I've received several requests for engine case covers. Before I invest a substantial amount of time and potentially money, I would like to get an idea of what it is that the collective wants in terms of appearance and price. Please let this thread be a forum where those interested in this product can give me well thought out suggestions. Like the 1125 EcoSlider/Lift Spools, you are in the driver's seat here. Once again, thanks in advance. It will be interesting to see where this leads. I am interested. I think cost will be the big factor, I was looking at getting the Taylor Racing ones, but being made of carbon fiber they are expensive and cost almost as much as a new clutch cover. | ||

Are we talking billet aluminum pieces like the Yoshimura Suzuki case protectors? You could put some sweet "DHM" logos on those. I have no idea what the Yosh bits cost, but they look....  Better yet, your trademark "polish and black anodize" finish would be stunning. The Yosh bits are $195 for the pair. Cheaper than Woodcraft replacement covers or Taylormade's carbon pieces. You mean like the ones that Grandstand Designs currently sells? I just put mine on last weekend. Aluminum buttons. Very nice, but maybe not the same as case covers. Also, I have Flexiglass side panels that I have reinforced at the covers (about the same cost as Taylormades). | ||

just a thought; the additional mass of this item would have a negligble effect due to it's placement on the bike: basically at center of gravity.  i'm saying this cuz i have the powers stunt works cage and it's mass is definetly noticeable due to it's de-centralization of mass... and it also weighs like 50 lbs.  | ||

BTW Keith, I would buy your case covers too. With Pete's buttons, some case covers and my side panels I would be doing everything possible to prevent engine damage on my racer. Thank you for posting. | ||

I saw someone had homemade a case guard from an Al cooking pot. It was ugly but I liked the Idea. How hard would it be to press/mold/form a piece of Al as a clutch cover like the fancy 350+ carbon fiber jobbers. I believe it could be done cheaply, and I for one would be in for it. | ||

When I contacted Keith a few weeks ago about some DHM case savers, I was thinking that injection molded covers made from glass filled nylon would be a good option. But that would involve substantial upfront cost to Keith for the injection mold tooling. I really like the looks of the Yoshimura machined aluminum covers. I would totally be in for a set like that, especially if the price point was in the $200 range. | ||

I really think a major factor is cost. There are several really good units out there but the cost is through the roof. When one looks at the replacement cost of a clutch case vs a 300+ dollar cover. I think a lot are like me where I'll take my chances. However I have DH sliders front, rear and bar ends. Why, because the cost of repair was way over the cost of protection. Sure some will buy the high rent pieces but I think the manufacture has limited their market. | ||

as time goes on the parts needed to repair a damaged engine case will be harder to come by... already it seems needed parts are on permanent backorder like instrument clusters just get some kind of protection on there. for the moment anyway I have 2 1125's so I can always ride one if the other is down waiting on parts... I kind of looked at the sales like a buy 1 get 1 free instead of get one at half price  | ||

I would be interested. Especially for the left side. The stator side seems a little more vulnerable then the clutch cover side. |
