Gents: I have a 2010 Yellow Uly since last October. I Love it, but it's just TOO quiet for me. I'm looking to alter it. Seems that Special Opps is the best way to go to keep everything in place yet get a bit more throat to it. Just wanted to check in with everyone first for other options and or mufflers before I send off the muffler to be mod. Thanks for the feedback! D- |

Check out this thread currently in the XBoard: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/532468.html?1264515368 And check out the exhaust shootout on American Sport Bike. After you look over those, go ahead and send your pipe to Special Ops. You'll love it! |

I'm waiting on the EBR XB can (Buell race can) to come back in the next few months. Not a joke. It will make a fine replacement for my oem rust bucket. (Message edited by barker on January 26, 2010) |

Question regarding single vs. dual muffler outlets. Does a right side pipe, exiting toward the drive belt, shorten the life of the belt or weaken it? Is anybody aware of other posts on this, or have any first-hand experience? |

I had a Buell race pipe but didn't like the excessive popping on deceleration. I'd go with a Drummer as my second choice. Of course I'm riding an 06 with a race ECM so it may be different for you. I ended up wiring open my stock pipe. Louder than stock, but not annoying. no deceleration pops either. my bikes been running really great. Knock on wood. |

I did as Orangeulius, with same results. Lead pinch sinker on cable in air box. I used 2 just to be sure. |

Paul,I wish I would have thought about the lead sinker idea. I performed a radical cableectomy. |

x2 on the cableectomy, when that was through i installed a Jardine muffler and the sound is better. its still not as loud as a loud Harley, but (to me) sounds hands down better than stock. |

Mark-It was a simultanious insight. When this was all the rage on this board a year or two ago, someone else came up with the same idea that I did at the same time. I just put in my new K&N filter and checked the sinkers and they are still holding well. bike has run great since I did that, louder, and I think smoother off idle than before. Some folks reported that they felt that they had lost a little power in the lower range, but I have not noticed it. I will also add that I did the same to my Wifes' Scg and boy did her bike sound great. the muffler is a littel different on the Scg and supposedly will not clear the side stand on the Uly or one night I probably would have swapped out our mufflers. Hers sounded so good. As a result of this littel easy to do and simple to reverse procudre I am no longer interested in purchasing a different muffler. I did not need to do a TPS reset either, but for the first year of owning the bikes I did do a TPS and also AVG (sp) reset when the weather changed dramatically. I have not needed to do it for the past year or so. Very happy with bike, sound performance etc. |

I'll make a suggestion, and please don't dismiss it,this guy is in Australia, and will custom build,I know you guys have great builders over there too!,but I just put 1 on my 07,in full stainless with no visible weld marks fully polished, for $1200AUD,our dollar is dipping to your greenback at the moment and you may pick up some specials, these fit like a glove and no mods required. http://www.foranexhausts.com.au/ Phil a bloody happy customer. NB,these are about the sound of Odie's spec ops,and not as loud or hard as the Jardine. |

Did a search, found lots of rusty muffler threads but no thread specific to this lead sinker valve opening system you speak of. Can someone direct me to a thread that describes this procedure? Thanks |

Paralegal-Jst remove the plastic body work over the air box. Look fo rthe silver cresent shaed pulley with cabl ein it. Pull cable, hold w/vice grips, squeeze a small lead sinker or two on cable. Let go of cable and see all the slack. That is all I did.Has worked very well for last 3 or 4 years. |

Any modification to your bike has the potential to make it difficult to get warranty work done. Obviously a muffler isn't going to cause an issue if a headlight bulb burns out, but if you run into a running issue they may blame the pipe, despite you putting 50k miles on since the installation. All mufflers need tuning to run at its best. The bikes run very lean from the factory, and changing the exhaust and intake system doesn't help. |
