Yea how that PC V works is an ingenius design.. i don;t see why it couldn't work, but O2's have to be disconnected then..

I think it just intercepts the o2 signals, like the techlusion did on the xbs. Otherwise the check engine light would always be on.

Justa4banger, The quickest thing to find out right now, is just disconnect the 02 sensor in the front and in the back and run the bike.

It is not a very clean method but the bike will run richer, and for that reason you will gain HP.

In this case you only disconnect the 2 connectors and run the bike without swapping the ECM. If EBR disabled the faultcode in the race ECM, it will not throw a code. It is possible to shut the faultcode off very easy in the race ECM.

Mike, you can't blame snow for no dyno results! if you can take a picture of the dyno sheet, then you can upload it to a free photo sharing site or send it to me and i'll post it for you. Stang 06 at windstream dot net.

Send me your map as well, i might just get the PCV instead of the race ecm.

Oh, be glad you didn't spend $15k on a ducati streetfighter. They are apparently much worse than the buells at low rpms.

OK. I didnt know it was as easy as taking a pic. I thought people scanned them or something. Im just waiting for the shop to be done and I will have results. I hope its today.

I can try to send you the map, but I have no idea how to do that.

I wouldnt buy a Ducati. After this bike, I will probably stay with strictly Jap bikes. Ive had good luck with them and they can may a bike that runs properly at low RPMs without having to modify it. They also dont leak gas when parked. My carbureted zx9r runs much better, hot or cold that my 1125r. The zx9r has never had the carbs adjusted, synched or touched in any other way.}

I haven't used my scanner in years. i just snap a pic with the digital camera. I don't know how to get the maps off the power commander, but I assume it's done using the software somehow. The maps on their site are just a binary file.

make a new post when you get the bike. I'm curious to see your low rpm results.

Easyrider,
I don't disagree with you.
I am/was only trying to help in this paritcular situation as to why J4B may have got some "off" results. I don't know what EBR does inside the ecm nor do I really care. Maybe it is a good tune maybe not.
I think there may just be a mis-communication or mis-interpretation here.
all of my statemnents regarding this topic were based on dyno testing this particular bike with 2 live ox sensors, one of which was not installed in the pipe. thats all...

J4b hope you get some better results, and happy to hear you've got communication going with ebr.

Cheers

Mike

YES the front O2 was out of the header but conected in the circut...the body was grounded to the chasis and the wire plugged in.

Easy i'm going to try that see what happens. for giggles i'm going to another dyno shop to run the ike. this is for me. i knw the number will be different but i just want to see if there is ANY CHANGE.

keep in mind the runs froggy posted are the stock exhaust runs..

Ok i have an appt at another dyno shop for 4 pm... going to run with O2 in the tail pipe and O2 sensors plugged in "WORKING".and then antoher time without o2's to see a difference.

Now the output numbers will be different being its a different dyno. but i just want to see CHANGE.

(Edit... I posted something, and I was right based on information I read later in another thread, and having it here serves no useful purpose other then making it look like I am piling on... so I deleted most of it).

It would be great to have a plot with a 4 gas analyzer. My local dirt bike shop has one of those instead of dyno, they found it more useful, which the more I thought about it makes sense.

08 and 09 MY have different mapping requirements - this is a well know FACT
looks like an 08 running on a 09 map

maybe they just forgot about that with the rush to market on these ecms....... Reminiscent to late 2007......

J4B
You did a great job documenting the different setups.Wow even the k&n was a loss. One thing we see here thats consistant is as the afr went lean you lost power. So 13.1 afr seems to be right on target for maximum power.I wonder how many other people got the ecms that wont dyno em Come to find out down the road they wasted 250.00.People could just put them in and say wee look at mee .Yay a race ecm. : )

Im still optimistic that there is a wrong ecm used here. But way lean indicates its way off. They said the stock exhaust will even work good with a k&n.

Hopefully you get this all figured out j4b.Like I said for 250.00 .Id buy one just to try it.im still optimistic.Im still amazed stock with a k&n lost power

Moosetang, the PC V intercepts and changes the injector pulsewidth, it also has a tach input, tps, and a few other things i believe.

I watched the tuner adjust a tune in about 20 min on a Yamaha cruiser with the PC V. its was trick to see how it works, and its on the fly.
the O2's need to be disconnected so that the ecm itself doesn't try to over correct and mess up the tune. So basically its in Open loop the whole time... if the tune os good enough then it should be fine and not affct fuel economy by much.

