Hello, I am attempting to change out a bad cooling fan. In the manual it says to remove the top of the rear shock mount by lifting the back wheel off the ground via the rear jack point of the exhaust. I have the back wheel well off the ground with a scissor jack on the rear jack point, but it seems that the allen bolt holding the top of the shock to the frame is refusing to give. I have tried using a breaker bar, and still nothing. Is there something I'm not doing in order to release the tension from the rear shock? Thanks for the help | ||

With the rear wheel off the ground, there is no tension from the rear shock other than the weight of the rear wheel/tire, swingarm, etc. That bolt can be a bugger to loosen, and be mindful of stripping it out. I find it best to break the bolt free with the wheel on the ground, and then raise and continue loosening. I used a breaker bar with a 'cheater' bar... |
