Holy crap Jim!!!! You can't lay that on us and then make small talk like you haven't just dropped a bomb. Will you be able to actually rev that thing? Have you actually got it going or are you still fabricating? Details! Details! Details!!!!! (Please?) |

Jim, most impressive! With no fins, though, it will probably overheat in traffic. When can I get one for my M2? |

"I'm just tellin ya, it ain't that much faster." Let me get this right ... you're telling me 208 "ain't that much faster" than the 190 or so that your Kawadonkey might be able to muster out there (with a tailwind)? ROTFLMAO!!! Dood, before you go holding yourself out as an expert like this, you really ought to go look up the relationship between horsepower and speed and do a little math. "And in certain arena's, as with all things, it's not faster at all." Man, you're killing me here Earth to Brian ... I've seen my dyno sheet, and I've seen yours, and if that's all you got, my Buell will stomp the crap out of your donkey bike from any speed, without even breaking a sweat. |

I couldn't find a fee schedule on the salt website, except for the memebership fee. Couldn't find a calender either, except the one for sale for $3. So, when we going? How much do 150 club cost? Will an old man on Susuki be welcome to hang with Team Elves, or treated like third class citizen? These questions and more to follow. PPIA, if you really can't go I might be interested in your ticket. Is there a campground near the area? I have a bitchin new enclosed trailer, and the urge to race. Paul

Well don't just talk about it Aaron. Let's see that Dyno sheet. You know what I've got. I have no idea what you've got. Certainly makes for an easier arguement don't it? Thanks for the $100 offer Jim, but it might cost a little more than that. Blake, I'm not bothered at all. Really. Amused, absolutely! Again, reality is to achieve 200mph on a 12 little people in the right conditions, need at least 180hp, big people at least 210hp or combination there of! Tail wind and cold day maybe 190 for a big person! I already got 182 with just a pipe. But again, I'm not that into it really. Amazing how this non-expert can bring the experts out around here. Blake and Aaron, take those hooks outta your mouths. You look ridiculous standing there.

Paul: We would LOVE to have you join us. You have been, for a long time, a valued member of this group. Through agreement and disagreement you have always remained a gentlemen. We are going September 19-22, 2003 Entry fee: $295.00 if postmarked by 7.15.03 - $365.00 after 7.15.03. Prep Fee: $15.00 130 Club: Entry = $90.00 / Prep fee = $15.00 IMPORTANT: Get your membership to the USFRA purchased first for $35.00 at www.saltflats.com. News about qualifying for TEAM ELVES will be forthcoming on the www.teamelves.com site as soon as a certain Dane returns from a week on the road racing motorcycles. Activities, within the last week, are underway in earnest. Volunteers are welcome. Specific needs will be posted soon. NOTE: We have one 150 Club fully transferable (from last years rain out) entry available for purchase from a wimp Aussie turned Hollandish who is rumored to be absent this year. NOTE: The relationship between HP and speed is a cube sort of a deal. The HP required to make the leap to lightspeed from 180 would be equal to about a Dodge Viper. If you have a license to violate the laws of physics, come on out in September and get it on a timing ticket and go thumb your nose at the world of Newtonian Physics and all those folks who believed in that apple from the tree crap. >>> my Stock M2 can hit two hundred as well... Bill: That's not an entirely inaccurate statement. But first your M2 would have to go to Florida or Colorado with a large bag of cash. Remember how short a time ago folks (including the fellow on the Hayabusa sitting next to Richard Nallin on the starting line) laughed at those "idiots" who thought a Buell would break 200 MPH? 208.546....who'd have thunk it? |

Pete,I echo Jim Witt's sentiments.I would be more than happy to pony up some cash for you to come on over,Team Elves needs you!!And seeing as how I volunteered $100.00 to get Brian H. here I can certainly come up with some for you(you know he's not gonna go) Paul, forget the camping.Room rates during the week are an astronomical 15.00,probably go up to 70 for the weekend.Split a room with someone. And I believe 150 club rate is same as regular class so about 295.00plus membership. And of course you be treated like a third class citizen, thats how everyone is treated. No special treatment for AARP.(total low blow) |

Court Canfield,it appears we need to set up a GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE fund again,or do some serious arm twisting. It seems some valued member(s) of Team Elves are gonna be no show. And we cannot allow that to happen. So I am putting in first $50.00( with a certain $100.00 in reserve) . So turn out your pockets and steal the change from your wife's purse and send cash. |

