Marriedabuell: As far as I know it was the original. Just SOL. Time to regroup and flush the hell out of the cases while the heads are being looked over. Later Neil S. |

kcbill yeah, the head breather still pops into the air cleaner, but i haven't noticed signifigant blow- through. the problem mostly occurs when rolling on from lower rpm's. she only has about 10k mi on her. -pat |

Check out the piece in American Rider on Choptop's lady--Melissa.Great pic at Saltflats. CC,are you sure that module went first, that piston looks like it saw a ton of heat, maybe that same heat cooked module.I hope you are tearing this all the way down to check crank for damage, and look hard at oil pump. Pat,what plugs are you using, and have you checked timing? |

Pat, Are you running the 10R12 spark plugs? Check for intake leak? Sounds like excess carbon or an intake leak to me. Check for intake leak by spraying contact cleaner or WD-40 or such all around each of the three intake manifold seals with the engine running warmed up and at a fast idle (~2,000 rpm). If the engine speed drops, you've found an intake leak. Replace seals as required. |

Johnny, Good to see you again. Jason, Are you asking two separate questions or am I confused? Please repost in the Knowledge Vault - Bodywork topic. Please post answers there as well. Others may have the same question.

Jim, The participants in the BattleTrax series are supposed to be using 2004 Buells in LasVegas in early/mid-July. Might be the first "official" sightings, of something anyway. They might save any juicy stuff for August though. (I still think something's up at Buell for the H-D 100th, just a gut hunch feeling is all but something.) |

I'd like to get a new bike to share the stable with my S2. I like the Firebolt looks (and fairing). I like the 9S ergos. Something that combines those would be ideal for me. My good friend Timbo loves his 'Bolt. As well as another friend named Robert (he has a 'Bolt as well). Decisions, decisions... |

Someone over the weekend was talking about putting the 9S footpegs onto their 9R. Might help some. Then with the current discussions on the handlebars elsewhere on the site here and you just might be in business. 30-60 days might mean a lot, or it might just mean you lost out on 30-60 days of riding. |

Hi Mike, I saw the discussion about the Heli-bars for the 9R. The footpegs aren't an issue - for me it's back lean on my, ahem, aging back. Meanwhile I still have my S2 so there are no "lost" riding days. |

XB owners, Anyone other than I thought about drilling a 5/16" hole completely through the "axle removal nut tool" included with our XB took kits? At least the shock spanner tool fits it now for additional leverage if required. } |

Mike according to Buell & Harley all of the models for Buell & Harley will be unveiled in July except for a couple "special" Harley models which will be unveiled at the 100th. |

Paging Madame Brown, paging Madame Brown..... One of your nightmares is about to come true, Loki is invading florida once again! On that note(sour one at that), I get to give up a good five year relationship with my current employer. Seems I got told yesterday that I will be laid off on the 26th. The good news, already been offered a job with a new company in florida. |

just bought mopar combustion chamber cleaner from my jeep dealer...highly reccomended. i ran the whole can into my warm engine through the carb and now any and all pings of detonation are gone. lots of smoke though. i also changed the oil afterwards...it smelled faintly of the cleaner...great product for carbon on pistons...although i'll still tear down the heads this winter -pat |

Iron73, Welcome to BadWeB. What kind of riding are you looking to do and what is your expectation of miantenance and wrenching on your Buell? Do you want to be able to ride two up often, once in a while, rarely, never? If you are used to an old iron head sporty you should do fine with just about any Buell. Just pick the one that looks best to you. Call your local dealers, see if they have any demo bikes you can ride. Check out all the photos of BadWeBr's bikes in the Cool Pics section (lots of archives). I'm partial to the carbureted models cause I like a simple mecanical device versus a complex digital/electro-mechanical system depending on a bunch sensors. |

If you like lean and mean, go with a pre '99 model. If you want fat and cushy, go with a '99 or later. If you want razor sharp handling and the latest thing, go for the '03 models. |

I was going to post in the KV, but it seems the "Exhaust" topic is locked.. I installed a Frankenstein exhaust setup on my M2 over the past weekend. I have been running a Force Streetfighter for the last 2 seasons. Great pipe, but too restrictive for my not-quite-stock motor. But - I'm addicted to the way the lump sounds with a reverse-cone chamber on it (plus I had to run it to justify the purchase.. ). SO, I had been searching for a reverse cone to install with my race pipe. Particularly, a Rich Products Thunderheader muffler. They do not make a Buell application, so I knew I was going to have to cobble something up. My luck finally turned a few weeks ago - I picked one up at a local dealers' tent sale - for $10. It is a left-side muffler for a bagger. I modified it to fit behind the race header, and hung it with the bracket that originally mounted my first aftermarket muffler (V&H cf). Put the finishing touches and tightened everything up yesterday for a trial run. Fired it up - the note is a little tamer at idle than the Force - but not by much. Geared up and got going. It feels - and SOUNDS - like a different bike (again! ) THIS is the pipe my bike needs - it pulls MUCH better through the entire range instead of flat-spotting. And the sound - ohhhh yeah!! I've never heard another tuber with this exhaust note. Now to make it look like it belongs.. The muffler is chrome. It is going to get a quick coat of BBQ black. If it holds up well, I'll probably pull the whole system off after the riding season is over and send it off to Jet-Hot. I'll try and get some pics of it later on. The Force pipe is now available.. |

Jeff, Tag your report to one of the existing sub-threads in the exhaust section, or above Blake's comments and below the topics there is a start new topic button to click on to start your very own sub-topic thread. What you did sounds interesting, will be interesting to see the pics. What is the part number of the exhaust muffler you used? A local shop is having one of their sidewalk sales this month, I may have to go down there and see what I too can cobble up. |

I like the Firebolt looks (and fairing). I like the 9S ergos. Something that combines those would be ideal for me. Sam at www.ILharley.com, has done just that, the problem is that with the 9r's faring and the 9S bars the master cylinder hits the faring before full lock on the bars, everything else is interchangable, but the cables are bike or bike part specific, IE, if you use 9S bars you need the longer cables, 9R are shorter, pegs uper triple and other assocaited parts all fit fine and work, outside of the master cylinder(he was looking into a smaller on to clear the windscreen), he wanted origanlly to make a bolt to order that a dealer could do, want lower fot pegs, no problem, clip ons on a 9S, great, sounded good, but we havent talked much about it latley Roger |

What's the simpleton way to know if I'm running rich? What's the simpleton way to correct it? The bike is an 01 M2 with the Factory Race Kit and 42mm Flatside carb. It just seems to me that after the 42mm was put on (by a trust worthy wrench, IMHP) that the bike is getting too much gas. Thanks |
