Anyone could to say me what air cleaner makes better performance? Forcewinder system or Ham Can HurricaneFlow air cleaner???... I'm running with a C.F. Ham Can Hurricane and I'm not entirely happy with performance. wondering if Will a Forcewinder makes better performance and if there is a big enough difference with regards to Ham Can?..... Can anyone give me any of recommendation answering a mundane question?.... Any info would be helpful. |

You probably wont notice a difference between the 2. Ive gone from a hbbi (same as a fw) to my buell race cleaner, and there was no difference in the butt dyno. YMMV |

I had a Forcewinder on my M2 and switched to a CF Buell race (ham can style). No real difference but I prefer the Buell race style. I would have bought the NRHS one if I could have found a used one for a good price. Most choose the Force for extra knee clearance and or looks. I think that the NRHS Hurricane intake is extremely well made and a good system. I have read your tuning posts and I think that if you are looking for more performance it will come down to engine mods (head porting, cams, 1250 kit, etc). Perhaps a race header would also help her breathe and lessen the dead spot you are experiencing, but I'm a carb guy so what would I know! |

Dan @ NRHS told me that the Forcewinder is a great intake on an engine that makes 100 hp or less. |

What Capital said, BUT I have noticed it take ponies out of a sub 100 motor as well. When I was working for a dealer I had a lot of Dyno time on Sunday's. With the following mods on a 1200 tuber motor. X1 cams Stock XB heads and XB12 pistons KT exhaust 42mm flat slide With the Force 86 hp With a ham can 91 hp This was a direct swap on the dyno, full warm up etc and with a pipe sensor for perfect stoichiometric ratio... |

If the Race Intake oval doesn't bother your knee, and you already have it, I suggest don't bother to change. (Assuming that "looks" are not a factor...) I started with the Ham Can, had to change because my knee was getting sore hitting it all the time. I didn't notice anything, really. But I hardly rev mine over 4 or 5 thousand rpm very often either. There is a Dyno chart in that section here that shows them within about a horse or two on his dyno. Not worth changing from one to the other for, either way. "With the Force 86 hp With a ham can 91 hp" These numbers mean nothing when it comes with driveability. What is missing here is the hp @ RPM part of the equation. A 5 hp gain right at redline could mean nothing if you don't race your bike. Torque is what counts... |

The force has a better sound and i don't hit my knee on it! On a stock bike it is not much different. But you can tell a little at the bottom end. or try the hyper charger decisions decisions |

The Buell CF Race Cleaner actually makes more ponies on the dyno with the rest of the race kit components than the Force. But, the damn thing hits my knee, and while I've gotten used to it, still aggravates me. I occasionally burst forth with a cheery string of expletives and threaten to replace it....and then go back to riding and forget about it a while. |

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the info. After reading all comments I think I'll continue to using the Ham can Oval style, it doesn't bother my knee.... Regards. |

I have the force sidewinder and I can hear a lot of intake noise from it, the chuffing of the pistons sucking in air. I do like the looks of it, though. I don't know about the power. All of the factory motorcycles use large airboxes to smooth out the power delivery. |

BUELLers: IMHO, ECONO FORCE(K&N Tapered Oval PN RC-3860 on the end of your OEM SNORKEL) which can be run inside or outside your OEM Air Box(rain is a minus when on the out side) or the BIG $$$DOLLAR$$$ FORCE which are good in the RPM range that you ride in ... IMHO, if you are going for MAX. HP the HAM CAN set up with 2 K&N filters stacked will let your engine pump MAX. Air ... "MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!" the ham can is ok as long as your leg(thigh) has room for it. was the dyno test above run with the required porting to the vent? it is not a bolt up filter.my leg hit the bread box so I have the force filter. |

BUELLers: "IMPROVISE", on the HAM CAN making a new back plate and move it away from you knee area ... Lowering your foot pegs 1 inch also helps ... "i" am still running the PRODUCT IMPROVED OEM Air Box and lowering the foot pegs 1 inch helped me as "i" am 6 foot 3 inches tall ... |

Richsm2, "was the dyno test above run with the required porting to the vent?" I don't understand you, I don't know what did you mean by this statement? . I'm sorry but english is not my first language and sometimes find difficulties to understand or express. I´m no native speaker. Today I have subtracted 10º at the WOT/2500 rpm cell (stumbling area) and it helped a lot, so now it really does not bother me, but I'm looking it to be perfect. I think it is the way to go and this could be the main problema on my stumbling when I try to give it some gas real quick to bring the revs up from very low rpm (2500 rpm). Apparently the tuner was wrong in that particular area. At least that's what I think now, isn't? |

Probably what Richsm2 is referring to is the way earlier Force intakes had a wide channel inside leading to a port on the carb; whereas the later (current) ones have a narrow restrictive channel leading to this port on the carb. If you buy a current Force intake, one must modify the channel opening himself before installing. The same guy who did the dyno I linked to, also has a dyno showing the difference between the stock (bad) Force, and the modified one. I'm pretty sure the link I had shows a modified Force, compared directly to a Ham Can. (Message edited by jayvee on January 17, 2010) |

Does anyone know where you can still buy the ham can? The bike came with an S&S G carb on mine, with S&S Aircleaner and it dyno test at 101 hp...I just don't like the looks of the s&s cleaner |

Careful with the links, those will you get in trouble here if to non-sponsors. Better in this case to recommend calling Al at American Sport Bike and asking him to order you an NRHS hurricaneflow. I believe it's the same price from Al anyway, but you'll be supporting our sponsors as well, and Dan @ NRHS still gets his business. Win-win. (Message edited by Phelan on February 20, 2010) |