I'm in. Glad to be treated like a third class citizen, I was afriad you'd roll out the red carpet and give me special attention and embarass me. I'd help get Peter over here but I'm still mad at him for not letting me try out for a position on his dance team. Perhaps I could forward the money I saved by not buying the tu-tu. Count me in, I would be of little value as a team member except I like to eat, and have access to first class seafood. I have a nice ramped 23' enclosed race trailer, and could bring a seond smaller single axel 'chase' trailer as well, if needed. All I have to do now is try to figure out how to explain it to the wife. She's completely convinced I am certifiably insane, so it should be easy enough. Paul |

Snail, Come on in. We are a big happy family of serious individuals.I for one as an oddball elf (a Blast Sidecar effort) would welcome anyone with the balls to try. This happens to be a dream of mine from back in high school. BrianH, Put up or shut up!!!! Aaron not only can talk the talk, but he walks the walk. (Proven by TIMING SLIPS ON THE SALT) So far, you seem to be only able to talk the talk. Bring it on baby, I think you will be very surprised at your results. (But who am I to talk, I ride a BUELL) I think your comments to Aaron & Blake are un called for and show the maturity of a knat. You make me laugh at your attitude towards that you know little about. The only thing that I know is that Aaron has been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and LIKED it. Ray

Snail: Well, like a marriage made in heaven, that strange symbiotic alignment of the planets may have once again occurred. One of the things I am in fairly desperate need of this year is a trailer like you mentioned. Our beloved The Woz will be traveling the USA on a motorcycle and will be arriving from the East, via bike, rather than the traditional West armed with www.breadtruck.com. One of the early things we are at work on is preparing an inventory of the stuff in the bread truck (tarps, tent poles, air compressor, etc) and arranging alternate sources. Suppose you'll have any spare room in that thing? We'd be excited to have you join us. Being "certifiably insane" will work in your favor. As you meet the other Elves from America, Australia, Holland, Denmark, England and Belgium, insanity, in copious quantity, will allow you to blend perfectly. If you rise above our level of insanity, it's no problem. I simply load you full of adult beverages in the evening and send you on the streets with the singing duet of a Fireman and Body shop dude. I've pretty much got the gestalt continuum covered.... Court (perhaps more of a Group Therapist than a Manager)

Court, Have Trailer Will Travel, air compressor, 4 kw(noisy) gen, hose, air wrenchs, lots of other tools. Let me know what you need, I'll bring it if I can get it. I'd post a pic of the trailer but when I try I keep getting a message that insists I'm too dumb to post pics on BADWEB. Blake's instructions didn't work. Do I get to assume Woz's other responsibility, posing with the pretty girls? You guys go easy on Cecil, he's doing the best he can with what he has to work with. Paul |

In 12 minutes....(9:00 PM EDT) on the Discovery channel it's MOTORCYCLE MANIA about all the motorcyclists who flock to The Bonneville Salt Flats in pursuit of Land Speed Records. My son at dinner...."and you are worried about a guy named SNAIL at Bonneville?" It'll be GREAT ! |

Court, as long as you're on the Bonneville theme today, we've been doing a little advance planning in terms of flying a certain Bonanza into Wendover so we might be able to watch the Elves play. Problem is they don't rent cars at Wendover! How the heck are we supposed to get to a hotel and find the salt? What's up with that???

Paul, that would be very cool if you could come join us. The 150 club isn't overly popular because the entry fee and the safety requirements are essentially the same as the record classes. You *could* just sign up in a record class, y'know. You may not break a record (or you may!), but at least you could run as often as you want and with the throttle wide open (they'll toss you out if you exceed 160 in the 150 club). 'Course, you odds of making it into the 150 club are quite a bit higher and it's a pretty exclusive club. Count me in on the "bring Peter to Bonneville" fund! And Peter, the M2 is running better than ever, it'll be here waiting for you.

Aaron, you really complicated my thinking. Now I have a bunch more questions. Like what class would I run, or where can I do reasearch for info? Should I get some narrow wheels? What type tires get best traction? I had planned to do the simple 150 mph for four runs and then pin it for run #5 just to see what I could get out of the beastie. Can I run two bikes on one entry fee? You have created a monster. Paul |

Hey guys, Thanks for the idea, but if I come over I'd rather do it under my own steam. I'm a bit funny about accepting help from others. Being brought up in the Australian outback put a lot of emphasis on being self reliant I guess. We are buying a new house in August, which is why the funds are getting tighter. I'll hit the boss up this week to see if the time is available, if it is and if I can swing it with my own money , I'll be there. Thank you for your kindness though. Pete |
