Hi Snail, did some digging at Sacborg but could not find your pictures. I was ever one of the first to register there, but the system lost my password. And it is not me, who forgot the password because I have only one, for all occasions: You never know when Herxheimer strikes. Maybe already a near miss, while I forgot to check S320002 out, before correcting him in reading a simple curve.
I would like to get some pics of your fishing boats. I have part of my savings put in an ship:
MS Enforcer. Have a look at http://www.jrshipping.nl/ Good intro with that sound: Reminds me to my Buell, before the valve lifters are filled with oil. Have to swap the horn on my M2 for that sound.
Saw on Sacborg that you rode/own that develish 180 hp engine. Geez, that goes so fast that you can be trapped here 4 times within 9 minutes for a capital crime.
Keep your limbs together.
Hans

Do a...

\imagelink{URL}

where "URL" is the web address of your picture, and you can post web resident photos here same as on SacBORG. I thought I taught ya that once already? Just try not to post anything too mongo huge that it will overwhelm the page. Definitely below 800 pixels wide, 640 is even better.

S'posed to be 97oF here today. What happened to Springtime?!!!

Snail,I spent an enormous amount of time at last years event in line with John Noonan(We spent an average of 4 hours each time we got in line.).A very friendly SoCal boy.Pleasant, helpful, and way fast.He shredded a front tire on one run at 219mph and rode it out.I have e-mailed back and forth with him several times.Hope he makes it back out in sept.
And there were a bevy of Hayabusas at the nov. event, all with that magic 200mph number in their heads.Very few were able to get there.Only one I remember was a very trick 1650cc Busa owned by John Caspar of BC.That 4000+ elevation and slippery salt tend to slow things down.Hell bring your bike out and run in the 150mph club, great fun.

Brian asked:

On that note, that Buell being fast and all, would you not agree that with proper gearing, and some fueling adjustments, a stock 12 or Busa would be able to get beyond 200?

Hey Brian,

I've never missed a Team Elves event yet and last year was no exception. Ended up being Jim Higgins gopher, chase car driver, cheerleader for all (no costume) and party animal (actually Jim and I were the party animals). BTW, Jim is one tough dude for an old guy.

Since the lines were outrageously long at the event we were able to hold lengthy conversations with all those participating. There was a ton of Busas at the event (to say the least). About half of them were ass holes (maybe just introverts) and the rest very talkative. John Noonan is extremely outgoing and willing to tell you anything about his bike. He told me he was pushing 450 ponies and targeting 240 (course I sort of laughed inside …… ya right, what’z this fucking dude smoking). As a matter of fact, you couldn’t shut him up.

Anyway ….. OldFireManJim and I were in line with all the Busa dudes and I never heard of any of them hitting the 200mph marker but they might have. A couple hit 190 and one dude hit 195. To my knowledge none were in pure stock format and all were sort of disappointed (except Noonan). I know for a fact that 2 guys lost their engines and another lost a tranny.

A stock Busa or ZX-12 will not do 200 mph at Maxton. Low 180's Max, you might be surprised to see what it takes for 200mph, althougha savy Busa owner can do it a lot cheaper.

The only thing a guy needs to make a Busa go 200mph is about $2500 and Bob Carpenter Race Engine's phone number. All motor.

I know a guy who went 202.593 with 192 naturally aspirated rear wheel horsepower. Must be the elevation difference?

That's it eh? Funny how all those poor fools at Bonneville last year had so much trouble doing just that. You should go tell them how easy it is.

I think you should load up the ZX12 and come join us.

Brian, no flames here.

I race 2-3 times a yr at Maxton, 1 Bonneville.

Several friends of mine at Maxton race Busa's.

I have no doubt that $2500 properly invested could yeild 200+ mph to a good pilot.

on a good day......

on a bad salt day,. well if the traction ain't there it ain't there.

I like the ZX12, bring it Maxton and race with us, we'll try help you out. While I wish you success I think your speeds will be lower than you expect, and you'll have a great time.

We will be at Maxton June 28-29th.

