Looks like two of us are going to put on a couple sets of hard road tires and head east. Would be great to add riders along the way. |

w00t wife said I couldn't go unless I found a group already planning the ride... and I couldn't start the post. When do you plan on leaving Portland? |

Have not decided on tires (I am not a tire expert) - Joshua, I have not set a date for leaving yet - kinda depends on who is going and if I can have a little time to get off the slabs and on to a few back hiways (thinking Lolo Pass ID). |

I'll be on my red '09 XT leaving Colorado Springs early morning on the 14th, Staying in Rapid City, SD that night. Another early morning departure on the 15th and head for Dawson, MN for the night. Early morning of the 16th I'll be east bound and down! Frank Skinner may be with me from Colorado Springs on, but those plans aren't set in stone yet. Here's a ride plan: http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner /share/284868 If anyone wants to meet up along the way, just let me know. 402-253-4961 I've got a set of Stradas right now with less than 1500 miles on them. Depending on mileage between now and then, I might replace them with a set of Angels. |

OK, Looks like Borrowedbike and Thepod are in! From Portland to???? I'll probably do a set of conti roads for this, soft rubber is NOT what I'm looking for. Greg and I discussed a sag wagon today too. The three of us from P-town will be getting together next weekend to see what we can do. If anyone has a trailer/rig we can use post up. |

Sweet, if the trailer is small enough we may have a tow vehicle ready to go. If not we can grab a Uhaul for $15/day |

No trailer for bikes (we hope)- just gear, gas etc. One of our wives has volunteered to drive. Easier for two weeks for the non Uly's to not have to live out of a backpack. BTW how insulting! This is not a Harley Discussion. |

Agreed Borrowed... As to the trailer since my high side in '07 spending 2-3 days in the saddle each way may cause my back to do bad things to me. Started seeing a Chiropractor recently so we'll see what happens in the next little bit as far as me being able to ride the whole distance. |

Since June is going to arrive quickly the Portland group is going to try and get our route set in the next two weeks. As of right now here is what we are thinking: * we want to stay off major interstates as much as possible (until we hit the flat lands of the great plains) * we want to ride with as many Buells as we can - if we can alter a route to meet up with some other Buells we will. * we are planning on leaving Portland June 14th early and riding a great twisty route through Eastern Oregon on Day 1. * From there we are going to either ride a route to meet other Buells to the South or do Lolo Pass through Idaho on day 2 (90+_ miles of curves). * If any other riders that would be interested in meeting up (4-5 riders from the NW) we will look at altering our route to meet up. * We are a diverse small group that are inclusive of all paces (good thing because I am the guy at the back!) * We will have a support vehicle with spare tires, gas and gear. If anyone is interested either PM me or post on the NW thread. We are going to have a route planning "meeting" in about a week or so. Thanks! |
