Check battery cables, both pos and neg, and make sure they are tight and the contacts are clean. At both ends of each cable. If the problem isn't fixed, then try swapping the Ign and Acc relays. Easy to do, and a good place to start. Hope this helps, Dave |

What is the ambient temperature when you are trying to start the bike? If it's 50 deg F or below, that will make it harder to crank over if you are not using the prescribed viscosity rated oil. Either that or your battery has marginal charge capacity because it is not fully charged or perhaps there is a relatively high resistance in either of the cables from the battery to the starter. |

Yea Sparky is right and your from NC. I live in WI. and my lawnmower/snowblower or my 8N Ford tractor would not start or it was extremely hard unless I had very light oil in either. Also my Buells are garaged but still start slower if the temp is low (close to freezing, 35-45F). The battery must be in great shape and the connections clean. Heck any engine is like that. Also I would think the voltage when running at 1500-2000 rpm would be 13.8-14.5. |

Thanks for the update, Woodman. Was it turning slow, as in like cranking one slow rotation a second instead of the usual 4 or so that most engines seem to do? My bike starts, but only the second turn, which is like several seconds later. I'm wondering if they're supposed to be like this or if something's off. |