Hey, I don't have any aspirations to go 200mph. I get scared at 150. But I see guys doing it all the time on Busas and 12s. Heck, Bob Carpenter is getting like 250+ rwhp out of a naturally aspirated 1420cc "non-stroked" Busa motor. That's sick!

Reality is, a pimple faced 18 year old can purchase a bike that's 95% capable, out of the box, of doing achieving the goals you guys slaved over with a Buell.

Ok ??, so what ??

"a pimple faced 18 year old can purchase a bike that's 95% capable, out of the box, of doing achieving the goals you guys slaved over with a Buell"

It's like trying to describe the joys of home ownership difference between someone scrapping for money and a trust fund baby, it means more because of the way it was done.

I remember the bikes of the kids who never had to work for them, who never took care of them. Somehow they seemed to lose their luster and turn to junk sooner than ours. No problem, they'll just get a new one bought for them. We'll take care of ours and make them last.

Pride of ownership !

Most Rocketbike owners lose it just as soon as next years model comes out. Each of ours is a classic timepiece.

Brian,

Once optimally tuned, obviously elevation, wheel slippage, gearing and driver are keys to a major success and a woody. BTW, John Noonan told me how much he had in his Busa for his speed goal, what was done to it and it was indeed substantial ($10,000). John didn’t simply pull his Busa out of his garage, make a few tweaks and pursue land speed racing. He had a few growing pains that cost him a few bucks. I also saw him run at El Mirage.

Oh Dana, Don't ask him to start talking about his Buell. It could very well lead directly to the ruin of the BadWeB as we know it.

Go get something to drink Brian. Take a few deep breaths and relax. Down boy. Sit. Stay.

Humm,

I know what you guys are getting at and there probably isn’t an understandable answer for it. I heard a ton of streamliner dudes talk about the Busa engine and how inexpensive its’ horsepower is for the bucks spent. They are from a Bonneville “class” that believes in going as fast as you can as inexpensively as you can for that class, just as the electric driven entries, bar-stool racers, go-karts, streamliners or special entries. Humm … maybe its’ passion, or love, the challenge, being unique and different, camaraderie, pleasurable or hell, maybe all of these! Fuck man, why do guys want a look like girls and girls look like guys. The world is a crazy place dude!

Luc Foekemas 50cc drag bike in Holland. He ripping off 15.79 in this little gizmo on pump gas. DAMN! I love the European safety standards!!

Bar Stools

Why race a Turbo Diesel

Why Spend a million on me?

Just Having Fun I suppose?

Okay

Hey, I don't profess to be an expert on anything. You said your Buell is faster than my bike. And for all your effort, I'm just tellin ya, it ain't that much faster. And in certain arena's, as with all things, it's not faster at all.

Check out the "Run Your Own" info on the venerable TeamElves Site. The direct link is...

Brian,
Which arena would your bike be faster? :? LOL!!! It just tears you apart to think a Buell is faster than your ZX12R. Don't bother denying it cause it is as plain as the nose on your face. LOL!!!

JIM!!!
We now see what all that billet was for! Details! Give us Details! Don't make me come out there! 315o 405o 315o 405o ? Offset crank journals?

I threw down the gauntlet to Brian over on Sacborg where he was slammin' Aaron's Bonneville accomplishments and talkin' up his bike.Offered to put up $100.00 for his entry fee at Bonneville. His words", but I'm fairly certain that with proper gearing a stock ZX12 makes enough power and is slippery enough to attain the Big Buell's speeds. The big Buell is slower in a 1/4 mile for certain."Course that would mean he would actually have to back up what he says----

Chop,
Possibly. Any more info? What are they exactly?
Brianh/Cecil is just a coward with a big mouth.

I don't think I'm going to be able to get to Bonneville this year, but I still have a prepaid entry for the 150 club. Anyone like to buy it from me? The organisers said it could be transferred to someone else. If I cashed it in with them though, I lost $100 for "administration costs". It is one of the entries that were cheaper when paid for before July 15.
