How do you find the rear brake? I haven't done many miles due to poor weather. Apart from warning lights that should not be on I have noticed the rear brake is very poor. I am sure with more miles the brake will improve some what, but what do you guys think of your rear brakes?

It will improve if you keep using it all the time in the beginning.

rear break ? there is a reason the front one is so big and the back one is a itty bitty thing

under hard braking it takes little effort on the rear to have your tire lock up on you just got to get used to using more front brake

Once you get the pads broken in it works fantastic. I use mine more than the front due to my current disability.

i find it most useful when i want to scrub off a few MPH while leaned over without upsetting the suspension/arc. when sitting at a sloped stoplight it is nice too.

and if you lock it up, it is no biggie, unlike the front. and yes it will improve some the more you use it, but by no means is your primary braking method.

Mine sucks too. 2300 miles on my CR

I use both under almost all the time.

I like to use the back to slide sideways when I'm messing around ...

A rear brake is never a primary means of slowing a motorcycle down, it should be used during normal braking to steady the rear end. But when trickling through traffic at two or three miles an hour it gives you better control than using the front, especially when the handle bars are turned. Currently mine feels like a lump of wood. I expect as others have said it will improve a little once bedded in.

When the AMA pros come to our local track it blows everyones mind how they can "back it in" to the biggest turn off the longest straight using the rear brake. I only wish I had such talent. True, in racing school they tell you to never use the rear brake. But once you have the required experience, used properly the rear brake is an advantage on the track.

Mine is useful in helping me hold the bike in place when stopped on an incline if I need to take my hands off the front brake for whatever reason. I do use it just like I have for 20+ years, but that's more habit than it is experience that shows it capable of stopping an 1125. Not a chance ...
