Okay just curious if anyone knows what there decibel ratings are on their exhaust? (2) What exhaust do you have? Was told that mine could be heard from 3 blocks away and that it was NOT legal, but was not told what my db was by the nice officer. | ||

Isn't it supposed to be something like 85 decibels for a stock pipe? | ||

If you have the stock muffler, unmodified, you are legal. 85dB sounds about right. | ||

Well I am running the toooooo loud D&D, but am in the process of making a baffle to install on top of the already baffle that came with the pipe. Only thing that is nice is that I also work for the city and he does know that I am working on toning it down a little. | ||

Enlighten me--- I dont understand how an exhaust on a 1125 R/CR can be too loud. Most of the ones I've heard sound good. How about those Harley's that shake the ground, rattle the windows and set off my car alarm. Or the rice burners that sound like a swarm of killer bees a half a mile away. I think you are just being picked on. | ||

The D&D is the loudest exhaust I've heard. Pretty much like an open header. | ||

I think you are just being picked on. Exactly how many R/CR exhausts have you heard other than thru the internet? The R/Cr is a V-Twin just like those Harley's. What makes you think they can't be made to be just obnoxiously loud? | ||

This is where my questions arise from too. After riding around on open Vance & Hines on my old bike I think I might have forgot the difference between loud and quiet pipes. The 1125 is almost silent to me. Having only the internet for a reference is a PITA since its impossible to recreate the true sound but it does give some idea. I guess I need you guys that own different pipes to ride on over to my house to I can hear it for myself. The beer is always cold.  | ||

My last bike was a '97 Suzuki, Bandit, 600s. It was much louder with a Holeshot slip-on street pipe than my 1125r w/its stock muffler. I don't like SUPER loud pipes myself, but Buell's stock pipes are WAY TO QUIET. Because of performance though I think I'll just stick w/the quiet ugly Buell pipe. I do love how the D&D looks, but I don't like how it sticks out the side and hangs so high. I e-mailed D&D and they said they WOULD NOT mod the pipe for me. I am in the process of making a special baffle to go into the D&D muffler. It should cut the bark down to somewhere around 120db. Should have some pics later on this week if everything goes okay. The sound can really only be described by listening to it, but my description of it would be a 427 Cobra with the side exhaust. Ya know that hell ya now that's an exhaust kinda sound. | ||

I read that this exhaust one a loud bike contest with probably around 125 or so. Killer sound. If you aren't ready for it it does startle you. | ||

Stock exhaust on mine is 94 dB(A), using Australia's stationary bike protocol. Buell's sticker says 102 dB(A); and yet I believe the muffler itself is stamped 85 dB(A). | ||

A D&D can be tracked by satellite. They are just rude at idle but quieten a lot when running. |
