Thank you all for this forum, it has been very helpful and informative. Have what may be a dumb question but I'd like to get your take on this before I pull the trigger. In the last three months I purchased an '09 Uly and a '09 Scg. They are IMO fantastic bikes. Very much enjoy riding both of them, the Scg more in town and the Uly out on the roadways. Got room in the garage for one more and was thinking about a 1125CR (with raised bars as I am 57 and carry a somewhat forward center of gravity). Also own an '07 SV650S but do not enjoy the ride very much now that the Buells have arrived. Only been riding for five months. Live in a college town in TX with about 50,000 population and some interesting country roads with slight hills and curves, weather is generally good. It looks like the last chance to get one of these bikes new. What do you folks think, would a 1125CR be a good fit or am I just getting too excited about riding and Buells in particular? Thank you.

Whistler -

Just my two cents' worth. I have a Scg and an 1125R. There is quite a difference. I am 6'-1" and about 200. I love the XB, but the fit is a bit tight for my longer frame. I think the 1125R fits and handles better. It's also a beast compared to the XB - lots more power (and speed). It's kinda like short and tall women - both are great, but in different ways. For the money, the 1125 is a great deal, especially if you can pick it up for around $8K. BTW - the 1125R is considered a performance bike and insurance goes up accordingly. The CR, however, is for some reason, not considered a performance bike and insurance is less. (Farmers is much more reasonable than Geico, Allstate or Progressive)

Thats a call that would be hard for a guy like me to make for you...I bought my CR last OCT and love it with the Clubmans and am waiting until I feel they are too cumbersome to switch over to my high bar kit. The bike rides great and with the premium seat (strongly reconmend it!) it is a pretty comfy ride. It certainly is fun too. Where in texas are you, I'm just south of OKC...maybe we could meet.

You would need to test ride it and see for yourself. Totally different animal vs the XB series. Personally, I find my CR with clubmans to be more comfortable than my XB and Uly.

I have a '99M2, bought a '09CR with the clubmans. It took 50 miles to determine that the clubmans suck for me. The riding style was very forward and more like a sport bike than a 'standard' or bent tube bar bike. The clubmans actually look further forward than the R model.

I put a Rizoma bar (like the high bar kit) on and like the riding position very much. It might even be more upright than my '99m2. This will be very comfortable riding positon, but will also be very much 'in the wind'.

Keep in mind that Froggy disappears when he turns sideways, and might go 85 lbs soaking wet *in* riding gear.

: )

The XB and 1125 platforms are TOTALLY different animals. I love my Uly...and will keep it next to my CR because it keeps me humble. As in, when I get on the CR I still have that constant "holy *&#$ this thing is fast" feeling : ) If I rode the CR and only the CR, it makes it so easy to go fast I'd lose sight of that "holy *&#$" factor pretty quickly.

I'm 6'1" 195, I have an 09 cr and love it. The clubman bars are now in a box on the shelf. The high bars are so much better. I ride 40 miles one way to work. Bike is comfortable and has all the power I could want. I put bar end mirrors on b/c the stock ones are less than wonderful. Have had a busa since 2001, I rode it 1 time since buying the Cr in October.

Thanks everybody. I appreciate your suggestions and comments. Bought an '09 1125cr with the high bars. Taking delivery Tuesday. Very excited, can't wait. Lots to learn!

petethekiller - I'm in Huntsville. Hope we can get together some time.

I must say that I actually like the position on the clubman bars - very comfy - am actually now adjusting the adjustable Jota/Laverda bars to that configuration on the Blast. The adjustable clip-ons though are already in a similar position.

Just got the new CR a couple of hours ago. What a beast. Going to have to keep a close eye on this one.

Whistler - enjoy the ride.
I did a year at Sam back in the 70s, you have some nice riding there.
We used to kid about getting moved down the street a few blocks if we screwed up..

Zack, man, you landed in a terrific place. I managed to get out of Sam in '75. These Buells are some of the most enjoyable things I have ever been part of. Be sure to give me a heads up if you ever get back to this neck of the woods.
