I had read in a prior post that Buell racing was going to offer the race muffler for sale.Does anybody have any idea when they will be offered, and the cost for the race pipe? I will make my own from a Flow-Master auto muffler if they will not be available soon.I have a 2007 XB9 Firebolt(who would want a 12 anyway!)and want to maintain enough back-pressure as not to loose any torque. Thanks,Brian |

I see the 1125 race exhaust sys. is out already - $1,700 IIRC. Which model FlowMaster do you plan on using? . |

Last I heard, they were going to be offering exhausts for the XB's in April. If you choose to make yours from a flowmaster, would be really interested in getting some sound clips and pics |

BUELL XB EXHAUST CAN BY EDELBROCK, RPM SERIES TRU-FLO. LATUS USED THIS CAN FOR MAKING THEIR EXHAUST . The hardest part will be the chin-fairing mounting and the spacer to fit between the stock curved mounts and the flat top-side of the muffler. If it works out,I will post parts sources and drawings as to how it was done, along with the fuel map software package that ends up working the best with the 9R engine and our local(Mukwonago Wisconsin)reformulated gas. I have used Magnaflow XL3 mufflers on my cars with great success. They also offer a short and a long version. They are SS and the shape will work better than the Edelbrock. I have also made silencers for them that cut the noise more than 25dB. http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web /2458000-2458999/2458244_157_full.jpg |

hey brian-- try http://www.hanksvillehotrods.com/ dont hack up the jardine--call henry and get a 90 degree elbow to fit your pipe and use a 3 inch clamp instead of the oem skinny one. i bought my elbow and muffler from him.all mandrel bent and lots of muffler choices. scott |

oh more to add-- make sure it is securely mounted. make sure you dont have any tension on it as it is welded and bolted back down. mine did not have any bracketry from the oem can,so i kept the jardine bracket and mounted my muffler to the 2 large bolts underneath.i currently run without the chin fairing,do make sure you inspect often your new muffler--if it breaks loose you are in for a trip to the hospital.keep an eye on it and make sure you weld it right. my muffler also is center exit and offset to the left at the front.it aligned perfectly and all i had to do was trim the elbow down to fit. and made my own mounts and welded those to the muffler then bolted to the bottom of the engine. |

I used to have an XB9 2003 with the Latus - it sounded great! In fact, if Latus were still in the business of making exhausts, that would be exactly what I would be getting for my XB12Ss |

I have only used these on my cars, I do like the way they sound but there is also another alternative- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-TOYOTA-HONDA-NI SSAN-MAZDA-T304-DUAL-MUFFLER-EXHAUST_W0QQitemZ1303 64386653QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_ Accessories?hash=item1e5a52ad5d These sound just like a jardine but fit the factory muffler brackets perfectly. For my link try this one: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/2/4833/ 4881/24582440157_large.jpg |

For the ebay fartcans you can do any imaginary stuff to the tips and point them away from the tire |

Aren't the car mufflers heavy? I'd rather not add any weight. |

I hope if Buell Racing offers an exhaust system for our bikes that its cheaper than what they want for the 1125s system. http://www.ebracing.com/shop/product41.html |

$1,800 isn't bad at all. My buddy paid 3K for his full Arapovik exhaust on his RC8. |

Yes, being a slip on it will be cheaper, my guess is about $350. The 1125 system is a full system with a lot of pipe. They may be coming out with a slip on for the 1125's eventually too. |

I actually bought one of these fartcans, it fits nice under the bike, I just moved to FL and don't have my welding setup here to make it work and use it. It wasn't heavy at all, compared to the stock one. It is really cheap too, worth a try |

Which muffler is that, Pogue_mahone? I've been researching different mufflers and found this FlowMaster 9424472 - Flowmaster Super 44 Series Muffler. It has a smallish 13" case & 19" overall (2.25"Inlet X 2.25"Outlets) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-9424472/

Mine is very similar to Pogue's. I used the magnaflow 11148 and the jardine elbow and fairing brackets. I have since fixed the tips to angle outward. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/444916.html |

I was on the phone yesterday with EBR. The new race pipe for the XB's from what I understand is going to be very close to the original, thats what the ECM was designed with. It may be out before April but no promises, also it is only going to be a slip on like the last one. |

If Buell offers the XB race muffler I'll be the first to buy one. Someone said it would be available in April. Where did that info come from?? |

I found A GREAT stainless-steel can that is the perfect size and shape,it also has 2 stainless angled tips.I would just need to make chin-faring brackets and the front J-Pipe.If I get it hot-coated when all the welding is done it should look good and last.I still will, buy the EBR muffler when it comes out if the price is fair(under $300)although looking at the web-site and the way the "AUCTION".. was held, they will probably be twice that price. If anyone wants a link to the muffler I found,I can P.M it to you,Brian |
