I don't do a burnout.... not necessary for street tires. |

actually, a burnout is necessary for a launch in the 1.70's and quicker or there's a good chance of spinning. on a cold track, a burnout would be considered mandatory for almost any launch. maybe not a prostock smoke show but a couple of seconds in first gear to clean off any debris and get some heat in the rubber. |

I've ran 11.3 at 124mph in the quarter, 1125R. |

A couple of dry launches before you stage is sufficient with a stock wheel base and a street compound tire, did it for 4 years with 1.60 - 1.70 60' times on a 2001 929RR (front strapped, lowered 1 1/2" in the rear, and a D&D slip-on), and I am not that good off the line. Learn the clutch not the throttle, on and off the throttle will cause more front end lift and traction lose. |

All a street tire needs is a couple of dry hops to clean it off....a burnout will just get it balled up...and don't go anywhere near the water....the exception to the no burnout rule is the shinko 003 and/or Mickey Thompson MCR. |

Hats off to anyone that can go fast on a short wheelbase bike...it is the hardest kind of drag bike it ride because of the wheelbase....the best thing would be to go to a school like the one Rickey Gadson runs....he is one of the absolute masters of no-bar racing....maybe the best ever...it would be money well spent. It's all about setup, weight distribution and clutch managment. I'm still waiting to see who will put on a slick and some properly set up bars....and maybe just a touch of nitrous to get it rolling....trimming time off at the start is the easiest and best place to do it. |

Littlebutquick runs 9's with an R, stock wheelbase and motor. Mr Buell replied to an email I sent, and stated that a wheelie/launch control system IS in the future at EBR, and that should be really helpful to all of us aspiring dragracers I personally only have approx. 25 passes last fall(first EVER m/c runs), and improved from low 12's TO 10.90's. Ran no strap, and street tire pressure. In the spring I will be strapping, pulling preload out of the rear and lowering tire pressure a bit at a time. still in the mid 2'S with my 60'S.Launching is a beotch! Like someone posted earlier, seat time is the best tool available. Those of ya's thinking about heading to your local strip,BE WARNED : after your first 60 feet of your first ever launch-running your bike down the 1320 is as addictive as CRACK! |
