Has anyone here found someone that can make the fork lock pin for the 08 triple clam retrofit? I have the drawing that Tootal posted, but having difficulty finding someone local that is willing to make it at a reasonable price. TIA, Dennis |

I've had one PM expressing interest in this. I am negotiating with someone in CO to make a copy of pin designed by tootal. I don't have a price yet, but if you are interested please post here. I will post a price when I have the information. Dennis |

Can you post the drawing? I have a lathe, mill, and other tools at my work. As long as it wouldn't take too many man hours I could see about making one. |

Here is Tootal's drawing. I have one of his pins and it and the 2008 trees are a great mod! http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=142838&post=1440816#POST1440816 |

Go to a High School and talk to the shops class teacher. When I was in School this would have been a great project for the kids in their first year of machine shop. They would have charged for materials and a bit more to go for a class party or homecoming etc... What grade of steel does the pin need to be? |

They don't have shop classes at most high schools these days, too much liability. I missed the boat with that one |

Tootal used (and recommends) stainless steel. Dennis |

I would think that it should be heat treated stainless with carbon content so that it meets a certain Rockwell C hardness. |

The pins I made were 304 stainless. They don't need to be heat treated. In this case a pin should be soft so it bends and doesn't break. Making it hard will make it brittle. A case hardened pin would be the best but it would rust and not function after a while unless you plated it. The design of the pin is better than factory with the large diameter giving it a lot more strength and the o-rings to stop any rattle and keep the lubrication clean. If there was enough interest I could have my cousin write a program on his CNC and mass produce them but to make just a few would not be cost effective as he would have to charge quite a bit for a short run. How many out there are looking for one? It has slowed down a little at work, I might have some time to make a few but I hate to say that and then have it get busy and hold people up. |

As you know, I need one. I have not gotten a price yet from the fellow in CO. I've had one PM from Alchemy saying he was interested if I found a source and Thesmaz responded in this thread. Thanks for your interest and comments in this thread. Dennis |

I may be interested in one as well. Haven't decided on when the tree change will happen yet. |

I have a pin in my '08 tree upgrade...but it is not a perfect fit. So I would be on board with getting one of the Tootal designed pins just in case I every tear apart my Uly's front end again. |

Ok, I have the material and the o-rings. Next week a big overhaul starts so I'm hoping I can knock a few out this week or else it will be a while. No promises but I will try. |

I am interested in one also. I got the trees waiting to be installed when I get the nerve up to do it. |

If you need one PM me with your address and as soon as I make them I'll ship them. I only request you send me shipping cost which if I remember correctly is $2.50 or so. The way I see it, if somebody steals your bike with my pin in it, you can't sue me cause it was a gift. |

That's pretty cool of you Tootal, BadWebberism at its best. I'm more interested in that throttle shaft that another 'Webber made, that one could be a real $$$ saver. |

Well I started making eight of them and got them 80 percent finished today. They gave me eight hours to diagnose and hopefully fix low oil pressure on a V-twin compressor. First thing I did was look at the oil filter. Yep, clogged up big time. Cleaned it, install it, fire it up. Oil pressure back up, DONE. Ok, make pins quick! |

Xbimmer, Did they post any dimensions for that shaft? That wouldn't be such a hot item and if it wasn't too complicated I might have enough time to do one. When they get complicated the set up time starts killing you. Machinist law: Most jobs are 80 percent set up time. |

Hi Greg, These are the two threads that I could find. I remember following this last year and the BIG expense if the throttle body has to be replaced. There is a good picture but no dimensioned sketch. Maybe New12r can provide one. I'd love to get one of these for insurance! http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/432922.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/430170.html Thanks, Glenn |