Cataract the above dynos froggy posted ar the the runs i made with stock exhaust. i didn;t bother with a combined run chart with the HMF.. it was so ugly. : D

J4b,

During your next dyno run, how bout you just do a HMF, K&N, and stock ecu, then just stick the race ecu in afterword....that's the cheapest and easiest test to do and everyone wins...just a thought...
oh yea and please keep us posted, with whatever you do and keep up the good work!!

The bike is ready. It only gained 7hp and about 10 lbs of torque. I told him a smooth running bike was more important than max power. Ill have to see the chart, but I think it ended up coming up just under 127whp and 75lbs of torque. A little weak from an engine that is 1125cc. It did gain almost 20whp at 9000 rpm and I think close to 10whp at 4k rpm. He thinks the Jardine is hurting it with lack of back pressure. Ill see how it is tomorrow. Going to throw the zx9r on the dyno just to see how it does.

On the 20th of Feb my 1125R will be getting the PC V, K&N and HMF pipe, I will let you know the results and post the baseline and after tuning runs. I originally bought the O h i o sportbike download but sold it to a friend that wanted it and bought the PC V. I think the PC is way to go. Very interesting thread, of course if the PC V is only delivering 127 hp or so then I would think I would like to see people's dyno runs that claim 150hp and the exact set ups they use.

Should be interesting.

Its possible that my bike could have been tuned for more HP. I specifically stated I wanted it to run as well as possible. The bike wont be a speed demon, so Im not worried about trying to make it much faster.

I believe the answer is no. If it did, I think it would be a no-brainer.

A PC V and custom tune will cost less than the programmable EBR race ecm without tuning. You give up timing adjustments for the ability to switch between two tunes, optional autotune and plug and play quickshifter capability.

Wrestling with the decision myself...

Ridenusa.... i did those dyno runs... its run file 20 and 13....

Loss of power with the race ECM....

Today i went to another dyno and did these to tests.... ONe is as the bike is right now, Race ECM, HMF and K&N with BOTH O2 sensors plugged in and the a/f sensor stuck in the tail pipe about 24"

the other run is the exact same except i did as buell told me to do and UN PLUGGED the sensors... Both runs were lean. for the first time i was getting a lean mis pretty bad at the snap of full throttle (tip in) and once again it was lean again at 8k rpm...

runs 1,2 are O2's plugged in and runs 3,4 are O2's not plugged in. still the same. MAYBE i just got a screwed up tune, i don;t know, all i do know is this current ECM is not right.

still lean

As for those who are interested in the PC V. It only controls the injectors nothing more (atleast on buells)
Keep in mind it works well i know of 2 people in Vegas with them on their bikes, but ONCE a great while they get a check engine light for the O2's.. with the PC V you must disconnect the O2 sensors. just keep this in mind..

Maybe i should stack the PC V on a Race ECM LOL

Justa4banger, Send the product back to ebr, when disconnecting the 02 sensors and still a lean mixture, I think the map inside is ment for something else then your setup. Ask them to reprogram it.

If it still is not working, ask then to give you the code that belongs to the ECM for reprogramming it on the dyno, send it to me and i do it for free for you.

Why should disabling O2 sensors make any difference in WOT? It's OL anyway and it's WOT, so not even OL enrichment (which would impact the CL region), but WOT enrichment is activated and AFV is applied too. Disabling O2 sensors on the dyno makes sense to prohibit AFV from wandering accidently, when the engine hits LCL during warmup. Alternatively AFV could be locked with some software, which is the recommended way. Locking AFV to different values will give you a first impression if and how a change in mixture will impact power. Humidity value as shown in previous runs seems questionable also.

I wondered the same thing, but it was suggested to me to try the dyno with and without the O2's

I have logged about 200 miles on the ecm and the afv are still at 100/100 no changes.

Easyrider thank you for your offer. i appreciate it, but i just got an email earlier this evening that EBR shipped another ECM to me for saturday delievery... I hope i get it, but i dont know since i have not yet gotten a email about the shipment.. sometimes UPS is slow though..

SO i should have a new ecm to try out tomorrow. man i hope i get it and i hope it fixes the issue.
This map is not what it is supposed to be..something is definitely screwy.

if i get this new map i should have dyno results monday afternoon, i'm sure SOTP will tell me alot... LOL Man my bike has alot of dyno time for not being a test bike LOL.

I'm asuming your talking to me Court

K&N is BU-1108
HMF is HB1125SAEC1
ECM is Y0152.08az

the PN for the ecm is the PN used before they had a Pump Gas tune available. i was assured i did not get the race gas tune.
