I know I might come off as a nervious nanny but there are alot of theads about things going wrong with these 1125r's is it just a few out of many or is it the norm. My ninja was just so reliable.

It's not comparable to the Japanese as a general rule, in my opinion, but don't let that scare you away. The quality and dependability are good.

I put 25,000+ miles on one before I had any kind of issue that left me unable to at least limp home. And, that was in EARLY '08, when the kinks were still being worked out.

An '09 will likely perform very well for you.

See, that's why you gotta love this site. The whole comrodditty (or is that v-rodditty) is the best ever and it allows me to get over my new bike jitters.

Was it the hi beam or the low beam? Cause you know what they say about a bike that has a hi beam go out. Too much sweetness in it's meekness.

Tail light, get it straight!!! : D

I have two of them, an 08 and 09, the 08 hasn't had any issues but dosen't have any miles on it yet, my 09 has just under 7k and all that is happened is the tail light burned out and the rear tire is now toast.

So the '08s were obviously built better. The 09s are hard on tail lights and rear tires. Got it!!

Kyle:
B/T 08' and 09' there is really no difference in reliability (unless you talk tail light bulbs). Yeah there were some teething issues with the 08's.

All in all my 08' with 32,000 s'miles has never left me stranded or quit on me. From all reports of the 09's you should expect even better results.

BTW, I ride mine 300+ days a year. My normal commute is 70 miles each way. It would be a real PITA to try and ride those miles with a bike that was unreliable.

Heck my HONDA, yes I own a ST1300, has had it's share of issues in 5 years and 84,000 s'miles but never left me by the side of the road (although there was a time or two where limping home/ to the dealer was almost too far ;+}).

Darn it, I forgot my 1125rt did leave me by the side of the road once last summer! I had a flat tire (LOL) and had to trailer it home to fix it. Darn Buells, can't take them anywhere!!!!!!!!!

I managed to put nearly 800 miles on my '09R before the weather turned nasty and cold. The only issue that I've had with mine is arguably not a defect but rather pilot error ... The front tire oftentimes leaves the road surface when I crack the throttle all the way open. Did I miss a recall notice?!

17,000 + miles , no real issues or been left stranded , except when I blew out both tires and rims , lol

She's been as reliable or more so than any other bike I've owned , really mapping had been my biggest issue , which is resolved now with O$B , but certainly was never a reliability issue .

08r 3200mi. problem free. Well theres that rear tire with cord showing. Stock ugly blinkers didn't work from day one. Replaced with nice small oval shape to the side of under tray. Very fun bike.

I don't see what recalls have to do with reliability. My bike had A recall on the retaining clip for the brake line. Never broke and it got replaced for free when I felt like bringing my bike in.

Even in your other thread everyone agrees that link doesn't hold water. Find something else that really supports your thinking.

My experience with my 08r is that not only has it been very reliable (the battery seems a little weak (~~nit pick here~~)), the bike seems stronger now at 12k miles than when it had 1-2k miles on it. This was not the case when any of my previous yamahonkawa UJMs. Slowly, I'm being converted to a buell fanatic (mwahaha)...

Getting used to the (-) vs (|) is a little different, but after that it's smoooooth sailing.

I watched a series on HBO a while back (I think it was called Deadwood) and the guy said they were (\) not (|) or even (-) but I've never looked, so I dunno for sure.

It is good to hear no real issues have been found with the bikes. I picked up a new '08 in Oct 09. Yeah, new sitting in the inventory all that time. I got a hell of a discount/rebate. Weather is shit right now so I only have 313 miles on her.
So... I like the heat right now in the 30 degree weather. I am going to die in the summer aren't I in the Italian heat? Also I heard the '09s don't give one such a hot right foot. Is this true? If so what was done differently?

My 2008 1125R (production unit #679) has been in the shop for about 6 months of its life; 3 of those were to rebuild it after I fell off the back and looped it. The rest being minor warranty repairs, recalls and maintenance.

That said, she's been reliable enough for me to put over 42,000 miles on her.

(Taken just before riding another 79 miles on New Years Day)

Afhans: 09+ 1125R/CR has a heat shield in the frame to help keep the fuel temps down and prevent scalding your leg. Haven't heard about the right-foot heat.

42K miles ... Now that's impressive. I've also never noticed excess heat in the right foot area on my '09R. And I don't always wear boots and gear, so that includes tennis shoe time. Yes, I know it's not as safe!!
