Finally got mine in... I know these have been posted before... but I just wanted to say how great this kit is... install was a breeze and the fit and finish is great... not to mention they are dirt cheap...
Sorry, forgot to post it... this is the 35watt kit at 6000k (Message edited by svt on February 19, 2010) |

I just installed the 3000k 35w HIDs from DDM. When you installed them, how did you wire the connectors? Since the connector is on the inside of the rubber boot, I had to cut a little slit to pull the wires through and then stuff the connector inside the headlight housing inside the rubber back. Did you do this the same way or did you find a better method. The reason I ask is the connector seems to want to push the rubber housing off the headlight assembly. I know eventually water will get in there. Not good. I was thinking about rebuilding it and putting barrel connectors in place of the big "stock type" connector. Hopefully the way I described all this makes sense. Other than that, these lights are amazing. Rode last night with them. Fantastic. Thanks, Chris (Message edited by hogzilla on February 19, 2010) |

Chris, I did the exact same thing, however, my boots do not appear to want to pop off? not sure what the difference would be... |

I ordered the cigarette lighter connector so I'll have to pull the fairing to connect it. I will take another look and see if I missed something. On mine the rubber backs are not real tight to the housing which is the main problem. The pressure of the connector inside easily pushes it off. They are kick ass lights. The look fantastic and function incredibly well. |

Was it the Slim kit, or just the normal $29.95 kit? |

I had to cut the boots also so that the cables could be put inside. No force against the boots once it is on though. I am not so worried about water getting in, as I thought all HID kits were water proof (BTW I have the star rotors H8 6k/35 watt)? I am more concerned about sand and fine particles getting in the headlight assembly. looking good! |

I tried to place an order today, backordred til 26 Feb. Ever notice how one page says $49 and now the main says $59. So I went to finish up the order and DDMs page froze up on me twice. I went to call the customer service number and its not a real number. Tried the fax and its no good either. Tried to contact some other affiliate alexcone or whatever and right to voicemail. Grrrrrr.... Anyone have another company that they went with for HIDs? Maybe a good working phone number for DDM and not the useless one off the homepage? I bought the 55W 5000K for a whiter light. No install problems except for the wire clips to hold the bulb in. I had to manually twist them so they would snap in. No issue after that, the unit works great and it was cheap. Fortunately, theres ample room under the fly shield to fit the big ballast and parts. |

I ordered on Feb 3rd. Got my order number. Got a CC processed email. Haven't gotten product or any emails since. Their "order tracking" on the web shows numbers higher than mine shipped. No clue at this point. ac |

It took two weeks for me to get mine. I was able to get through when I called them using the phone number. They just said they were backed up at the time. They also responded to email. It took a few days though. All the BadWeb orders are jackin' the system. |

by the way. for those of you who are hesitent on putting in the hid's on the highbeam because of the warmup time. i called and talked to the tech support and my solution is to tie the 2 ballasts together so they both go on with the lowbeam and then put a relay on one leg of the output of the highbeam ballast and trigger it from the high beam feed so you have instant on. |

Not sure what you're looking at. I just priced the 35w and it came up $49.95. Make sure to select H8 for the R. http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=10 7&parent=61 Also, don't forget to get your LEDs for the markers and license plates. $3 each for the 194. They are plug and play. Love mine. (Message edited by hogzilla on February 20, 2010) |

So what is the concensus 35w or 55w. I am on the fence about 4500K or 5000K for the color. I want as much visibility as possible. |

35w is more than enough.i was afraid the 55w would get too hot for the housing. i went with 5000k. they are super white, no blue. correction to my previous post on relays. i did not tie the 2 together,i put in a relay so the high and low beam are both on when i switch to high, then i am going to put in a relay to interrupt the high beam output of the ballast and trigger that from the high beam switch for instant on. |

XB12S_SD that actually sounds like a good idea. Well one of them, this last comment kind of confused me but i think i understand what your saying. Add a relay and have the hi's/lows come on together with low beam then wire the high beam switch to the output of the ballast on a relay and when you flicker the hi beams or turn them on, it will just allow the connection to go through the relay on the output of the ballast... only thing is i believe the bulb needs warm up time also, not just the ballast.... have you already wired your bike like this? have a video of it working? |

I would get the 35w for the R and 55 for the CR. That is what the bikes use stock and that is what I ordered. I ordered 4500k because I want max visible light. That is what I ordered the HIDs for after all, more usable light! ac |

There are 3 places to put the 194 bulbs. The two markers on either side of the Rs headlights and one in the license plate lamp. Gives off a nice amount of light. However, on the front it gets overwhelmed by the HIDs. Still looks good though. Might as well for the price. I have the 35w 3000k on my R. It is more than enough. It has a yellowish bright white look to it. Depends on the angle. It gets attention well. I'm not at all a fan of the blue light thing. Personal preference. Also, my philosophy on choosing yellow is that the human eye reacts to yellow and red most for warning signals. Why they use yellow and red for caution and stop lights and signs. Since we are trained to react to yellow light, I use that instead of blue. In bad weather, it also stands out more in gray than blue/purple does. (Message edited by hogzilla on February 21, 2010) |

Thanks guys. Im going to order the 35W 4500K kit and 3 194 Leds for the other lights. Anything to help pull less power with the awful charging system on our bikes is a good idea. |

Good luck. Hope you get them soon. Post back your experiences installing them. They are pretty straight forward. My only hiccup was dealing with the rubber boots and then getting all the wiring tucked back in and not binding against the fairing. After a couple tries it went together. Get a good supply of zip ties. |

Has anyone tried the 55w kit on an R? They are not on back order. Is all that relay stuff necessary? I know the things need to warm up, but i shouldn't have to deal with all that relay stuff just to switch from low to high whenever i need to! |
