and easy to do.

Same results with the Jardine - Great price, good looking piece. The Evo was a candidate but I couldn't get my brain around paying three bills for one of these. With minimal work, here's how mine turned out >>

Kc10,

You said get the XB light? If I should know this, sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The actual light I want is the clear LED filled tail light which does the light, braking, and signals. Are we talking about the same one?

COLA, yeah it helps. I want to replace the stock can too. So the more I save on a FEK the more I can put towards a new can (I'm thinking Barker or Torque Hammer).

All,

Concerning the suggestion about drilling wholes for light... I think I could do that and it would come out pretty damn nice.

Since I never know where I am going to be riding every few years, I think I'd have to avoid the STD FEK. It just would not take some plates. Like the Italian plate I have now... way too big for the bracket.

Making one it not an option for me. I do not currently have a shop to play in. Also what I turn out might be be, but not as nice and the Evotech.

I used the Jardine, drilled 2 holes for a total of (3) mounting points, made up some angle bushings and everything is cool.

I didn't know about the ability to use the tail light to light the plate at the time I bought the kit, so I used the LED bolts.

With stocker turns or custom, this unit looks great and has a very high bang for buck.

if your remove the rear tail light you can see it has a provision for a license plate light, Buell just opted not to cut out the plastic around the light housing.

Now on the 2010 LED tail lights there is no provision for a license plate light...

My buddy just added 2010 tail light to his CR, looks sharp and its cheap..
