Rode up to the Copperhead (about 5 miles west of Blairsville) yesterday. Place looks like a great spot for the event. Cell and wifi. Nice lodge with restaurant and bar.Michelle said we can store our alcohol in there cooler ( and we could order a keg and drink from their tap) Nice rooms in lodge with covered bike parking. Also little mini cabins available( trailers) if you don't want to be in the lodge. Lots of wide open space for tents. Fire area, pool . Lots of porch, deck area. |

From the Copperhead to a gas station with beer is a quick 5 mile highway ride to the county line. |

OK, I'm working on coming to this event. One of the biggest hurdles is the time off work since it's so far away. I went to the website for the resort and tried to book for that weekend and it says no availability for any type of rooms. So, worst case scenario, I guess I'm camping. Unless there's a promotional code I'm supposed to use to get rooms under the group block? Any help is appreciated. |

I'm in the same situation as Ghostrider and was considering NOT coming to April Buell but maybe hanging out at Deals Gap for the week instead. I was curious about what Ghostrider suggested so I just now phoned Cycle Resort to see if there was a block of rooms/cabins kept aside for us that I could not access on line. The only person there to talk to was the chef. He took my name and # so I wait for a return call from reservations. Again, If anyone knows about this accommodation arrangement please post up for us. Thanks (BTW - the chef said they were just inspected by the health dept. and earned a "100" rating... that's good news for us!) |

If any one thinks the tent camping area is to "foo-foo" for them, put your tent near the back of the group and we can all take a leak near your tent, that way you can feel at home!..... |

Ghostrider.... to access the block of rooms and cabins for our event, enter "ABD10" in the promo code window that pops up when you go on line to book your room dates |

CJ, I may end up taking the I 70 route depending on weather. Lynn is cool with me going. I have a conference at work that I need to find a way to get out of yet. Many variables and I think this is going to come down to a last minute deal but the planning is on. Is MB and/or Buelltoberfest not happening anymore? Frank

I don't know about either of those. I think I'm also going to be on a last minute deal. I'll keep you posted. |

MB was upgraded to April Buells in hope of better weather. Not exactly, especially since the people in charge of March Badness haven't given up, or weren't involved with April Buells Day. March Badness is still on, and always will be. We have no sponsors any longer, no demos to be had, but we have decided we can not let it just die. It's still held at the last weekend of March. It's still held at Two Wheels Only. The 3%ers will still be there. Since SMHD&Buell left us, we've changed the name to Not March Badness, this won't be our 7th, so this year it'll be Not March Badness 7 What hasn't changed...we are still unorganized, have no agenda, and we're in it for the fun, the riding, and partying. Everyone is welcome, although this year we decided not to advertise as heavily since a lot of us may not be able to make a full weekend of it.

That is the way an event should be disorganized. Too big and too much planning and set up takes the fun out of it. Mebby that is the coolness of March Badness, and the crappy weather played into making it what it is. Glitch..... |

The Dragon is set to be closed until July 31 at this point. They are not allowing people to ride from the NC side because of the Tenn state line crossing wherein the Tenn State Police cannot get in on their side to patrol the highway. Ambulance services seem to have worked out their coverage from the NC side. So it looks like logistics are keeping it closed aside from being blocked at one end. |

Well, found out the Dragon opened up today from 8am-8pm, looks like it is back in the riding round up for Thursday or Friday. |

I am getting ready for this trip! I can't wait! I will be heading out Friday am if all goes according to plan. If the weather is looking at least half way good, I will have at least four coming with me. Yee---haaa! Does anyone have on of those perpetual weather maps like March Badness used to have to put at the top of this thread??? |

Vern, Not sure about the maps, but weather is showing good riding weather for Thurs and Fri, but at 50-60% chance of rain on Sat and Sun. I will be watching closely, if all I am gonna get is 2 days of riding, I will just wait till Buelltoberfest. |
