This might be old news, but I haven't seen it discussed here. I sent an email to EBR about their XB race exhausts, and these are the responses I received. Looks like I'll hold out to see how these look. Hello Erik and crew, Pardon me if I'm jumping the gun and rushing you guys, but I was wondering if you are still planning on selling XB exhausts? If so, are they available? Is this the same as the race cans that were previously discontinued? Very interested... Best Regards, Nick _________________________________ Dear Nick, We will have an XB exhaust much like the race can that was discontinued. However, we do not have any in stock, and it will be several months before we get them. Thanks and best regards, Customer Support Erik Buell Racing _________________________________ Thanks for the prompt response, I look forward to these becoming available. Do you by chance have an ETA? When you say 'much like the race can that was discontinued', can you elaborate on what will change? A friend of mine had the old style and we liked it a lot. Will tuning be required? Thanks, Nick _________________________________ Dear Nick, We believe it will be April before we have the new systems. They will require tuning, but we will have a race ECU available with the right map for this system pre-loaded. You will also be able to buy the programming software and datalink if you want to experiment or change more parts, but it won’t be necessary if you run a stock motor with the race exhaust. Customer Support Erik Buell Racing So, excuse this if this is old news....I'm interested to see what they come out with and how similar it is to their old exhaust. Hopefully pricing is competitive, unlike all those used race systems selling on eBay for big bucks. |

I had a good feeling that was going to be the case, the XB pace bikes all had race cans on them. |

I'll definitely purchase one if they're anything like the old race pipes. |

I have a drummer exhaust and assuming this new exhaust is similar to the old race pipes, i'm hoping i can just plug-and-play with the new pretuned race ecm. Wouldn't u guys think the drummer and race ecm would be an upgraded combo from what i'm currently getting with my stock ecm?? It's an 08 12s. i've been wanting to tune my ecm since i bought the bike, but to no avail! |

The last I heard from Erik Buell Racing, they were experiencing supplier issues in the spring. They told me to check back in July/August, which I have not done yet. I'm sure their racing season and regular duties are taking away from this part that is likely in lesser demand than 1125-specific parts. Would love to see what they come up with, though. |

The problem is the smaller volume. When Buell was still making Race Kits years ago, they could easily sell a thousand units a year. That is not the case anymore, so it is harder for Erik Buell Racing to get small quantities of these cool parts. |

Actually, based on my last conversation with them, the problem wasn't necessarily just the small volume. By in large, many of their suppliers weren't keen on doing business with Erik Buell Racing as opposed to HD/Buell. We didn't go into details, but brand loyalty/perception/history goes a long way in supplier relationships. But I agree to an extent. Lower volumes will ultimately drive up price and limit availability. What the actual reason is - we don't know. |
