Nvr2old Posted on Monday, January 11, 2010 Chicago cancellation policy: Any order cancelled after the 12 hour period is subject to a 10% cancellation fee. Did you pay cash or credit card? |

Credit card. I've never actually canceled an order with Chicago, but I just remember reading that in their order policy posted on their website. |

I can not see them enforcing that policy on a part they can not obtain |

I agree, and if they value your future business, they probably should never enforce it. But, it's probably something to address whenever calling them and canceling an order. I would think the policy is there for anyone that might make a habit of canceling orders. |

Does American Sport Bike have belts in stock? I thought Al was in the same situation awaiting deliveries... |

Well maybe it was a good idea I picked up that STT a couple weeks ago, at least I will have something else to ride while I wait on parts. |

Does no one have a spare belt hanging in the garage or under the seat to help this man, they will be available again. Mike if i had one i would lend it to you in a minute. I have no idea if American Sport Bike has any,I would doubt it but it would'nt hurt to ask. on jan 5th Ourdee listed 3 dealers that had belts in stock did you try any of them? |

I ordered the comfort kit on 12/10 and it arrived on 1/8 so things are moving VERY slow. The system showed 5 days plus shipping |

Bobbuell1961, I appreciate the support. Actually, one very cool "Froggy" has offered me a belt on another post, just send him mine when it comes in. Problem is, I wouldn't mind buying one outright, but a trade based on this unknown in distribution just makes me uncomfortable- so I'm still waiting. The only good part is, NEOhio has been pretty buried in snow for the last several weeks, so the cage hasn't been too awful <g>! The sun shone this weekend, though, and that hurt a bit... |

Rarebird, I also have one in the garage new in the box if you need it. Same deal as froggy. Pay for shipping on this one and send me a new one when you get it. The one I have was purchased as a spare for my 06 XB12X that I traded in. I now have a 09 XB12X. So the new belt would need to be for the 09 X. I'm not limping, bike is sitting in the dealership. I hope they put the battery on a tender at this rate. Looks like a tricky way to get free winter storage. |

Latest update on Belt # G0500.1AKF. Been on back order for a while. January 5th there were 121 on B/O. January 12th there are 99belts on B/O New B/O release date is January 19th. Figuring approximately 20 belts per factory shipment, maybe I'll get mine by the 16th of February. I'll try to keep updating this every Tuesday. |

I think I am going to go order a belt from the local dealer tomorrow. My bike only has 1,000 miles on it so far and I don't really need it but you guys are making me paranoid. What is the expected shelf life of a belt? |

Why not? Is my name at the bottom of the waiting list not as good as anybody else?

-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ quote: Why run out and add to the glut? -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Why not? Is my name at the bottom of the waiting list not as good as anybody else? Sure, your name is just as good as everyone else who created this artificial shortage of belts. It is just a little more personal to me. If people who just wanted a spare belt had not all ran down to clean out the local dealers and strip the spares out of the system, People like me who are sitting bike-less with the rarest of ridable days in January coming and going while the bike is in the dealership waiting on a belt replacement under warranty, wouldn't be so irritated. But hey, it's a free country. The reason I didn't ask my dealer to get one of the three dealerships that have a belt to ship it to them is just in case someone that is touring and breaks a belt doesn't get stranded. |

Not to be a dick, but I second Ourdee- Some of us actually NEED belts! Unfortunately, adding your name to the bottom of the list doesn't necessarily mean you'll be the last to get it- I'm not convinced order fulfillment is date-based... |

To each his own. @Ourdee - It appears that this is not an artificial shortage but an actual shortage. I didn't run out and clear out any dealers stock so that I could have a spare. I am considering ordering one for a backup. Maybe I am not clear on what you find wrong with this, but it seems perfectly reasonable to me. If I actually "need" one and I can have one shipped from another dealer that has it in stock, I would get it. Why would my need be any less real than the need of somebody else especially if my bike was down because of it? If I didn't take that opportunity then I would realize it as my own fault and not complain about it. This is my opinion, not a suggestion. @Rarebird - I have no reason to believe that my local dealer would not deliver parts in the order in which the orders were received unless they tell me otherwise. For the most part, I don't really care. I am selfish and I have no problem with that. I tend to take care of myself first. I was thinking about ordering spare wheel bearings as well. Would anybody care to point out the flaws in that? (Message edited by Ulyssesmatt on January 12, 2010) |

Ulyssesmatt- I'm referring to parts being delivered to dealers out of order, perhaps based on size/ previous orders/ volume, etc, NOT from the parts counter to customer... |

It is artificial because there are plenty of belts sitting on shelves in people's garages. My need is less because I'm not a thousand miles from home with a broken belt. It is not about the dealer delivering parts. It is about weather or not hd-distributes the belts to the dealers on a first come first served basis. For the most part, I don't really care. I am selfish and I have no problem with that. I tend to take care of myself first. no comment. |

I don't need one yet. I have 43k miles on the current belt and 30k on the one it replaced (as a precaution), but I'd like to get another spare, because one of these days............ I'm going to need it! |
