after possibly missing the tight spot while adjusting primary chain I developed a whirring noise and vibration that increased sending me on a search and rescue mission where I found my clutch had some wiggle if grabbed by the starter drive sprocket. assuming it was the needle bearings between the clutch basket and plate pack I found what appears to be a hairline crack and other possible stress cracks on the aluminum carrier that holds the plates as a unit. of course it is on the rear right above where the the units combine(around the area holding the race which slides into the needle bearings that allow the two sections to turn separately and function as a clutch should)the crack is all the way around the Plate carrier and there are other signs of small stress cracks as well. they are all small enough to possibly be sloppy casting so has any one seen this happen b4?clutch still works but.......Tough description so I'll attempt a photo if clear enough to help. Also, are the compensating springs on the rear of the clutch assembly supposed to be identical or are two shorter than the rest? its not in the repair manual that i could find and I don't wanna go ask the dealer.I'm assuming its normal but wtf, ya never know. |
