Does anyone know what wheel code "25HL DSC BLKED 24" is? I had a dealership bring up a VIN and the wheel code said that, but he said it should have come up as cast or polished PM for tubers. So does anyone know what part of # is for wheels and which is the code for PM's? Thanks for your help |

Does anyone here actually care about VIN matching wheels? lol That's a selling point? |

All I care about is that the better ones are on it, not what is original. But the guy selling the bike is making a big deal of the originality of them. |

Well, better is a matter of opinion... The PM's are actually the heaviest of the wheels for tubers. But I like my PM's on mine...Just sayin' lol (Message edited by brinnutz on January 24, 2010) |

Tomorrow I'll take a look at my PMs to see what SN is on the slotted set and on the solid spoke set and send you a PM. |

There's nowhere on a VIN that indicated what wheels were originally equipped. I asked the guy to clarify what part of the VIN shows that. What did a dealer bring up that showed a Wheel Code? I've never seen the dealers get any of that info, either. |

Some of the extras may show up in the Build Sheet but not necessarily the VIN #. |

Where's the ad for X1 that was for sale with the guy claiming that it was 1 of 1 because it was a carbon/kevlar with PM wheels? |

Yes to the above. Though the original ad from the original owner is the 2nd link. The original owner sold it here... |

There is no wheel serial number. There is a wheel part number. It would appear on a " build sheet", not on any dealer paperwork that I am aware of. |

Thanks guys, I downloaded a manual and that showed nothing in the breakdown of the VIN w/ wheel options. |

Court, et al - if you (we; a dealer) gets on H-Dnet and goes to the "vehicle information" screen, it will show all as-built information for a VIN. For a tuber that includes body color, wheel/frame color where applicable, and wheel type (usually either "polished" or "cast"). Each line is led off with a code, in this case 024. This is the same as the "campaign history" screen. SWR/build info on the left side of the screen; safety/recall information on the right side. As I told the OP when I ran the VIN in question, the description that came up sounds like the current description for a Fatboy Lo wheel (25 hole black). Which tells me HD is re-using old wheel codes - but the computer only pulls the code that's registered to the VIN, and shows the current 'definition' of that code. And no, there is no VIN digit that indicates one wheel or another. It's not like digit 8 (or whatever) on an old Mopar will tell you what engine it was built with. Just another sales pitch from an eager seller of this X1. Thanks guys for the help on this one. The bike is still rare, but the wheels aren't original like the seller says. |

Rat: I am aware. Never seen the dealers view but I do have the build shhets in Excel Spreasheets with the same info just presented sans the dealer mumble jumble |

Any value the bike had as a one-of-one went out the window when they started modding the bike, anyway. |
