I don't think you have to on the newer versions. I guess you could ride it and if the motor cuts out intermittently, you have the answer. |

Todd, just got this e-mail from Mike at EBR in response to my order status and that same question. He replied: Bob, The BAS can remain plugged in. The eshift functionality was moved to the side stand switch wires. North American bikes don’t have the switch but the harness leads are there. Thanks, Michael |

Just a thought here, but many years ago we used to wire a set of contact points on our handle bars of our dirt bikes to ground the coil if you pulled out a tether attached to your wrist whenever you fell. Hill climbing.....quite often. Maybe, if you wanted something like that you could utilize the BAS to do the same thing except it would do it through the ECM as the side stand switch would do. Of course only if you departed the bike without wanting to as in a fall. I have one on my bass boat from the factory. Bob |

This is what they told me last week : Hello Ken, Not with the Y0152.10AZ ECM. We moved the eshift sensor functionality from the BAS wires to the side stand switch wires. On our hardcore race bikes, with our race harness we don’t run with BAS, thus those were open pins for the Y0152.08AZ race ECM. We discovered track day and club racers mostly use the stock harness and prefer to leave the BAS functional , so we made the change on the latest release pump gas race ECM. Thanks, Michael |

Your race ecm, is it the preprogrammed pump gas version, or is it the programmable one with the software and tether? does anyone know if the preprogrammed one will change throttle response and account for aftermarket exhaust and intake??? thanks, -Nivek |
