Folks: Just got my 010 wheel from Al. Do I need to smear anti-sieze all over the new black axle like the original? I will continue to use some I think on the flats on the axle. |

You will need too,as the new axles are a tighter fit in the swinging arm. |

I think the black anodizing would protect it anyway, but a little grease or anti-seize can't hurt. +1 to what Ullygan_uk said. My axle made a sound like twisting a green wooden peg in a hole as I was screwing it in. It actually lightly scratched the coating on the sprocket end of the axle as I screwed it in. I guess there was a slightly raised point at the "cut" in the swingarm hole. It never affected the original axle but the 010 axle must have been slightly tighter; hence the problem. I was pretty pissed, but the scratch is so light you can't detect it with your fingernail. The outer dust seal rides right on top of it; no problem with seal wear that I can see in a couple of thousand miles. I'd suggest that you de-bur the axle hole on the sprocket side with some fine emery cloth or similar before you install your shiny new axle to avoid a situation like mine. |

Yes I also heard that sound.I didn't feel any burring when I cleaned and lubed the swinger prior to fitting.Think it has more to do with the extra diameter the coating gives the axle ? |
