I have my 2009 XB12R home and about 30 miles on it. I notice a very lean condition off idle. If I blip the throttle at idle it almost dies like it got kicked in the stomach. I notice it a little coming off the line too, like it has to be up to 2k before it likes much clutch fed in. Is this normal for the beast and the fuel mapping? My M2 is ready to rock and roll at any RPM |

Yes it is normal. The main culprit is the large throttle body, which is designed to allow sufficient flow at 7000rpm. Retuning it can help a bit, but your best advise is to not blip the throttle. This is a common trait on all the XB's. |

Thanks Froggy. That's a pretty big "drivability" issue to get used to. I got used to it in my 60 Rambler until I fixed the vacuum advance hose to the distributor, I guess I can get used to it again. Blipping the throttle is an abnormal situation , but it did bear out what I was experiencing when I started across an intersection like I'm used to with the M2. The throttle response of the XB off idle is almost nonexistent. To feel warm and fuzzy turning left in front of traffic I want to see 2K on the tach. I have an oil leak, I might mention it when I'm in there I might have less throttle response than is "normal" |

Yeah, it is somewhat 'normal', because in addition to the large throttle body, the ECU is biased towards EPA regs first, performance second. FWIW, my '08TT was somewhat 'dodgy' when I first got it. After break-in per the manual, it still took some 2k plus miles before the engine really got happy and started to run smoothly. Mileage should work wonders. Sorry to hear about the oil leak. Dave |

Also, on the 08+ bikes, the throttle cam on the TB is different, and it is slower/smoother than previous years. Here is a thread about possibly retrofitting an older one: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/522806.html |

I'll give it the break in and see what it's doing after then. I think my butt is just used to the snarling M2 locomotive. The 09 XB seems docile with out the rup rup of the M2............. we'll live together a little longer and see how it works out' Thanks |
