hi guys, i geuss i need some help from you. i'm form italy and i bought the pump gus ECM module for my bike. I’ve just finish to plug it on my CR1125 and gone for a quick ride .... wondering all the best.... unfortunately the bike reall}y runs so bad that i couldn't even thought... What I can tell you about the way it runs is that the engine cannot run over 4000 RPM. Once the engines reaches 4000 RPM , indifferently by the gear you are in, the bike starts to “rumble” and there is no way out. I can only change gear and than run under 4000 RPM. My bike is a my 2009 CR1125 with a K&N filter and a HPE race pipe. Clearly I use the bike in EU with EU gasoline. That’s not what I was expecting to have from the module. That’s really bad. what is going on? any ideas? thanks.} |

I assume when you swap back to the stock ECU the problem goes away? Someone smarter than me jump in here: Did you get one of the early ones that needs the BAS to be disconnected? If not does your bike have a sidestand cuttout and if so did you mention that to EBR when ordering? It's possible that you have a bad ECU or that you need to disconnect the BAS or that you have the sidestand safety cuttout that the new ECU may not "like" First place to ask the question is of the supplier though.. If its an EU ecu then your gonna need to disconnect the BAS, because the side-stand switch is functional on the EU models. Jake |

I would contact EBR and see what they say, it sounds like the quick shifter function. You may need to disconnect the BAS and/or the side stand safety switch. |

Thanks for the quick answers. i've already have some mail exchange with them before. i already emailed EBR for this i'm waiting for reply. i did not ask for any BAS configuration while ordering. i gave them my CR1125 config and they said "NO PROBLEMS" it will work. i hope not to have a faked unit... two questions: 1) how can i check if mine is one of the latest that need BAS disconnection? 2) how can i disconnect it? |

under the pod on the left forward and above the ECM location is a 3 wire plug. Unplug it. That should solve the trouble. |

guys thanks. i was looking for the BAS in the archive and found the post you suggest. thanks, @Easyrider: i did check temp, cause the first think i noticed while i started the bike was that the display did not show the warm up cycle. CT temp after some miles was about 76° celsius... i guess a little bit cold, but i was running the bike for a while... do you suggest that the RACE ECM need longer warm while the engine remain cold longer? this could be, but i've run it for more than 10 minutes... i can disconnect the BAS... i need just to find it in my bike. i've some mods on it... that's my left side of the bike... Outside inside guess where the BAS is now?? is under the ... somewhere there... i guess i discovered it, anyway... (Message edited by MorpheuZ on February 18, 2010) |

EBR (Mike) answered to me. "" Greetings Stefano, I am very sorry to hear of your troubles with the ECM. This is not good news to me. Yes, please try to unplug the BAS, and take it for a ride. Let me know if this makes the problem go completely away. If not please come back to me and I will see what we can do to resolve the problem. Best Regards, Michael "" I LIKE IT, that's what i call "Client Service Driven". |

Gents, thanks to a heads up from this forum I e:mailed EBR before ordering the pump fuel race ecm, which is awaiting delivery. Here in the UK at least we have the side stand cut out switch, therefore EBR are going to either disable the quickshifter function on my race ecm or advise if I have to disconnect the side stand switch. Hope this helps I found Michael at EBR to be most helpful (Message edited by Dirty_john on February 18, 2010) |

Shame the can't just shift it back to the BAS position it was on originally - I'd rather disconnect that than my sidestand switch... |

Why do you have to disconnect things to make a product work that is made by the guy that designed the bike? It reminds me of someones cousin Jed having to disconnect things from his car to make it run. |

i was thinking how the BAS is effecting ECM and the engine run. as i know so far BAS is designed to detect the position of the bike and cut the fuel pump if the bike lay on a side... so, why is it effecting when i ride straight? .... |

Because this is a RACE ECM, and in race applications, the BAS is usually disconnected.

On the race bikes, the BAS was replaced with a quick shift mechanism. When you go to shift, the bike will momentarily interfere with the engines operation to allow the shift. With the BAS attached, it is sending signals to the ECM, and the ECM is getting confused thinking you are trying to shift. I have read on here on some calibrations, they moved the quick shift function to the kick stand switch. Now, if you start to drive and the kick stand is up, the bike is going to think that you are trying to shift and do its thing. |

Hey Mike. It's a Race ECM never meant for street use. I posted about unplugging the BAS and EBR posted about unplugging the BAS and now I've posted again about the BAS so what's the problem? Racers would use that BAS input for the GP shifter. It's a topic that has been well covered here. Froggy types faster than me (Message edited by Mountainstorm on February 18, 2010) |

MIke--You have been trolling this section recently and most of your posts are pretty off the topic and make little sense anyway (ie, read your post above) What's the point? |

Ive been in this section/forum for 4 months now. Im just asking questions. I didnt understand why something had to be unplugged. It reminded of my buddies modded Mustang that he works on in his back yard. He had to unplug the IAC to make the car run right. |

It's a Race ECM never meant for street use. This is precisely what will eventually lead to indictments and companies being fined and/or shut down. If you're going to do things like this, it would be prudent to use a modicum of discretion when posting to the world. |

Even though it's a race ecm, you'd still need to know to unplug the BAS on your race only bike. I assume people still buy street bikes and make them race bikes. Redbuell, I bet you have a good bug-out plan in place, lol! I like a good conspiracy as much as the next person, but as I've said before, there are bigger fish to fry. |

Redbuelljunkie Posted on Thursday, February 18, 2010 - 06:09 pm: I think this has been mentioned before and like you I think this deserves mention again. If you knew that an off road product was being used on the street the fat map provider would be exposed to all kinds of risk....Not a good idea. dannybuell |

Its a race ecm never really meant for the street, in the USA their bikes dont have a sidestand switch to it makes sense to use the pins on the ECM for other functions like a quickshifter, the same for the BAS that is not used on a race bike, if you have to make a few mods to use the race ecm then suck it up and get on with it. Just be thankful that we can buy these items from EBR or you would have to pay a lot more cash to get the fuelling sorted for non-standard configurations. |

Morpheuz, The temp was oke, mmhhh I cant see other then bad programming of the ECM, it is possible that the mapping in your bike was for a different setup. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THIS IS CAUSED BY THE BAS. When you program the Race ECM, there is a menu you can use to fully adjust the GP shifter, or any shifter you like, and still keep the BAS connected. I sell programming for the Race ECM. so it is possible to deliver a race ECM with a good map. |

Mountainstorm is correct. Its a race ecu .Thats what its sold under .Thats what it is.So if erik said unplug the bas. Then unplug it.Its very important to read the instructions when you purchase products of this nature. It has been posted numerous times. |
