I'm still sorting things out, my hands go numb but I'm going to try the birdshot in the tubes and some better grips plus I want to get a Throttlemeister. Other than that I've been fine but I've only gone just under 200 miles in a shot do far. But Spring is near.....oh yes it is very near. |

Sknight, I was told by a chiropractor that holding your head up is what causes the numb hands. He told me to keep my chin down more and roll my eyes up when riding. It took a little getting used to but my numb hands went away and my neck and back felt better too. This was before the 1125R purchase but i've been riding sport bikes since the '86 Honda Interceptor came out and i have done several long (>500 mile) days without issue |

I don't know if this has been brought up already. But for commuting, going from a 40+mpg xb9 to a 33mpg avg hurts a bit. |

For you fellas that have done the birdshot in the bar dealio: - How much shot did you use? - Did you just fill the bottom of a plastic baggie up so it'll just fit in the 7/8" bars, or did you secure it in anyway? - Is there any negatives from doing this? As in, can you have too much weight on the bar end? I'm putting on my Traction grips soon and I was looking to do the shot as the same time, obviously. Vibration isn't horrible on my clubmans ('09 CR), but it could use a little dampening. (Message edited by JeepinBueller on January 11, 2010) |

Pickup a 85mpg Blast, you will also save the nice expensive tires from going square on your 1125. |

3-1/2 to 4 oz of 7-1/2 shot contained in ziplock bags in each clipon did the trick for my 1125R. Just be careful removing the end caps so that you can re-use them. I tripled bagged the shot on mine. |

What makes numbness, in the hands and sometimes the elbow, emanates from the pressure of your butt on the seat. It's been demonstrated to me by switching amongst bikes and amongst soft-to-hard seats. |

Id guess that the bar height combined with arm length has a lot to due with the sore neck and numb hands. Takes about 400km trip for my neck to get sore. I figure 3 inches more bar height would remove me having to crane neck up to see. My back never gets sore and my hands never get numb but i have arms like an orangutan and legs like a chimp. |

Tipping my head over? That could work, I was a mechanic and when I held my arms over my head my fingers would go numb if I was watching what I was doing but when I couldn't see where I was sticking my hand I would look down and had no troubles. Never put the two together before. Thanks, I'll try it when my bike thaws out. Plus I found a few old birdshot shells, guess what's going to happen to them this weekend. |

I put 130 gms (4.5 oz) of #8 shot in each bar. Put the shot in a heavy (10 mil?) ziplock, the shot can cause problems if any escape. Keep the shot a little loose, it acts like a dead-blow hammer to absorb the vibrations. Z |

I got the heavy Throttlemiesters for Christmas and they made the handle bars feel like a differant bike.Look good too IMHO |

Well thanks for the input. I used to ride a 63 Triumph (20 yrs worth of it) and my arms would go numb from the vibration after 30 minutes. In comparison the blast was smooth and the XB a dream. As for MPG issue. I hate to admit it but I purchased my first foreign car to make get good mileage on this commute. I will not be giving up 40 mpg on my XB (I've alway gotten 50 backroad hot runs) or 85 on my blast (I alway got 69 regardless of anger level). I will be giving up 52 to 62 mpg in my 2001 honda insight (the clown car) hybrid 140,000. Of course I could drive my 68 GTS conv. to work - 8 MPG. But my lower gas mileage on a bike v. insight is offset by $10 per day parking. I can park for free on the bike. I sat on 1125cr the other day and it felt just like the XBs as far as the seat and leg position. So I'm fine with that. If the 1125r is the same then I'm still moving in that direction. BTW, my XB9s has a ceebailey wind deflector, which I use during winter weekend rides. I also put the hand deflectors on it so I'm close to the wind set up for Uly. If I don't go the 1125r route I'll keep it on for this boston commute during the better weather. Thanks for all the input - even the helmet digression was interesting. |
