Josh - what are you looking to do in Raleigh? Do you have children? As Fish said, check out the local school districts. Things like that may determine where in or around Raleigh you want to move. We have several folks in the Raleigh area. We have folders set up top for Raleigh Rides, Jacksonville Rides and Mountain Grass. Be sure to check them all out. This is a great group here. We live all over the state and have fun wherever and whenever we are together. |

Cool yes I do have kids. I don稚 really have to be in the city I can live in the surrounding area, but I would like to stay close I知 in school for my bachelors in IT (networking and telecommunications) and will be transferring to a campus there. I haven稚 secured a job yet I hope to do that as soon (I知 A Harley/Buell tech also so if any of yall have any good leads let me know. It would be cool if there is anybody out there in the Networking field that could show me the ropes). As for what to do I知 not really sure me and the wife just wanted a change of scenery and out of all the places we looked at this area is the only one that has both the school I知 going to and the one she is trying to enroll in. So besides riding what is there to do up there? Enlighten me with your wisdom. |

Enlighten me with your wisdom. I have no wisdom! M2nc and I moved from Cincinnati. We now live in a one stop light town and we like it that way! If I need the city, I drive to Raleigh for the day and get all I want and then head for the country! Jlnance, Mikethebike72, Spike, Sportymark and a few others live in or around Raleigh. I'm sure they'll share their wisdom with you! Let us know when you get settled. We try and do ride and other activities with our children as well. How old are your kids? Does your wife ride?

Jlnance might have more insight on who is at Ray Price. The dealership is about 1 - 1 1/2 hours from us. We also have three children...two girls, 14 1/2 and 8 and a 5 year old son. I just completed my MSF class this past June. There are several wives in the area that ride. I've not been able to ride with any of them yet, but when I ride with the guys, no one has minded that the "spirit" is less than they are used to. Or maybe they just hide it well - LOL! When are you trying to make the move to NC? Do you know any of the 3%er's in GA? |

Not really most are in north GA. Thers a few riders around here and all of them seem to hide out most of the time. |

Welcome Josh, from LA ( leland area ) just west of Wilmington, 120 mi south of Raleigh. Folks it was mighty cold saturday gettin home brrrrr, Kristi, I have confirmation # 0007 from Rocco for the banquet, have not set vacation may be able to address that next week, Boss was ILL leaving for Texarkana tuesday, so poking the bear with a stick was not a good idea, I probably need to get up with Glen if he is going and not camping, Do I remember correctly Guell is not going this year? =( I liked M2nc / Webie's ideas about leaving tuesday, pretty sure 'Ol blue will be ok and on fresh tires. Me not quite as sure. My comment on the phone a while ago was in reference to My time share and a mad plan I am hatchin' The resort that I have a week in is in Kissimi FL, 318 miles 11 turns fl, AND I am not too interested in Dizzy world, or Golf ( to me its a drinking sport ), BUT they have properties, in Myrtle beach, Gatlinburg TN, and 4 other places, I feel a possible adventure comming on with posh accoms, and some new territory in the mountains to explore, >>> next year.. <<< I coughed up just shy of 700$ this year to pay for it so some one needs to use the time share, I am looking into trading the week for another at another resort, stay tuned.. As an aside I have a room mate, a big yellow Tabby cat I rescued at work who goes by "Buddy" Tonight is his last night as a "girl chaser", tomorrow he has an appointment with the VET, for "the works" He's kinda different If you call him and walk while doing it, he will walk just behind you, the night I took him home he had come to the office back door where we feed him and waited to be fed, that evening as I left I called him and he got in the truck now hes a resident of LA leland area, as If he knew, here in his new digs, Carpet is new and a little strange, but he spends a lot of time now sleeping and usualy on his back.. we will do fine we are both odd. |

Cool Oldog! Can't wait to see the new kennel and Buddy the cat! As for the timeshare...sounds like a fun C3 Adventure. Did you send a check to Rocco or PayPal? I've not received any confirmation on the first ticket I paid for. Might need to check in with Rocco. Will hopefully see you soon! |

Kristi I have gotten an e-mail from rocco, with a confirmation number, and nothing else. Carlos be careful extreme cold can be dangerous, to exposed skin, I hope that you got back ok, Heated gear is in my future, with a new lid... Buddy's "the works" did not go with out incedent, lets just say that my truck will never be the same,( Dumb arse room mate [me] did not have a pet taxi for him) The poor little guy had to be put in an EC for the next 2~3 days, ( think head in a funnel ) when he "eats" I have to sit on the kitchen floor and hold his food and water bowls up for him to get to, other wise it looks like he is trying to play Hocky, I feel like in an effort to insure his health I have taken on the role of chief tormentor =( Happily He seems to be adjusting to life indoors pretty well, I just gotta help him to get thru the Vet thing, speaking of Indoors, My boss carted in an older stereo system to dispose of, I picked it up and carried it here, the cd tape and turn table are toast, but the digital receiver, speakers and amp are good, serious tunes in the garage =) I cant believe that I am still not totaly unpacked.. |

I did survive, but not comfortably. I rode 190 miles yesterday and by the time I got home I was spent. On top my head was hurting from the cold and on the bottom my feet had had enough. My head felt like I ate a gallon of ice cream on a hot summer day. You know a cold headache when you get one. I had the heated vest on so my neck was warm. I also tried out the Arai helmet and that went very well. The problem is that the Arai helmet has a two-piece liner and it is not as insulating as the modern one-piece units. With the chin spoiler deployed, the wind on my face was greatly reduced but by the end of the ride, temps in the helmet were near outside temps so my head was cold. Wearing my Scorpion helmet, my forehead is cold from the wind blast that shoot up from under the chin bar. I wear my Gore-Tex bandanna which keeps my lower face warm, but leaved my eyes and forehead exposed to elevated wind-chill. But that is where the cold stops. The one-piece liner insulates the top of my head very well on the Scorpion as it does on the HJC and KBC helmets. Truth be told, the HJC is my warmest helmet followed by my KBC. The problem is that on both those helmets, even at speed the visors fog up. The Arai was not quite as as good as the Scorpion, which I can keep the visor down at stop lights and still see. The Arai fogs when stopped, but not when moving or open when stopped. On the HJC or the KBC, even opened they fog up stopped. On a side note, I like the Arai. The form fitting design and large eyes' port allows me to see the gages and idiot lights without having to look down. The chin bar is close to my face like my KBC, but with better visibility. On my HJC or Scorpion, the chin bar is further out and blocks my view directly blow the horizon. My feet started to hurt in a very familiar way. I was wearing my usual boots but with two layers of socks. There was room so I though it would work, but it did not. By the time I got home my feet were hurting like frost-nip was not too far away. |

Hey Carlos, company on Ebay is selling heated sock liners and glove liners, both selling at 59.95 they look like neoprene material with the new micro fiber wiring built in. Just a thought |
