Well, I hated to do it but I listed my XB9R on E-Bay. Building a house and the extras are really starting to add up. Is $7600 a fair Buy-It-Now price? KBB said retail is $8635. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2416729748&categor y=6704 and yeah, I know I screwed up! I called it the original "Street-Fighter" instead of "Sport-Fighter"! It was late, I was tired!

Para... unless you have a race kit on there, or something else to spiff it up, I don't know if it will move at that price. I have seen some cycle trader adds listing XB's for a little below 8 off the showroom floor. Now as if they actually sell for that much, or if it is $7800 plus a non negiotiable $3000 "setup" fee, who knows. I would not put it past many of these Harley dealers. But either way, it might mess with your resale value, not much market precedent to know... |

Just noticed that you have the race kit installed... that makes it a very good deal. Besides, all those "$7800" deals I was seeing seem to have dried up on cycle trader, which means they never existed or were one shot deals only. Good luck! Somebody is going to get a deal two days from now...

GOD, PEOPLE SUCK! Had a guy look at the bike, said he definately wanted it. "Yeah, go ahead and cancel the auction, I'll be back at noon with the deposit". That was friday! I even went down to $7300 for the guy. Now I have a new problem. The sun is shining (finally!)and she is just sitting there in the garage, waiting for me. Do I really want to get rid of her? Whats another $5000 tacked onto the mortgage? Decisions...decisions. Think I'll ride it to work and think on it! Later |

Isn't it a beautiful day for a ride? Can't you hear the Road calling you? Your favorite curve is anxiously awaiting your arrival. (Do you REALLY want to sell your bike?) |

Roy...A lot of us have been there and done what you're contemplating and can tell you that if there is any way to avoid selling the XB, please try to do it...If you really enjoy riding you'll find a big hole in your life if you sell and the others around you will be better for you having the enjoyment of riding... See Ya! Bob |

Consider that your mortgage is probably a fixed 30 year note at 6.0%. The extra $5000 in P&I will turn out to be 29.98/mo... I vividly remember selling my only motorcycle, a 79 Sportster. I watched it roll away down the street, the last time I would hear those shorties snortin. I walked into the house, sat down, looked over at my helmet and jacket and panicked...my heart was racing, my stomach churning and my head was filled with all the memories of riding that bike everywhere and all the people I'd met along the way and all the friends I'd ridden with. My heart was broken, it was like losing a great companion. Really. Days later I had another Sportster in the driveway--68XLCH! A pre-AMF HD, kick start with a magneto, drum brakes, shift on the right primitve ironhead rolling steel thunder pig. Still have it. Probably always will unless the Marshall wants to stake a claim. Your home is a great investment and a necessity. Your XB is an investment in your self, your self discipline, your peace of mind and in frinedships past and future. And oh by the way, were it not for Buells, I'd likely never have met Racerboy, V2Win, Josh, DAve and a whole bunch of others. I'd have missed rides through forests and fields, passionate discussions around dinner tables deep in the Missouri foot hills...and so much more. Keep the XB. There is value that can't be measured in dollars. |

Paroyboy: There is a phenomenon called: Body language. You scared the seller to death, if he dared to come back with the deposit. First thing you will do after hearing the very last sounds starving away is going inside: Not to count your money but to think out, how to get as soon as possible, another bike. Been there, done that. Then you start living without two wheels. Easy enough: For three months, four months but then you will realize that you can buy, for the money you accepted, never the same used bike which is pampered by yourself. Maybe well enough maintained but you never know for sure if the bike has not been washed by an high pressure cleaner. Well, maybe you will start looking for a much less expensive bike: You can buy tube framers for very reasonable prices. Yeah: Maybe that is a win/win situation: Buying back a tube framed Buell, but I promise you: Within 5 months you will have another bike. Hans |

*sniff* *sniff* *pout* WAAAHHHHHHH! I guess I'm officially out of the Buell fold now. I went ahead and did the unthinkable. I sold my XB9R to pay for a deck roof! I'm sure I'll kick myself for the rest of the summer but at least I know I made a Buell salesman happy. Salesman I bought it from bought it back from me. Told him eventually I will be getting another. 2004 I hope. Till then...Thanks for the memories.... |

Actually, it was the deck roof, the larger patio, the extra windows, the extra phone and cable jacks, adding the cathedral ceiling after the roof trusses were ordered (not wise!)...the list goes on and on! And for what? So I have a place to park my bike. There's a sick irony here somewhere! |
