Char, what part of WI are you in? I'm not Char but, if memory serves, she's in the Madison area. Madison proper is about an hour or so West of Milwaukee on I-94. 1313 |

It would be awesome to ride all year (except mebbe in hurricane season) Char would be glad to see you added to the ranks of C3. Hurricane season is the best season to ride. Usually not too hot and just have to find a good bar to hold out until the storms pass. Speaking of riding year round, it was a bit tough last weekend but seems tomorrow is the day to blow the cobb webs off the bikes. Looks like 60°F and clear tomorrow, anyone riding? |

Cloudy and cool today. I did manage to get a new front tire mounted, inspected and new tags a couple of days ago. Also had a nice spirited ride by myself. Was laid off last week waiting for display boards from China. Had to do something. Gonna need new pads, front and rear before summer. 1313, today I finally found and met up with my long lost friend/co-worker, and convicted felon. It's been around 15 years, but it was a really great visit. He even let me drive his 1978 Indy pace car Corvette around. 24,000 original miles on the clock. Nice damn car, but not my cup of tea. My little xb will blow it off the road. |

I know its been a while but I finally rode the 12s to work today. Its going to be too great of a day to waste it in a car. I didn't even have to jump off the battery! |

For those of you looking for some track time this season, I got this in my email today:
quote:NESBA KICKS OFF 2010 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE In 2010, NESBA is again offering the greatest perks for the greatest members! Sign up or renew your membership before Febuary 15th and receive a $25 credit! During the off season I often check into the forums and am always surprised at how NESBA members continue to frequent the NESBA talk forum and communicate with Friends, CR’s and Directors. It is awesome to see that friendships that have been made at the track use the forums to stay in contact with each other year after year despite going months without seeing each other. This club not only has a special place in my heart but I can see that it also has a special place in many of your hearts also. I want all of you to know that I appreciate your support of the club and I would like to give the “die hards” a late Christmas gift. I’m sure many of you have already renewed your membership for 2010 already, so if you purchased a membership AFTER January 1st , I will be including you in the member drive and depositing a $25 credit into your account. Thank you again for your continued support. The membership fee may be reduced….but you still get a great value!! FREE Expert Instruction - Only the best, most qualified riders are selected to become NESBA Control Riders. They provide FREE, expert, one-on-one instruction to members who want it. FREE Crash/Mechanical Insurance - NESBA knows that you sign up for a track day to ride, not to crash or break down. Be assured that if you crash or break down, you get a percentage credit of your track day fee. FREE Rain Insurance - If an event is canceled due to rain and no one got to ride, you get 100% credit, even if you didn't show up. FREE Tire Program - NESBA knows the biggest expense of track riding is tires. Members who do 15 events/year are rewarded with a free set of sponsor tires. Member Discount (Elite membership) - Members attending more than 12 events in the previous year will never have to pay a late fee or cancellation fee when signing up for events this year. Multi-Day Discounts - Ride more, save more! Sign up for the first day of a multi-day event and get each subsequent day at $10 off the regular price. FREE Track Day Rewards - NESBA's member rewards program is unlike any other. For every dollar you spend with NESBA, you earn points that can be redeemed for track days and memberships. FREE Trial Sessions - NESBA knows that riding on the track can be an intimidating endeavor, so we allow you to try it for FREE. If you don't like it, it doesn't cost you a thing! FREE Beginners' Orientation - We know some people are unfamiliar with the track environment, so at each event we offer a FREE 40-minute seminar that tells you what you need to know when you're out on the track. Seven Day Cancellation - You can cancel up to seven days prior to an event and get your money back minus a small, $5 processing fee. FREE Gate Entrance - NESBA never charges you, your family or friends a gate fee. When tracks require a gate fee, NESBA picks up the cost. FREE Tire Seminar - At select events, we will hold seminars about tires and how they work. FREE Suspension Seminar - At select events, we will be coordinating with Penske Shocks to educate members about suspension technology. Prime Riding Times - Most of our track days are held on weekends - prime, high-demand times. Sponsor and Dealer Savings - Other benefits include special tire, lap timer and bodywork pricing, discounted trailers, and a dealer network that offers significant savings on parts and accessories. Trackside Support - tire service is available at most NESBA events. We also have a healthy selection of hard parts available for purchase at events - so mechanical failure doesn't ruin your day.

I went out started, well tried to start it, this morning before leaving for school. The fuel pump did not wind up like it usualy does. But the motor turned over with no unusual noises, so I'm thinking either the fuse blew or the pump went. That particular stretch of road is usually deserted and I figured it would be a great place to 'play' a little. Its out in the boondocks at the corner of 3 different counties. As you can see on the vid, everyone and there grandmother drove out there that day! well there is still some more tire left, if I can figure out what is wrong there will be more vids. Spike are you a member of NESBA. I know you go to quite a few track days. Was the membership worth it to you for what you received from them? 1313-that is a nice flyscreen isn't it? lol The little ole lady in the first car had the "well I never" look on her face as she slowly rode past! |

Unfortunately I only have 3 track days under my belt. I did two with NESBA and one with Private Track Time for the Buell Inside Pass event. I haven't been a NESBA member since 2007. PTT is the only other track day organization I can make direct comparison with, but NESBA struck me as much more professional and organized, not to mention faster. When I did the Buell track day I was in the intermediate group and I seemed to be towards the front of the group. If I were to run the same pace in NESBA intermediate I know I'd be towards the back of the pack. If I were able to start doing track days again I'd join NESBA. |

Check engine light, ever since I put the race ECM in with the race kit I could tell every now and then it would get stuck in "open LOOP" above 4500 then back down. The motor still turns over fine but the fuel pump is not whining like it usually does when I turn the key on. The fuses are all good, so next step is wiring. No biggie I've been working on the Z making it a bit faster so all in good time! |

If anyone is interested- Capitol BMW in Raleigh has an S1000RR. They said they need to put more miles on it before they can turn it over to customers as a demo bike, but they seemed happy to show it off in the mean time. |

Yep, and lots of it! Might as well make the best of it. I hope the sandhill boys see more snow than ice. Losing your power is plain miserable. It just started to snow in G'boro. For me, spring can't get here soon enough. |

Absolutely dry here now, not even the rain they said would turn into snow. The funny thing is they were saying by now we'd have about an inch of snow and a little over 2 by the morning. Hmmm, meteorologists - just wannabee doctors that couldn't cut med school... Capitol BMW in Raleigh has an S1000RR If there were ever an IL4 that I would consider the S1000RR would be it. I can only imagine what it would be like to open it up on the Autobahns in Deutschland. I think I just set a goal for a future trip... 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on January 29, 2010) |

We have 4-5" of very dry snow on the deck and in the yard, but in the street it's packed down to ~2" thick and feeling pretty solid. Tomorrow and Monday could be very bad days for travel. |

Just sleet/freezing rain here... Boy, do I love the hysteria on the local news. OMG, snow! We're gonna die! Maybe I should dig out some pictures from when I was home for Christmas. I-43 heading South (West) just past the Alpine Valley exit:
I-43 a little further South (West):
Buell Factory the same day (26th):
However it wasn't always that bad, here's Buell on the 29th:
But it doesn't stay that way, Buell on the 30th:
How long until Spring? 1313 |
