So I installed a pair of the 'operators manual canisters' on the bottom of my Journey bags. (BTW, Xylene takes that yellow paint right off!) And I just picked up a "First Aid Kit In A Bottle". It fits right in one of the tubes, with some room to spare. I'm just going to leave it in there forever now. The kit comes with: Water Bottle Scissors Tweezers Tons of Bandages Gauze Adhesive Tape Antiseptic Towelettes Alcohol Prep Pads Hand Wipes Sting Relief Pads Emergency Whistle Tissue Pack Zip Lock Bags Then I added: Safety matches in a match tube 50' para cord I've also started collecting stubby tools for the other tube. I'm excited for next riding season! |

Good start on the Med kit, I'd recommend adding rubber gloves, one of those space/mylar blankets, CPR mouth guard and some quick clot. I'd also mark the out side of the black tube with the medical symbol (red cross on white background) in case you are the one that has be injured and someone else needs to help you. They should be able to spot it easily. |

I don't know how Mike mounted his, but I'm sure he did it something like this.

This looks like a great idea... big enough to fit my toolkit in probably! Mike, did you mount yours the same way as Wolfridgerider? |

Mine are installed identical to Marks (posted above). And thanks for the tips Steve, if anyone else has 'riding first aid kit' tips, I'm all ears! |

Nice idea. For the Med kit, I would add one of those cold compress things that get cold when you crack them open, and some aspirin. |

The pic from the rear looks like dual exhaust. "Those mufflers sure are quiet!" |

Wolf, are you using anything on the inside of the case to spread the load like you have on the outside, or just the plate on the outside? I think this just got added to my winter "to do" list. |

The MSR bottles can be used for reserve fuel, yes? Might have to do that... |

The MSR bottles can be used for reserve fuel, yes? That's what they're made for! Well, technically they're made for stove fuel, but close enough! |

That's a great place to mount those. I thought about mounting mine on the bottom of my Zegas, which would be the perfect place while they are on the bike, but then I would lose the ability to use the cases at tables while camping. Still vacillating over where I'm going to put them. |

I vacillated to the point of not installing them prior to my trip and really wish I had them in Wyoming, Utah and parts of Canada! a couple of other options.. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/439989.html |

I have mine mounted the opposite direction and it has worked out well for me. Sorry for the pic but it is the best one I have of it right now. the brace between the saddle bags is nearly (1/4") the same as the canister. with some convincing it was the same as the canister.

You could add the 3M Scotchlite black reflective tape to the bottom of the canisters for a little extra viz at night. http://cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item= RK is just one place that you can source uncut sheets of the stuff. |

First aid: Some super glue for the real bad cuts. Carry benedril for allergic reactions. |

Some super glue for the real bad cuts. Butyl-cyanoacrylate from 3M sold under the brand VetBond is even better. It is used by veterinarians and is more elastic than commercial super glue and has fewer toxins. It also contains a blue dye so you can more accurately apply it to the wound. It's the compound used during the Vietnam War during which the "super glue stitch" became famous. |

Related story, after seeing this thread I went to my local TSC Store (tractor supply company) to see if they have the tube. The nice fellow at the service counter says nope, don't know what you mean. I turn around to leave and bumped into a small chipper shredder machine and bolted on top was the tube! He still can't get me the tube so I'm going see if the Agri Supply will ship to Canada. |

Any idea where to buy that Butyl-cyanoacrylate 3M stuff? Any stores sell it? Don't know if any stores sell it. Perhaps a Petsmart or Petco. I get most of my pet stuff online, so that is where I got it. Last place i got it from was www.revivalanimal.com I believe. A family friend who is a surgeon recommended it and said that's what he keeps in his first-aid kit around the house for his kids. |
