No, not any 350 Honda engine will do. The C310 is a 100cc pushrod engine. Made in Holland of all places.

The Motom Superelle has a 50cc pushrod motor.

You guys are missing the point. All that crap about how it *could* be done with this bike or that bike cheaper or more expensive is just hypothetical bs. It ain't worth the electrons it's written with. They don't give records for what you could do. You have to actually go do it. When you actually go do it, come back and talk to me about what it costed then. It always looks easy until you actually go do it.

It's a funny old world, last thursday night I rang Court to make certain The Elves Salt event was on because the lack of talk about land speed attempts was noticable by it's abcence. I go away for a couple of day's and Monday mornning it takes an hour at work to catch up on the posting's.

Snail you got the seafood, I like cooking you like eating we are made for each other just do it.
We can talk Gixer's at the bar.

Count me in on the buy Pete a new house fund.

Court always struck me as strange but anybody who clamis to know what it is like trying to stomp oiled balloons. Needs to be watched very carefully

Snail Rocket, so how fast did you go? Maybe a realistic goal would be to go faster than Rocket.

That should be easy enough in the 150 Club on your bikes.

137.709MPH was my fastest timed run. The one I went over 140 with they tore up the slip, and thanks to Jack explaining to the timing officials I'm a dumb Yorkshireman they let me run again otherwise it would have been curtains.

If you run in the 130 Club you'll need a steady hand and a fairly accurate speedo to beat me You only got 2.291MPH margin otherwise you'll break out. I reckon that'll be your hardest task if ya wanna beat ole Rocket!

14 weeks eh? That's closer than I thought. Decisions decisions.

So Friday, we get this notice in the mail. We have a package waiting at the post office. Neither of us recognizes the sender. "You expecting anything?" "Nope, I'm not expecting anything, how about you?"

We figure it's a certified letter notifying us the IRS is about to take the house or something.

Anyhoo, Susan gets up the courage to go pick it up on Saturday, and here's what we got:

We got this very nice piece of artwork commemorating the Team Elves effort and general good time we had last fall. Accompanying it is a very nice letter from several of our friends expressing what a great time they had at our place.

What a ride! Finished up welding the CAT in record time, (I was motivated) and then went into the mts. with some friends. The Gix makes an awesome dual sport, but could use a little more throw on the shocks. We did some really gnarly rock roads, and some super sublime paved twisties. Little over 200 miles in all.

Court, the Suzuaki Hayabusa was wind tunnel tested by an independnt reaserach facility and was then declared the most aerodynamic production motorcycle built. Or something like that. I can dig up the webpage if necessary, but not tonight I'm whipped.

I like Aarons idea of going for a record rather than the 150 club, that way I can't won't break out. I'd like to go as fast as I'm capable of.

My cam batts. are dead, I'll post a pic I took from the Bear Camp Road between Galice and Agness OR at about 4K ft., (the summit is 5K)

what a great day. I even rode Will's Beemer Adventurer, it was like climbing up on a giraffe.

Which is wider and therefore presents more frontal area to the forces of still air when moving through it at speed... a big wide four cylinder engine with a honkin' radiator in front, or a thin two cylinder air-cooled engine? The Busa fairing is slippery... for it's size.

The RR fairing is more so... and smaller.

You oughta put some effort into juicing up the Busa and getting the gearing adjusted to break 200 mph. Would that be too cool or what? Plan on like 5%-8% wheel spin.

Blake, just when I sort of had my stable stocked to my satisfaction, now I need a Bonny Bike?

I seriously doubt I have the time or resources to juice up the Busa. Besides, I may get scared and jump off! I have ridden in sand, dirt, gravel and pavement, but never salt. Whats it like (the salt)? Is it crusty, hard, or loose, or all the above?

First year I just want to come out and have some fun and see what its like. If I get the addiction then I'll get some qualified help to get me into a big bore or something exotic.

I'm telling Jean you said I need a nother bike.

Not looking for flames, but this sounds a bit like WWII fighters with radials vs. V12s . Looking for your insight here; do the fairings around the 4 cyl water cooled bikes do anything comparable to the cowlings designed for the radials? Gut feelings tell us that a P-51 or Spitfire, various Yak Marks should be faster than F4-U Corsairs, P-47 Thunderbolts, Hawker Sea Furies, Focke-Wulf FW-190s, etc., but they weren't. Supercharging, turbocharging, water / methanol injection aside; just talking frontal area. Any correlation here?

First... a P51 is the undisputed fastest propeller driven plane in the world.

Second... The drag of an airplane is governed by the entire air vehicle. The engine cowling represents a much smaller percentage of the overall drag of an airplane versus that of a motorcycle. Also, there's that thing called a propeller twirling around in front of an airplane's engine.

Drag (D) = CDQA, where CD is the dimensionless coefficient of drag, Q is the stagnation pressure equal roughly to V2/391 (V being velocity in MPH) for STP conditions, and "A" is the frontal or "incident" area.

If you have two vehicles with the same coefficient of drag (CD, not CDA), which needs more power to go faster? Answer... the one with the larger frontal area.

There are other types of drag, but they are not germane to the topic of motorcycles, jeliners or maybe a streamliner yes, but not a Buell or Busa. :)

The blunt nose of a radial causes a stagnation area that has the effect of a rounded nose.
The Tu-114 is the 504mph airliner version of the Tu-95 bomber, 575mph @ 40,000 ft with 4, 59,180 shp (44,132 kW) turboprops.

In motorcycle terms, I suspect the Craig Vetter milage contest Yamaha 175 has the best practical streamlining. A dustbin fairing with tail & cutouts for riders legs, being able to stick out a leg & spoil the airflow. (not to mention put a foot down @ stops) The full streamliner bikes often tipped over in crosswinds.
