Zack, you're a wealth of information! Easyrider: It's not related to how much fuel you have. I filled up and had 25 or so miles on mine when this was happening. It's definitely related to the cold and some quirkiness in a sensor or software as Zack as pointed out. The good news is here in Texas I doubt I'll see this problem more than once or twice a year at best. Wayne |

Wbrisett, that is not what i mean, it is the amount of shoke (coldstart enrichment) at warm wetter it is never in the lowest range. when it is cold like now, the bike go's into the deepest cold start and the IAT sensor is wide open. I think there is a relation to the bad error.. |

Wbrisset, I think what easyrider is trying to say is... It is important to check for codes in the ECM first. The procedure to check codes in the ECM via the Instrument Pack is described in the owners manual. Any codes stored can be referenced here if need be. I/P firmware and/or fuel level sensor issues should be addressed after you verify there are NO codes stored... |

froggy, do you REALLY get 180 miles out of a tank? I am lucky to get 120 before the light goes on. And I have the cool weather indicator problem and I don't think I will worry about changing out the IC if it requires another trip to a Harley Dealer. Just don't care much for the experience. |

On a bad day yes, my best is 230 before the light came on. I normally stop at 200 miles. I also get well over 240 miles on the XB before that light comes on. |

I'm getting 28 or 29 and you are getting maybe 36MPG. I don't ride hard on my commutes.Stock bike. What gives? Are you using a spinaker? |

I am averaging about 40mpg on my CR, and that is without hypermiling it. My best was 53mpg average with some hypermiling. 60's typical on the XB, with 75 being my peak with hypermiling. Blast is about 70mpg with 85 as my peak with hypermiling. My CR is stock, putting the clubman bars on it helped improve fuel economy a bit too. My unbroken in 1125R is getting much worse, but I haven't had enough seat time to figure it out. |

I also get well over 240 miles on the XB before that light comes on. There's the difference. An XB. R |

Yes, but the CR has gotten me 230 before the light came on, and typically comes on in the ballpark of 200 miles. I was only listing the XB for comparison as many XB'ers get half the range. |

quote:Hypermiling is the act of driving using techniques that maximize fuel economy. Those who practice these techniques are referred to as "hypermilers."
I am one of those people that can get over 100mpg on a Prius hybrid (company car), and almost 40mpg on a stock V6 Chevy Monte Carlo. I should be able to hit 40 this summer when I start modifying it. |

Read this, many of them apply to bikes http://ecomodder.com/forum/EM-hypermiling-driving- tips-ecodriving.php Make an account and lurk on the forums, lots of good info. You thought people here argue over oil? Wait till you see people debating the aerodynamic effects of hubcaps |

My bike wouldn't start the other day (25 degrees out) cranked over great but just wouldn't fire, I eventually gave up on starting it after a while |

Hi, I am facing the same problem on my bike. Last time I went for a ride, it was about 0 ° Celsius (32 ° F). The fuell and the engine light came on and disappeared after about 1/4 of a mile. I went in Diag mode and saw a code: B1005: lowfuel sys err. What is strange is that my firmware version is 7.1. Is it really bug free ? Or is the fuell gauge faulty ? I have not seen my dealer yet about this. (Message edited by easylarveur on January 14, 2010) |

Froggy, I read that whole thing. Pretty cool. I took note on the braking section. I bought my 04 F-250 brand new. Had a 5.4, auto. When I traded it in, it had 108k, and original brakes with over 1/4 in. of material left on the pads. I now have an 06 Mitsu Eclipse, and have almost 50k on the original brakes, and have absolutely no signs of wear. Just out of habit I do a lot of things that link describes. Still working on killer fuel economy though.Good read. |

My '04 Chev Avalanche has 70k on the clock and still using the original front pads...the factory ceramic ones are fantastic. Sticky caliper roached the rear pads on one side. I was able to get 60mpg hwy on a tank consistantly on my '94 civic with VVT by just taking it easy at around 55mph and trying to keep it in 'fuel sip' mode. That car was way ahead of it's time and still was fun for a tiny 4cyl...when the 4 valves opened. Too bad it looked like an egg. |

quote:I was thinking the latest Tech Tip had the resistance range at 850-1400 ohms. At any rate, mine is showing 2200 Ohms at 72 dF and Tech Services told Max to replace the fuel pump. I got some good info from a trusted source about the firmware bug. Firmware revs to fix this are 6.2 for 08/09 and 7.1 for 2010 models. The rev is on a tag on the back of the IC and can be seen at the end of data in the 09/10 IC when in Diag Mode. My IC is an 09 IC (my original had a bad switch under the "Toggle" button) and it has a 6.1 rev so I am expecting to replace that too before the end of my warranty in April. Hope this helps. Zack

I am just coming back from my dealer. The dealer made all the tests about the B1005 error code (LOWSFUELL SYS ERR). Unfortunately, today the outside temperature was above 10°C. So the dealer found nothing. Besides, as my firmware version is 7.1, it is already the latest one. There is no update available yet to correct this bug. I must wait for a really cold day to go back to the dealer. Maybe then will the dealer find something wrong...
