what is actually American made on an XB besides the engine ? The frame is made by Verlicchi(sp?), swingarm Brembo, wheels Marchesini, shock and frontend Showa(could be made in TN plant), calipers Nissin, I'm not sure about the DDFI. I hate the fact that we don't make anything anymore in this country. | ||

Ken, I hear you. You might consider... Who engineered integrated and built the bike as a whole (by far the most difficult tasks)? Who conceived of and designed the frame? Who invented and designed the swingarm? Where did the idea to implement a perimeter "ZTL" front brake and super light front wheel originate? Where was it designed? The engine and tranny are worth half the price of the bike. The final drive belt is American too. I miss the old WP suspensions. Maybe they'll make a come-back. Oh, I think the bodywork is American made too. The DDFI and ECM are American made I think. The wiring harness is American made, no? Header and muffler? Seat? Battery? It's all good.  | ||

Our company has signed a secrecy agreement with Buell, so I can't discuss details, but we are an American supplier. They buy parts from all over the world, but they design and build bikes in the USA. The innovation and fresh ideas that make them so unique are all American. The company is a collection of truly bright, creative individuals. If some of the crotchety old poops who post on here sat down to have a few beers with some of the people at Buell, they'd quickly understand what really makes these bikes much better than any souless gixxer. They're on their way. I'm completely confident that 10 years from now, they will stand as one of the great American success stories. | ||

The wiring harness was made by AFL, an American company - however, more than likely it was manufactured in Mexico or possibly the Phillipines.  Cheap labor, what can you do? Bryan | ||

Actaully...may I suggest another test. Compare, as the last 6 years have passed, the ratio of parts on Buell, to wit: A: "Catalog" parts - those that could be purchased from the myriad of Japanese or Italian suppliers that ALREADY EXISTED and Buell selected and used on motorcycles. These, by the way, represent some very world class items from firms such as Showa and CEV. B: Those items that were conceived, designed and had their manufacturing and QA/QC programs developed by Buell and that Buell searched/travelled the world finding the most capable producer, satisfied themselves as to the producers ability to consistency produce the quality Buell prescribed and under the direction of Buell staff sent there to oversee production. There, ladies and gentlemen, is where you will find the BIG change. Buell apparently read the basic McConnell Economics text. It's the reason the Soviets buy Hard Red #10 Winter Wheat from Kansas and Kansans buy Baluga Caviar from the Soviets. Anyway....I'm going to rip the non-USA manufactured parts from this laptop the moment I hit "send" NOT ! | ||

Remember when the H-D crowd screamed about "jap controls"?? It's a world market, If Thailand makes the best thingees, buy from Thailand. My complaint is U.S. companies that move the plant to Red China. I bought a Toshiba TV 'cause the tube was made in Horseheads NY. I couldn't find a U.S. company's product with any U.S. parts. Toyota started sending managers to the U.S. plant to learn how the yankee workers were out producing with better quality than the Nippon workers.... How much for a Firebolt made by Joker machine? I doubt I could buy it. Enough bitching, I'm going for a ride, It's sunny now. | ||

I bought a Toshiba TV 'cause the tube was made in Horseheads NY. No kidding? Wasnt aware anyone made anything related to televisions here in the states anymore. I just picked up a 27" Flatscreen Toshiba 2 weeks ago. Very nice set. |
