alright, So I wanna put clip on style bars on my xb12s. I really dont like my stock handlebar. So do I have to buy a knew top and bottom triple tree or can I get away with using the stock triple tree that is already there? And does anyone know if I can use a xb12r air box cover on my lightning, and what about the seat? Is it possible to use a firebolt seat on a lightning? I know the firebolt keeps most of its electronics in the nose, instead of under the seat like the lightning. The reason I ask is because I was just run over at a stop sign by a dumb cager and now I am rebuilding my lightning. I would love to put a front fairing and seat, along with all the other firebolt plastics on my lightning. I dont think it would be that hard of a conversion, I have a unlimited supply to some pretty good tools cause I am in a technical school for welding!!!! Any input would be appreciated!! Thanx guys long live bAdWeB$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ |

Like this? http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9074.html All XB airbox covers are universal. S to R conversions are not that difficult, just takes a few mounting bracket changes and some small stuff to get it done. Buells were designed to be mix and match with little modification, so everything you want is easily attainable. (Message edited by luxor on January 09, 2010) |

I wanna put clip ons on mine too. I was thinking about getting the woodcraft clip ons. There cool cuz you don't have to take the triple tree all apart. I know some one has done it before on here. But I don't know what all he had to do to get them on. |

the top trips are universal for s's and r's. year doesn't matter, it's the bottoms that are different diameter. and since you both have an 08 and 09, you have plenty of flat surface area to put clipons on the tubes without sliding them in the trips and making for wonkey geometry. i'd recommend trying an r top triple first, before going to clipons...you might not need to be that aggressive. |

You do know what the R seat looks like right? Not only is it half the size of the S seat, it mounts totally differently, so you need the R subframe and then play stuff everything in it as best as you can |

best just to stick with the s seat setup, and get yourself one of these: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9028.html or make one, like i did, for 1/10th the cost |

the top trips are universal for s's and r's. I thought R trips had handlebar sockets and a loop for the ignition key and S trips had clamps for tubular one piece bars?? |

i meant for fitting around the fork tubes. a r triple or an s triple will fit on all years of the s's and r's. excepting the tt, as far as i know. ask frank, buell encyclopedia. |

Why wouldn't it fit the TT? The TT is just a SS with longer legs. Oh, the SS/STT and 06-07 Uly use the same trees |

I have a set of crossroads zero degree that I'd sell. I'm done at the track, so don't really use them anymore. PM me if you are interested. |

"i think its hilarious that anytime the word "carbonfibre" is on a product the price increases 1000000% haha like its got platnium fibres weaved in it" Well, not quite like platinum ($18,000/LB), but carbon fiber prepreg, the cheap stuff, runs upwards of $30/LB and typically requires labor intensive multi-process production methods compared to typical thermoset or thermoplastic materials (~$2/LB). |
