2/15/10: The clutch saga continues..bike has been in shop for 3 weeks now. Supposedly fixed, dealer took a 20 mile ride, clutch continued to "go away". Dealer now has the "main tech rep" and they traced it down to a "hole" not being drilled in the cluth diaphram vacuum assembly, now waiting on parts again. This is hard to believe from Rotax on a 730 mile babied bike!!! I hope I can again gain confidence in the bike wondering if the clutch goes out while I am in the mountains taking a little 200 or 300 mile trip. Love the machine, but I have to have confidence in it, dont want to have to worry all the time I might not get back!!! We will see. (1ST Message)Had the clutch "weep" problem, dealer installed the fix kit, clutch OK. A week later clutch lever is floppy, I mean no clutch. I bled the system, no bubbles, trailered back to dealer. Dealer "adjusted", drove 10 miles turned bike off. When I started up (neutral), I engaged clutch...nothing. Back to dealer, thought master cylinder was cracked. Dealer installed new master but says had to order a second clutch piston kit, still waiting. I have about 730 miles on this bike, anyone else having these clutch problems. Appreciate any help.} (Message edited by frogbuster on February 15, 2010) |

I have had nothing like that. The clutch on these bikes feel very fragile to me... like I'm gonna smoke it or something. Guess I'm used to dirt bike clutches. They just feel more positive when they engage. |

Mine leaks too it's very aggravating . I'm thinking of getting it fixed again. As far as the clutch holding up. I've got 18k on mine . It's seen alot of dragstrip runs . Matter of fact I've been wondering how much more time is left lol. My buddys r1 burns clutches all the time. He's been through multiple sets in 19 months. |

What about the possibility that they botched the clutch weep fix, and they are covering it up by redoing it and the MC? |

i met a guy who had a 1125cr and only had about 1000 miles on his, and he said his clutch was comply out. He also is the type of person who raggs his bikes out also. but I rode my xb12r very hard and no problems at all after 20,000 miles on it. i also keeped it serviced verrry well. maybe its just something that should have been taken care of in service. only problem iv ever had on any of my buells was the clutch cable needing re-tuning every once in awhile. If some how the clutch cable came outta tune, and drove it enough it could wear out the clutch? that questions always been in the back of my head. i always checked the tune of the cable every 5,000 miles. seemed to help. |

If the bike had a clutch cable and if it was not adjusted correctly then it could either cause the clutch to drag or slip.. The 1125s don't have clutch cables though - so there's nothing to adjust (which is a shame as I'd like mine to engage sooner) |

550 miles and they just upgraded my clutch cover and all the internals to the slipper. The warranty bill was 998.00 I paid nothing |

Frogbuster... I had similar issues with my clutch as well but mine had 8k on it and my clutch plates were glazed due to improper maintenance while bike was demo for Buell regional director. Have them check the plates because my lever did exactly what yours is doing but I seriously doubt thats your issue with less than 1k on your bike. |
