Hi This is my first post so please be gentle. My wife has bought me a lovely new 1125R (Black with the factory fairing kit) for Christmas and I've been looking at some bolt on goodies I've been tempted by these: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/3 746 So I've ordered a set to see if they'll do the trick. I know I may end up having to buy the longer cables and hoses but thought I'd give it a go and see. Any thoughts? I already have a list of mods to do (De-noid will be the first) My last Buell was an X1 Lightening and I really enjoyed that so I have high hopes for this one! Jules |

I think those won't do the trick, as the 1125's have clipon type bars, not standard bent tube like the XB models listed. American Sport Bike is working on a set of risers for the 1125R/Firebolt. |

Jules I believe Froggy is correct. I would start by putting Uly pegs on the bike the 1" drop makes a huge difference in comfort. The bike is spread out nicely and you will immediately feel the difference. If that doesn't help look into Heli risers or the likes of from American Sport Bike I am not sure if you would have to change brake and clutch lines though |

I hear what you're saying but I was also thinking of changing the clipons to a straight bar... You're probably right though, still i'll give it a shot and if it doesn't work out I guess they can go on eBay LOL I'm definately going to look at the ulysses pegs though as that'll probably make quite a difference.. My wife says an inch can make all the difference..whatever that means Thanks for the input, much appreciated |

Julian: Take a look here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/354781.html When the 1125r first came out I asked Al at American Sport Bike about those same "adapters". He told me that the would not work. That is why I went the Convertibar route. Neil S. |

Cheers Neil Looking at your setup I can see that the chances of the risers I just ordered working are very slim, ah well back to the drawing board.. I guess I really ought to give the standard setup a try before spending any more money LOL |

Aw nuts.. I think I just read that the bars on the 1125 are threaded and screw in to the mounts.. Is that correct (if so that's my idea blown out of the water). Serves me right for being impatient. |

Hey Jules, I have the 1125R and the reach to the bars IMHO felt shorter than the CR stock bars.I just rode my bike and after about 600 miles it got more comfortable to me.Now I like them just fine.I am 6' and pretty slim. Cavedug |

I am a fat little fuccer and the 1 inch drop didn't stop me from looking like a monkey fuccing a football when I rode my CR with clubmanns but the comfort level improved dramatically |

As mentioned above, Al at American Sport Bike is in the process of making some. Here is what I did to some stock bars in the meantime:

Welcome, Jules, The Uly pegs made a big difference for me, and it was an inexpensive and easy mod, and now I'm not sure I will need higher bars, but will consider them when American Sport Bike offers them. -Kurt |

Production versions are at the machine shop now after building and fitting a prototype set..Supposedly, I'll see them about January 10th or so. Al |

One question, on an 1125R--with a 1" rise do the stock cables have enough slack? To me, looking at my bike, it looks like they will need to be changed. |

You can probably get by with some rerouting at 1". I was able to use stock throttle cables with my Convertibars. I am over 2" higher and over 2" to the rear. Those changes required longer brake and clutch lines and cables. Adrian and Al should be able to give you more details depending on the final changes. Later Neil S. |

looks like you only picked up a 1/2" or so ? Actually 1". But even that little bit makes huge difference in comfort in around town (stop and go) traffic. Riding at highway speeds was never a problem as the wind helps lift your body. One question, on an 1125R--with a 1" rise do the stock cables have enough slack? To me, looking at my bike, it looks like they will need to be changed. I bought a longer clutch line. There was enough slack for the brake. I had to remove the wires to the right switch gear from the little bracket at the front of the triple tree. (Message edited by aeholton on December 28, 2009) |

I have a complete handlebar-raising kit from the Cleveland Buell dealership that I will give-away (it has the longer cables etc) since I no longer have my 1125. It's still in the shipping box and is sitting in my garage. You can have the entire kit for free if you pick it up in Wilmington, OH. E-mail me at feinstei@comcast.net if you want them. PRIVATE PARTIES ONLY! NO DEALERS! NO RESELLING THEM! |

Just finished installing Convertibars on an 09 1125R. Some notes on the install: Was able to fit them high enough so that the allen wrench that fits the bar's centerline adjusting bolt just clears the hex preload adjusters on the top of the forks. Had concerns that the wires to the handlebar switches would need to be lengthened for this height. But after seeing Ccryder's pictures with those wires rerouted and coming out from under the fairing support bracket, I realized that the stock routing has enough length to make a sano installation with those wires coming out of the top of said bracket and along the bottom of the upper tree, yet provide enough length to allow us hackers to raise the bars a little. So, one can either remove the fairing support bracket and reroute the wires out or disassemble the switches and pull the wires out one at a time (which I did). I had to remove the clutch hose clamp on the lower tree to allow enough slack to prevent binding at this installed height. I angled the brake hose slightly to the left at the fitting on the master cylinder because the hose was tight against the Convertibar clamp thus preventing rotating the lever to a comfortable angle. After readjusting the angle of the hose for more clearance, both clutch and brake reservoir lids are now more or less horizontal and lever angles seem comfortable. Overall width grip to grip is 30" which compares favorably to my 96 S1 at approx 29.5". Now to road test when it stops raining. |

Darryl: Raining in CA, WTF!!!! LOL When I did the first install I ended up trying to re-roue the throttle cables at the airbox but it was a no go. That's when I discovered that rerouting them where they came through the fairing bracket was the way to go. I ended up pulling the bolts on the fairing bracket to allow me to re-route the cables and wires. Just remember to add a towel or 2 on the front fender for protection. I did extend the clutch and brake switch wires about 3". In order to get max adjustment I still need to extend the wires on the LH switch group. I still have some room to raise the bars if I make the wires longer. FYI, I have the brackets rotated to the rear so they just clear the frame when the forks are at full lock. This pict shows their location:

I made a new risers in my 1125R to get bars in different angle and higher than originals. Then I bought a spare upper triple tree, which I modify to fit the risers. Now I need longer clutch and brake hoses. If anybody have a spare longer hoses, I´m interested (maybe throttle cables also). If somebody is interested to made similar risers as I have made, I have a autocad drawings, which I can @-mail. The black bars in the pics are from LSL. Hello Jules, my feeling says that those risers might work.... Please give them a chance before dismissing them. These are exactly what I wanted to make. Let us know what happens. Peter |
