The programmable ecm comes with the same map as the race ecm, the race pipe/filter map? Is that what you're saying? |

Bads1 i think you wasted your breath on this one. I think you are right though. My buddy had a 12 w/ a drummer and a K&N and it seems to run just fine. |

If you would have bought the Factory race ecm for around $200 the cable is about $30 ecmspy is free and you can program the factory computer, or if your a real gear/petrol head you could've bought a microsquirt (diyautotune.com) with a wideband o2 sensor for around $425 and still been ahead. |

Boney I have an 08 with A Drummer and nothing else modified. Works great. Is there decel popping? Yes just like before, doesn't bother me. If I were you I'd run theses questions by Kevin Drum as he knows best I would think and has always been good about answering my questions. But the 08 has an ecm that self adjusts. |

XB12scg, well my thinking with the race ecm is that the bike will run a bit richer, which is what I want. Even with the 08 stock ecm, she's still running a bit on the lean side. I have read on here that the race ecm works well with the Drummer. Many people run them together on their -07's with good results. |

Oh also on a side note, if you just want to create a richer fuel curve you could get a techlusion box for buell around 200 to 240 plug and play, it was great before I had the plug, learns well and easy to install. |

This afternoon I installed my new RACE ECM on my 08xb12s with K&N AF & Drummer Exhaust. I did the TPS reset and took it for a spin. After a 20-min cruise at 3500rpm (to learn), i let myself crack into the throttle in 1st and 2nd gear to feel the difference vs the stock ECM that i've gotten used to. My first impressions are the bike runs MUCH smoother thru the entire torque curve, eliminating ALL major & minor dips & surges that i used to have with the stock ECM. I also noticed the bike pulls harder and is noticeably quicker. Decel-popping reduced to almost nothing, it used to pop from 4k all the way down to idle. ErikBuellRacing was extremely easy to work with and quickly answered my initial questions on the ECM. I'd consider this a VERY well spent $250 |

I also instaled mine today. Did the TPS reset and fired right up. Bike runs and sounds much better, although I did not ride it. To much snow. Krueger08xb12s, my check engine light comes on like it is supossed to at key on, then it will come back on for a few seconds then go way for good. Did yours do that? |

Arctic, sorry but i didn't notice that but then again i wasn't looking for it either. I'd say you're ok so long as the light goes off. When u get a chance to ride it, let me know (pm or thread) if u notice the fan running on odd cycles- mine comes on while riding and shuts off when coming to a stop and doesn't run at all after shut off like it used to. It may be the way these race ecm's are programmed, but it seems backwards to me. |

The light staying on for a few seconds means there is a historic code stored. You can clear it out with ECMspy. It is normal for that to happen after a ECM reflash, in fact it is in the instructions for the dealers when updating ECM's. As for the fan operation, thats how all the 2010 XB calibrations work. It is designed to reduce the fan run time when it is most noticeable, at low speeds and stopped. |

Froggy, thanks 4 the update on my fan. I thought the whole point of the fan was to move air thru the rear jug when the bike couldn't get air thru the scoop- now that they made this update, i don't know what to think?? Doesn't seem that the fan would do much when the bike's already getting 50Mph air anyways. But then again i'm only a construction engineer, not a mech engineer! Thanks |

When the fan isn't moving, it is stalling the airflow, so it will run when you are over 15mph. Do yourself a favor and get one of the 2010 right side scoops as it will help with the rear cylinder cooling. |

Froggy, is that 2010 scoop a simple bolt on, and would it cause the stock ECM programming on an '09 to be off in any meaningful way (e.g. if the cyl isn't running as hot as it was assumed to be for the original mapping)? |

Do a search on here, plenty of threads with pictures of the two scoops and part numbers. The original fan programming is fine. |

Krueger08xb12s, That new fan program will turn out to be you favorite part of the ECM. It made my bike much more ridable in traffic, during hot weather. Thanks for the update on the race ECM. I'm considering going this route also. |

Side note after I hit about 4k on the tach it feels like a turbo kicked in, great torq up from 4k pulls like a freight train up to redline, makes me wish for a 6th gear. Also the Diablo Corsa III's (pirelli and Metzger same company) make a WORLD of difference, Anyone else experience the same(tire and ecm wise)? |

Conscious, from reading your earlier posts, didn't look like you were a big fan on getting the race ecm... What mods have you done to your bike? |

Regarding the 2010 fan programming, does anyone know if it will turn on at idle stuck in traffic if it gets hot enough? |

@ Boney95 I just wanted you guys to know your options and not blow 450+ on a power commander to just to add some fuel(unless you really need the wideband o2 sensor). The race ecm is a great buy for 250.(get the wire and ecm spy and you have a tunable system) If you have the stock brain I've seen techlusion work good (but price-wise race head is better). I have the race set up from the dealer (brain, filter, exhaust) I had the pipes coated at American Sportbike, then wrapped them because of the heat. I have CF bodywork just have to get the chain guards and the timing cover to be complete. I have the integrated LED lights on my mirrors, and LED taillight with led signals HID head lights, worth it trust me. And Diablo IIIs they do make a world of difference. LSL pegs and protectors. Also a HUD from Sportvue. I've heard other exhausts, too loud for me, seen the dyno for the drummers and such, not too convinced. personal taste really. If you plan your mods then your won't waste too much money, and won't have your treasurer (partner) too upset. You want your bike to be fast AND reliable, and most people just get over their heads and budget, then they are stuck with an unreliable bike with worst performance than they started with. |

I finally got to ride with the new ECM installed. What a difference, smooth and steady and little decel popping. It was about 30 degrees so I did not have the fan come on to check that out. I have had the Daytona Twintec and the Remus on my bike. Both times it went on the dyno and both worked OK. But without a doubt the ECM is well worth the money. I am trying to find time to get it on the dyno but with the weather it has been difficult. It runs so well that I am not in as big of a hurry, but it will be done. |

Hey all: So if I understand what everyone is saying , you can tune a "race ecm" with Ecm Spy? Also, does the Race ecm shoot for the same A/F ratio in the closed loop area as the stock ecm, or does it go for a more performance bias in that area? |
